  1. I think we are getting some forward cyclic on this thread. Remember to join the Ground Troops Avaition Center social group on this forum. We are going to use that to get our training together. Especially when the English manual comes out. Once the sim is released to the west, we'll get training flights together and get down and dirty with the systems, weapons, and tactics. http://forums.eagle.ru/group.php?groupid=19
  2. Just wondering if I tune my radio to the tower and make a call to them, will others (multiplayer) on the same channel here my chatter? For example i call for take off clearance, will my multiplayer wingman hear that if he is on the same channel?
  3. If you are really hardcore someone can record a walk through on various systems, covert that to a wave file, and drop it off in the radio station folder. Then once you get airborne, tune your radio to the station and go through the instructions in the cockpit along with the training wav file being broadcast....
  4. In those last couple of producers notes what do you think Wags is running as far as resolution? Either they really improved the code from note #1 or he upgraded the heck out of his computer. Notice the Nav note #4 the FPS are choppy but by the time he puts out note #7 and #8 his res is up and its running nice and smooth.
  5. You know I'm in. I was thinking of making some missions focusing on navigation and basic flying skills. After we get through that comfortably, maybe have a "weapons week" where we make missions that have a range type atmosphere and controlled fires. I think multiplayer with Teamspeak or whatever would make it alot more fun. Plus watching each other get sucked into a vortex ring is always fun :)
  6. doesn't he need to select cannon and not cycle through his hardpoints?
  7. Here are a couple documents I've run across that are interesting reading until the English manual comes out FAA Rotary Flying Handbook. Great for the physics of helicopter flight and best pratices. It will answer some questions of why and when to do thing as a helicopter pilot. http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/ Also, here is a document outlining the tactical side of attack helicopter operations. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/docs/1-112.pdf
  8. Its all good. I was just rolling it around. I'm sure the community will come up with something. I think alot of pilots have recognized that this sim isn't just a point and shoot application. Alot of time will have to be put into mastering just the basic task of moving from hover to forward flight.
  9. Welcome. I'm currently waiting on the western release of BS. Hopefully once the English manual comes out we can get some good ground school training in by exam and by back brief. I hope to keep this area to training topics only.
  10. Gentlemen. I just created a new social group in the forum called Ground Troops Aviation Training Center. I think we could use that as our meeting center to exchange information and setup training. http://forums.eagle.ru/group.php?groupid=19 The name comes from this article I found where they train real world KA-50 pilots http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/torzhok.htm
  11. You know I noticed that in one of the videos that was released. I mean it went hard to the right. But when the aircraft started moving forward it straightened up. Bug? I dont have the sim so I can't verify, but i do remember seeing that.
  12. No maybe just a word document with questions. But questions that would make you dig through the manual. I dont know...maybe that is just dumb...lol
  13. That has a nice ring to it doesn't it. Listen, I know ED and the beta team has alot on their plate. Whether its closing the loop on current projects or starting the development cycle on new projects, BUT..... I think it would be pretty sweet to have a sanctioned DCS ground school. Bear with me here...just an examination that covers what pilots should know prior to liftoff per the manual. Upon completion, you get the title DCS Ground School Grad. I think it would promote a culture of learning and getting under the hood of this sim.
  14. I got this book from Amazon last week and I try and read some each night. It's worth the money. Anyone who is interested in attack helicopter combat ops should pick it up.
  15. Yeah, my ISP sucks. I tried to load a site with discussion boards and search functions but my ISP doesn't support it. Sorry guys. If anyone wants to start one up, I'm all in
  16. No thanks. I'll just wait. BS is only going to get better before it gets to the western market. It just gives me more time for ground school.
  17. I'm in the same boat. I'm a western user so I don't have a copy of BS. Just want a place to meet and learn the systems. Formalize some of the training. Nothing hardcore, I just think it would be a lot more enjoyable to learn this beast with a group. I'm not really focused on destroying enemy convoys on the first day, rather just take a real world approach to learning this helicopter. I can slap a site together just for meeting and sharing info. Once i get it done I'll post the link.
  18. This would be for Western Users who are focused on training and learning to pilot the Ka-50 and master its systems. Maybe form a ground school prior to BS release then work our way up. Something professional. I live on the east coast (-5:00GMT)
  19. Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but just looking for an official update. No "When its done" replies please. I know what has been put out. Last I heard Wags had submitted something for review. Just wondering what the status was. We are all starving for information. I've even broke down and downloaded the FAA Rotorcraft Flying Manual...lol. I'm not some pushy punk user, just a customer wanting some information. Thanks.
  20. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31456 just in case anyone wants the same info....
  21. Thanks!! I think that would be a great start!
  22. I'm sure everyone has watched the SimHQ videos where Chris "BeachAV8R" Frishmuth talks about the various systems in BS. http://simhq.tv/aircombat.html Does anyone know how he gets his audio to sound like that. When he transmits, you hear a beep (which is real world when a secure radio transmits on the net) and then you hear what sounds like a pilot wearing his mask. I would like to set up my TS to "beep" when i transmit and then add some distortion to make it sound like a real radio. Or even some back ground rotor noise like would be inside the cockpit. This beep lets everyone on the net know that there is someone transmitting and keep the net clear. Would really help out in multiplayer. Is this possible?
  23. Does anyone have a listing of the airports in Black Shark?
  24. "The R-800L1 radio can also be used to tune the ADF to any broadcasting station, such as the commercial “Radio Mayak” in Maykop city. The DCS player can load audio files into specially assigned folders to be played when he tunes the radio to the frequency and modulation setting of the broadcasting station. The DCS radio physics model calculates every transmission in real time and determines the local signal strength according to numerous variables, including time of day (ionosphere effect), surface type (rough terrain, paved surface, water, etc.), distance to transmitter, transmitter power, etc. Because radio traffic is carried “live,” reception can be interrupted at any point by either natural or artificial interference, such as terrain topology or radio configuration." Quote from the KA-50 main page I'm assuming per this info, destroying the radio tower in Maytop City would be a natural interference...lol
  25. Just wanted to give a shout out to all veterans. Although it's Veterans Day in the US, I would like to extend this out to anyone who has served their country as part of it's military.
