Here are my models for the pit I'm building. I'm not going to model any switches, rather I'm going all out and try to get a 52" 1080p TV once the western release is on the market. I'm hoping the prices will come down by then. I'm also holding off on purchasing a PC until BS is available. I'm again hoping that those GeForce 280s will have come down in price by early next year. I already have a X52 Pro, Saitek pedals, and have the Left Side collective mod on order. Something neat on the Saitek stuff is that all their gear have through holes in the base (throttle, stick, pedals) so you can permanently mount it like in a simpit or whatever. I'm still wondering if I want to get the extension for my cyclic or not. I want to, but I hate the thought of having to tear apart my stick. We'll see though. I've also discovered that a CV joint boot for a car is a pretty good looking boot for my cyclic, so if I get the extension, I'll be in the auto parts store getting one of those. I've played flight sims for a long time, and have always wanted to build a pit. This is my chance and I want to thank you guys for giving me the motivation to do it.

This is actually pretty cool. I can see it now. Somebody in every MP mission will be tasked in guarding that radio station while someone else will be tasked with blowing it up. You go through the trouble of get your broadcast set up right and them WHAM, AT-9 through the front door!! I love the idea ED!

Sure it is. But the Producers Notes in the video download section provide a lot of general info and deals with basic tasks within the cockpit. You can ask what ever you want. That's why we are here. I would always try and do a search on your question first though because it may have already been covered. I would avoid asking about release dates or stuff like that. I got hammered for asking about when the English manual was coming out...lol. But feel free to fire away and welcome!

Wow. Very Impressive.

I dont play LOMAC so I'm not sure if you will be able to extract the flight plan and print it prior to take off. Can anyone answer that for me? Also, does anyone have any real world charts of the playable area in BS that can be printed as well?
-
Can the cyclic and throttle be removed in the graphics options of BS?

I've watched that note over and over and I don't see any mention of being able to slew over targets that are on the ABRIS that aren't first selected on the PVI.
-
No problem. It is a great no hassle application. I've already got my pit modeled and ready to purchase materials. I'm not on CAT's level or some of the other great innovators, but I'm happy with it. Keep up the good work. This thread spawns everyones imagination and is a great resource for pit builders.

likes the cockpit art team were trying to add some realism to the HUD. it looks like a serial number etched into the face by the techs who installed it. I think its a nice touch.

I'm been listening to the Producers Notes and just had a question. If one of your wingmen data link a target to you and you save it into system memory, does it then become listed as one of the TGTs in the PVI? The reason I ask is it would be nice to receive a target, punch it up and have the Shkval then slew to the target area. From what I see now, you receive a TGT on the data link, once you save it to memory it shows up on the ABRIS and you then have to manually slew to the new target area and try and find the target. So, do data link targets show up in the PVI-800 under target mode?

Guys...I found a great CAD tool and its totally free. You may be aware of it by now. Google Sketchup. Very easy to use and it will be great for cutting costs on my sim pit. I tinkered around with it today and come up with this... Its a great tool. Keep up the good work guys. I love coming to this thread. Sundown

I've actually got to the point to where I'm creating mappings for my X52 Pro. Yes I'm that bored... Anyway, what is the difference between the LOCK (enter) on the collective and the Uncage SHKVAL, Designate Target (O) button on the cyclic? Thanks

Will there be a version change between the Russian version and the Western version? Meaning, will any patching or developmental changes be incorporated into the Western version? I guess what I'm hoping for is as bugs are reported by the Russians, ED can make minor changes and release a "new and improved" version to the West. As long as the scope of those changes wouldn't push back the release date of course. So my question is will the Western version have any "tweaks"?

I just got back from Afghanistan in May and I seen some AH-64's laying the hammer down on some bad guys. They (the pilots) are cool people. You could talk directly too the pilot on the radio, unlike the Air Force where you had to relay through an Op center, unless you were JTAC. I've got a ton of respect for those guys because they were putting those birds in harms way to help us out.

So with that said, I'm assuming that all your flight directors (heading and altitude) that are displayed on the HUD and HSI are generated from the INS system and not from the ABRIS. Is that the common concensus?I guess its just a good practice to build in some INS update points all along the route. I think it was a great idea to model this aircraft because although it has alot of technology built into the system, its not enough that you dont really lose touch with flying the aircraft. You have to be a pilot first, then a warrior. Unlike the more modern US AH-64 D Longbows where you are living in the Fire Control Radar.I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this bad boy. Even though its going to be tough to get a "TA" on US ground forces and lay the smack down. I'm a M2 Bradley gunner in real life, and we have nightmares about HINDs rolling over the treeline and laying waste to our vehicles....

Check fire...found it http://www.simhq.tv/aircombat.html

Does anyone have those Black Shark SimHQ vids in WMV format?
-
I wish for helicopter "bumper numbers" that are generated instead of just being on the skin. This may be the case with LOMAC, I'm not sure. For example in the Pilots config, he has name, callsign, and aircraft number. That number is always generated and displayed on whatever aircraft he is in. Just a cool way to feel like you are part of the sim.

Now in the producers notes, its stated that the PVI-800 and the ABRIS are independent of each other. But we know that if we puch up a TGT point on the INS, that is will be displayed on the ABRIS with the option to slew the sensor to that point, so some cross talk is taking place between the systems. **these are assumptions, so feel free to jump in anyone and make a correction** My question is, as I'm flying along from waypoint 3 heading to WP 4, do I have to manually punch up WP 4 on the PVI and also click the "Suspend" button on my ABRIS so they are both point at WP 4 or is the system smart enough that when I advance to another WP from either system that change is global and a systems will be pointing at WP 4. That was probably a poor example, but any thoughts on that?

Great guys. Thanks again for the responses.

I haven't heard what ended up making it into the sim. Are there VOIP functionality binded with the cockpit radios? If not, why even bother modeling them. I'm sure there is something cool under the hood, but I haven't heard either way. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks

DCS: Black Shark English Key Command List and HOTAS assignments
SunDown replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Any word on the English flight manual? -
Like many others, we have been wanting a great helo sim like LB2 to come out. I've been tracking KA-50 from the start, and now that its almost here I've been pouring money into gear. So far I've got a new X52 HOTAS, IR Track, Pedals and just purchased one of Left Sides collectives from EBay. I still have to get a new PC and I think they are even going to charge for the sim itself :) I know it will be worth it, but it may have been cheaper to just purchase my own helicopter! Next thing will be a new printer after I burn mine up printing the English flight manual. Any word on when that will be released? Keep up the good work ED!

Yep I agree. I guess that why its so rewarding to get that metal on target because you know how much it took to even get to that point. Not like that point and click stuff. No joy in those types of kills. Also, I think when you have to work at a sim like this, you are less likely to put your helo in a bad spot. It took you ten minutes to get the thing off the ground, I'm not flying straight into any threat rings once I get airborne. Again, its an exciting time waiting for this sim to release.

Of course I'm looking through the translated (semi) and Russian versions of the flight manual and I can't believe the level of detail on the ABRIS. I can see myself having to dedicate alot of time to this system alone. It will probably be a month before I'll even attempt to fire a shot....
