  1. After the holiday break I've posted part one of a two part exam covering the AMMS. I'll be releasing exams everyday this week. Some of this material may seem dry as it covers system functionality, but the more you are exposed to it, the more things will all start to come together in later chapters. Thank you for all that have participated so far. I would encourage more pilots to come by and join us. http://forums.eagle.ru/group.php?groupid=19 SunDown

  3. Think of it like this...the ABRIS is like a Tom Tom or a Garmin in your car. It's just a fancy way of displaying GNSS data. It has no connection to your car's cruise control settings (or helo in this case), its just a display. Same with the ABRIS.
  4. Yep, that was going to be my next post. Sounds like you are inputting the data correctly, but the PVI-800 doesn't know that you want link of them together into a route. Section 5-4 of the manual covers that procedure.
  5. Inputting waypoint coordinates into the PNK 1. From the ABRIS, load the flight plan you wish to program into the PNK and select the Flight Plan sub-mode for selecting WP coordinates. 2. Set the PVI mode selector to the “ВВОД” (Enter-Edit) position. 3. From the PVI, enter WP (AF, TP, Fix point) sub-mode by pressing the “ППМ” (WP) (AF, TP, Fixed point) push-button. This will then illuminate the PVI display and indicate the number of pre-programmed points. 4. Press the push-button on the PVI-800 keypad that corresponds to the desired WP (AF, TP, or Fixed point) number. This will then display that number on the WP Waypoint display and the AF, OP, REF number will appear on the lower display. 5. From the PVI panel, enter the coordinates of the first point using the keypad. o Enter the geographic latitude positive-negative with the 0 «+» or 1 «-» buttons (the entire territory modeled in the game has positive latitude and longitude). The «+» sign is not displayed during input. o Sequentially enter the digits of the geographic latitude with decimals. The value of the latitude is displayed on the upper PVI display window. o Enter «+» sign for the geographic longitude with the 0 button. The «+» sign is not displayed during input. o Sequentially enter the digits of the geographic longitude with decimals. The value of the longitude is displayed on the lower PVI display window. 6. Once you have entered the latitude and longitude values, the “ВВОД” (Enter) push-button will illuminate. 7. Make sure the entered data is correct and then press the “ВВОД” (Enter) button. 8. In case of data entry error, press the “СБРОС” (Reset) button and repeat the process of coordinate input of a given point. 9. To disengage the WPs (AF, TP, Fixed point) sub-mode, press the “ППМ” (WP) (AF, TP, Fixed point) push-button again and the button illumination will extinguish. 10. Using this procedure, use the data from the ABRIS to enter the coordinates of all required WPs, AFs, TPs, and Fix points. That is straight out of Chapter 5 in the manual.
  6. are you in route mode [R] ?
  7. Great job! The only thing I would add is changing the labels to English western users who plan on flying with an English labeled cockpit. Thanks

  9. A GTATC candidate posed the question to me after taking an exam about the ability to slew the backup landing light. From what I understood in the manual (2-56) if the backup light was selected from the Landing Lights and Voice Warning Control Panel, you could slew it with the hat on the collective. Can someone confirm this for me. I'm still waiting on the Western release. Thank you.

I'll post who has received a "GO" **Admin note: Due to the way its worded, question six wont be counted. The manual doesn't really do a good job of spelling out that the backup light is slewable. The topic is covered on page 2-56. RobGordon did some checking in the sim itself and found that both lights are slewable. Thanks Rob.** "GO" ROBGORDON FLYBOY101 ROGE TUSLER DEVILETK CAT_101ST CHILLSPIDER GREYWOLF134 MALTO
  12. After enjoying a three day weekend, the Cockpit Controls part 2 exam has been posted. This is the second of four exams covering this chapter. I will post part 3 tomorrow and part 4 on Wednesday. I'm currently working through the AMMS section creating exams. I'll start posting those next week. ED has really went into detail on this system. A lot of features hidden deep in the manual that will really aid you as a pilot once you get over blowing up airport structures from a hover.:joystick: GTATC

  14. check the Training Mode switch on the Targeting Mode Panel. Just below the rotors for the radio on the left side lower panel. “ТРЕНАЖ – ОТКЛ” (Training mode – OFF) switch. Placing this switch in the up "ТРЕНАЖ” (Training mode) position places the weapon system in training mode and it will not allow a weapon to be released. However, full weapon aiming and target locking is allowed. When in the lower “ОТКЛ” (OFF) position, the system is taken out of training mode Section 2-75 of the English Flight Manual

  17. The Ground Troops Aviation Training Center (GTATC) mission is to create a center of excellence for KA-50 pilots around the globe. Our first exam has been posted and covers the first chapter of the flight manual. We will be releasing follow on chapters until we have worked our way through the entire manual. This is Ground School. Once all chapters are complete, you are considered Ground School Q (GSQ) GSQ pilots will then take to the air to test their skills and perform tasks both basic and advanced. Completion of those tasks lead to Flight School Q (FSQ) rating. After completing both Ground and Flight School you will then be considered GTATC qualified. We will post a handy dandy banner or graphic to download and make part of your signature as being GTATC qualified. This isnt' meant to be hardcore, but rather fun and help straighten the learning curve of the KA-50. We will however always maintain a level of professionalism between pilots and staff. Please come join us here We will be posting exams that tie into the recently release English flight manual. Our goal is to certify pilots as GTATC graduates. This will encompass ground school and flight certifications on basic and advanced tasks. GTATC was created to provide a resource for pilot training and education. It's not fancy nor is it pretty. What we want to do is create a culture of learning that is both fun and informative.

  19. Thanks for the response G. I've been wondering the same thing. Good to hear your take.
  20. I've got a X52 Pro and I'm getting a little worried reading through the forums. Originally I had planned on just using the in-game interface. Now I do have Left Sides collective on the way, so I wont even map anything to the throttle. I'm trying to keep it real and just bind the real commands to my cyclic and collective. Nothing more. Also, the whole trim thing has me worried. Have to quickly center the stick after trimming? what the heck is that all about? Anyway, I'm waiting on the western release so I dont have the sim yet. So should I be worried?
  21. Well I just printed the flight manual and GUI manual. Put them in three ring binders and tabbed the chapters. All at my employers expense...
  22. Now that the CIS has their hands on BS (along with some others) a small flood of game play videos are making their way to YouTube and other sites. There are some good ones and some that aren't so good. Here is one that made me smile. My man is a pretty decent pilot, but needs to watch some producers notes or read a manual. I like part 2 when he learns that HE against a tank isnt going to work. Overall very entertaining. Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRaNnpIdYWY
  23. I'm actually a M2 Bradley gunner. You know, the things the KA-50 are blowing up in pretty much any video that gets put out...lol. At first we (bradley crews) had nightmares about Mi-24s busting over the treeline, now its KA-50s or Mi-28Ns....
  24. here is what sucks....I'm a DCS fan. I mean I can't wait to get BS, and I was actually sad to hear that KA-50s wouldn't be funded for production in Russia's armed forces. Then I wake up... I'm also in the US Army. And the bottom line is that one day I might be on the business end of one of these multi million dollar can openers!
