  1. I was attempting to make a race course for black shark a while back, and I was just using the T.V. towers. I added hundreds of them, cuz i was trying to make it feel like a closed course, but it was more than she (the game) could handle and subsequently crashed. As long as you space them out far enough, and dont over do it, the TV towers should work fine for a race.
  2. :thumbup:very cool, thanks for the laughs.
  3. Yes, I understand how Arma is "supposed" to be played, but unfortunately, in my experience that is not the "reality" of "how" Arma is actually played. In my experience, despite all the fan sites, nobody even plays Arma. Theres a ton of servers for it, but day after day those servers are all empty. Sure there are a handful of exclusive "tactical gaming squads" that may do some co-operative play together, but that's it. Often times these guys are no better than the children on the consoles in regard to their attitudes, and their silly elitist mentality's. I play for fun, I dont want to deal with that. (that being said, I know that is not a problem that is exclusive to Arma, Im just making a point, that this is another problem with making Arma accessible to new players). I think we all love Arma on paper, but when it comes down to actually playing it, thats a different story. I just think it needs to be more accessible. And while we all enjoy realism, the simple truth of it is, as you yourself stated, how long are people really going to stick around in a game where they can spend hours in game, without any action. While it may be realistic, the vast majority of people lose interest. I think thats why the first one has pretty much failed to keep even its fans interested. I think the ghost servers are proof positive of that. I would love to play some Arma, if any of you guys play, I would be thrilled to play with you. I feel I missed the boat on it, as I have only owned it since last summer, I figured there would still be tons of people playiing it, but theres not. I feel like Arma has the potential to deliver a great experience, and I regret that for the most part, I have been unable to share it. Arma2 does look awesome, and I am looking forward to its release as well. I noticed that they made a point in that one trailer to show the guy actually "stepping over" that little picket fence (lol) even though the fence itself was only like four feet long (lol), like I said I will no doubt be getting both. And I am looking forward to both. I was just getting a bit excited for dragon rising as I think it is closer to a release date than Arma 2. I embrace the realism in Arma, and I just wish I could utilize it. Like I stated earlier, I like Arma for head to head infantry and tank combat, I think thats where it really shines. I guess I just wish people were playing it. One last thing in regards to the realism in Arma, even in the trailer, it shows some soldier run from being in combat on a road, to jumping into a helo and flying off. Sorry, infantry dont pilot helo's, I just wanted to point that out, as it seems most people get so pre-occupied with the helicopters, thats all they care about. You can make a game as realistic as possible, but it doesnt matter if the players dont play it with the proper mind set. And it is a supreme challenge in itself to get all those players co-ordinated to work together as a real army, especially when half of them just want to fly around screaming "look at me! look at me!" By that same token, I think our beloved Black Shark is best played in small groups of 2-4, as opposed to 16 player missions, yet the majority of players are more into the large scale, fast, instant action type missions. this in a way, works against all the effort that was put in to create a realistic sim. Ok hope were all still friends. LOL.
  4. how much are houses in your neighborhood? My neighbors suck. Nothing but a bunch of illegal alien gangster freaks that make you want to go Bakersfield chimp on their punk butts. What are you guys a nation of genius's with part time jobs? Looks like you guys have a great lifestyle over there. keep the pictures coming! In case theres anything lost in translation, you have been complimented accompanied by some humor.:D
  5. Well, after looking into it, OP Flash may not be all that after all. Now this isnt concrete yet, but from what ive gathered over on the forums for it, they arent even sure if the game will support track ir OR even have the free look function. The very fact that the free look function itself isnt 100% verified in-game, is a big red flag that this project is being mismanaged, and it's most likely being geared solely towards the console market, and we all know what that means. some serious watering down. Again, nothings for sure yet, but I been around enough to know when i smell something funny. What a bummer. It'd be a real shame to do the operation flashpoint name like that. I guess ill have to keep trying different configurations with arma and see if i cant get it dialed in better. I really want a shooter that i can play on pc that i actually enjoy, and can sit back and relax with. ok well i think ive stuck my foot in mouth enough for one day. better stop now.
  6. Why thank you sir! heinkeee6, yeah im hoping they get it right too. All in all from what ive seen it looks like they are doing a fantastic job with it though, and I know that they are trying to make it as realistic as possible (supposedly all the ballistics modeling is in there), while also providing faster more intense action. They are aware of what the fans want, but are also trying to change the experience to appeal to a broader audience, which in the case of Operation Flashpoint, I think its the right decision both business wise and gameplay wise, as long as they get it right. Hopefully they will. Of course we never know until we get our hands on it. Im gonna go ahead and link that short video of the tank firing here for those that have not seen it yet http://www.gametrailers.com/player/37928.html Tell me that isnt the coolest tank firing youve ever seen in a game. lol. Im really looking forward to this one.
  7. Just curious what you guys are going to opt for. Personally, I have been in the mood for some good fast action adrenaline pumping, thinking on your feet tactics, that put your reflexes to the test, and isnt too overly complicated (control wise/and im talking as far as shooters go). Im hoping operation flashpoint 2 delivers that kind of experience, but also has that "authentic" feel. While Arma 2 looks fantastic, I'm still skeptical that it wont be plagued by the shoddy controls, and the over-emphasis on commanding 8 retarded AI soldiers. No doubt I will be getting both though.:smilewink: I guess I just want to be able to play it with a 360 controller, and I have been trying to configure Arma to work well with a 360 controller, but it just doesnt seem to fit. For the record, I have been looking to Arma for a good infantry/tank experience, but im not really a mouse and keyboard kind of guy when it comes to shooters. I like to sit back and relax with the controls in my lap. Anyway I just wanted to share and see what you guys think, cuz im waiting to go have lunch and now its time.:music_whistling: Oh yeah, anyone know if operation flashpoint2 will have track ir support? 6DOF?
  8. lol great screenshot muell.
  9. maintain a speed of 130 during the ascent and make sure you have anti ice on. I think...........
  10. great demonstration! What porno movie did you guys get the music from? :megalol:
  11. While I enjoy listening to tunes, I notice that more recently I just listen to talk radio. lol. Just like when im behind the wheel of my car. Talk radio keeps me focused, but also gives me something to listen to, and think about while I cruise the skies.
  12. my two cents (which aint worth much): A few days ago i decided to try flying with no payload, and only 40% fuel. At that weight, it was almost a challenge to break the ka50. I was rolling and looping and twisting and turning, and the aircraft didnt seem to mind much at all. It handles alot differently at that weight, in fact the challenge, was getting used to flying it like that, because it was so much more responsive. give it a try. edit: I did not read this entire thread, so this may have been mentioned already.
  13. get one of those nuclear power plant power supplies. the 1.21 gigawatts one should do.
  14. @zika: Hey man, as luck would have it I dont have that .ini file anymore. I just used the one that Ed Truthan provides for download from his setup guide. Make sure you delete the other .ini when you add the pre configured one. I ended up uninstalling flight sim x last night. I just dont think its for me.
  15. Thanks Hitman, it still wont accept that password though. I wasnt sure if you actually created an account for deadsmell, but it wont work for me either way, as an existing account, or as a new account, It's been a pain just to get it to accept user names too, but when i finally clear that hurdle, i get this password nonsense. im still a no go for gamespy registration. Is there a particular port you open to communicate with the gamespy servers?
  16. ok, now this is really starting to frustrate, this damn gamespy account registration crap simply does not work. No matter what i put, it says the "password must be less than 16 characters long and be in alphanumeric format", but no matter what it doesnt work. I cant believe microsoft would let a half baked entity like IGN have anything to do with their games, let alone code the MP. I tried searching the gamespy forums, but found nothing but angry flight simmers looking for the same solution as me, and gamespy is just pointing the finger at microsoft, so there doesnt seem to be any help there. Do you guys have any insight as to how to make this work? Thanks! lol
  17. Ok im downloading real environment xtreme, and active sky x. I just wanted to clarify, are these going to work with tileproxy, or is it one or the other. either you run real environment extreme, or you run tileproxy, or do they both work together simultaneously? I am hoping they both work together somehow, but im starting to think that might not make sense. :) I also dl'd Tim Conrad's Embraer A-29B Super Tucano and the panel mod with the radar. I havent installed any of it yet, just waiting for everything to finish. uber excited to try this out. so will all those apps work together to make everything nice and pretty? @ggg87: Yes you are understanding correctly, it's true and it works! you gotta try it. @groove: damn that sucks man, I hope you can find a work around. I assume you already read the install guide, I wish i could help you out, after all the help you provide here on the forums. I'll keep my eye out for any vista support threads i can find, and if I see any, ill shoot you a link. :)
  18. Thanks Hitman, i'll check those out. I'm downloading that 10m Hawaii mesh right now, and that goshawk they were flying in the video, that looked like a great place to spend some time. I havent added any mods on FSX, are they easy to install?
  19. Are there any other mods/add-ons that you guys recommend for fsx that will work well with this tile proxy? I figure i'll mostly be flying around America.
  20. Ok, I got it working!! All I can say is wow. This is definitely one of those instances where the eye candy makes a HUGE difference. I was playing FSX earlier, and I was flying around a city i used to live in, and NOTHING looked familiar, now that i got this tile proxy thing going, it feels like im actually there, i can see all the old landmarks and stuff! I must say this is one of the coolest mods ever. I for surely have a reason to start taking more flights in FSX. it even improves the feel of the aircraft, i just took off in f-18, and went into a steep climb after take off, and the shiz looks frickin real. lol, i love it. does anyone play this online? ive never played it online, it says i have to register with this gamespy thing, is it free to play online?
  21. Thanks. Yeah i saw that site earlier, but it wont even let me search without registering. I guess Im too lazy to register today.:music_whistling: Thanks though. Maybe i'll get it figured out tomorrow.
  22. Nice flying man.
  23. yes, its says tile proxy is ready for take off.
  24. lol
  25. Well, I thought I read everything, followed the guys instructions, but ive run into trouble right out of the gate. All im getting is black scenery/textures/tiles. Im running FSX, and I used the premade .ini file, and I tried to check it, (even though the author says it should work fine by default), but when i open the .ini file to check and make sure i dont have more than one map service going, i cant find anything that looks like the config thats supposed to be there. It may very well be there staring me in the face, but i dont know it. Im not the best with tinkering with files and stuff. Anyone got any ideas? thanks.
