All I wanted is for the aircraft to return to level roll.. once you trim the ailerons back to center neutral. Since the Eagle doesn't have reset trimmer functions as those found in the DCS Su-27 & perhaps other Russian FC3 jets... and, assuming you're still symmetrically loaded... not have that bank bias either to the left or right that goes on forever and ever ...until you end the mission I know real aircraft cannot have a "perfect level attitude" since it moves through air that behaves like a fluid.. but, DCS hasn't simulated that characteristic of air yet

reported JF-17's signal strength is always at Max - RWR Bug
pauldy replied to pauldy's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Oks Thanks. Kindly include the H-6 bomber too. It has the same signal strength bug as the JF-17 when it turns on it's radar. -
I know the Eagle doesnt have trim reset. The issue i see is that when you trim the ailerons left or right, it can never return to neutral. Even if you center the trim, the jet would either bank slightly to the left or right, depending on which bank turn you last trimmed for.

I guess i'm the only one experiencing this perhaps? or maybe I'm doing something wrong that i still don't know.

I only have the standalone Su-27 though, so i can't verify with the Fulcrum. I guess the Flanker's Autopilot is still the same as with LOMAC/FC 1.12a/b. That's why it's rock solid when engaged? or at least in Altitude Hold.. Anyways I've tried again, this time focusing on Trim Reset. It seems to return to Neutral now. I guess my error was not letting the control stick return to it's true neutral position in the cockpit. But yeah.. it feels indeed PITA, because by the time the stick returns to neutral position, the jet is already in crazy pitch attitudes, especially when you have a high airspeed.. needing to compensate any attitude changes with brute force.

*Similar problem with the Su-27 so i have a pretty much the same open thread in there.. Seems that once you trim left or right.. the jet can never go back to perfect center trim again.. Even with engaging auto pilot modes Attitude + Altitude Hold Since the same thing happens to the Su-27 ... i guess this is an endemic problem in all FC3 aircraft? Pretty much i'm careful not to trim for left or right roll.. unless needed for asymmetric loads for landings.. (e.g. there are more remaining missiles on one side) So I also made a track for the Eagle. I forgot the exact specifics i did but things but after take off: 1. Tried to be in a relatively level attitude, then i fired an AMRAAM from the left pylon. 2. The jet now has asymmetric weight distribution. 3. I then tried to trim the jet to the right, now it seems the jet will eventually dip into the right side.. (that's why i time accelerated) 4. I tried trimming to the left. Now the jet seems so have a dip into the left side (time accelerated too) 5. I fired my right AMRAAM, hoping to make the jet "balanced" again. 6. I repeated trimming either for left or right but the jet can will always have a tendency to dip into left or right side after trimming.. regardless if i enabled Attitude + Altitude hold I always thought Trimming will help make your aircraft return to a neutral state, regardless if there's some asymmetric load. f15 trimoff center.trk

Sorry for getting back late on this. Anyways I made a track. I forgot the exact specifics i did but things i did after take off: 1. Tried to be in a relatively level attitude, then i fired an ET from the left pylon. 2. The jet now has asymmetric weight distribution. 3. I then tried engaging either Alt = 2 Altitude Hold or Alt + 3 Return to level flight to somehow correct the trim. 4. It didn't, so I tried manually trimming the jet myself. Now the jet seems so have an over trim to the right. 5. I fired my right ET, hoping to make the jet "balanced" again. 6. I repeated what i did in numbers 3 to 4, but the jet seems to have some slight over trim either to the left or right side. I always thought Trimming will always make you aircraft return to a neutral state, regardless if there's some asymmetric load. trim off center.trk

I see, glad i'm not the only one that noticed this. iirc, this has been a nuisance since 1.5. I'm surprised it wasn't addressed even up to now.. or perhaps no one really reported it or something. == for the record I have the current DCS Stable 2.7.9.18080 installed

The same thing also happens to the F-15 ..so i guess this is an FC3 quirk or something? Pretty much i'm careful not to trim for left or right roll.. unless needed for asymmetric loads for landings.. I see thanks again all^ I lock my target/s first with Radar then switch to Launch Override. Afterwards I select the ET and fire away... Kinda like in one of Ironhand's older Flanker Tutorials years ago for Lock On 1.02 iirc

I see, thanks loads for that detailed explanation. with Regards to the R-27T/ET in real life or documents, do they really require an IRST lock? or they can be launched using data provided by the radar or something?
-
Guess that makes sense then. Ironic with Launch Override, I find myself lobbing the ET first towards the closer bandit, then I fire my ER against the Trailing Bandit. Something like that. Perhaps when the clouds finally obscures Optical systems like IR, this might not work well i guess.
-
*in the context of PvE or single player I know the Launch Override function exists since Flaming Cliffs 1.12b.. which enables the Flanker to Launch the R-27R/ERs & T/ETs without Launch Authorization cues Is this something that functions or exists in the real Flankers? or is this more of a sim exploit? for some reason, I feel like i'm kinda cheating when launching the ET in launch Override at BVR Ranges.. but then I do the same with the ER when the target I have locked in STT jams my radar.

I know it's been a long time and possibly a closed subject now.. but I'm kinda wishing we can still have normal colored canopy glass in the Su-27. Yes, I know there are Su-27S/SKs that have yellowed canopy, but not all of them.. even in the Russian Air Force.. I guess this is more of an insignificant wishlist in the future..

Ok i see, at least it's a known issue now. -
reported JF-17's signal strength is always at Max - RWR Bug
pauldy posted a topic in F-15C for DCS World
Has this been reported already? Since 2.5.. the JF-17 will always be displayed close to the RWR's center... which gives the impression that the jet is really close.. when in reality it isn't... Doesn't matter how far the Thunder is from you .. as long as the JF-17 fires up its radar, will always be as if the it's FCR is at max signal strenght and is very close to you.. The same bug happens when the H-6J bomber turns on it's radar. I'm running on the current DCS 2.7.9.18080 PS: Since i also have the Flanker, I can confirm the same thing happens in the SPO-15. I guess this bug affects all FC3 aircraft? Can't confirm with the Full Fidelity aircraft as I don't have any of them yet. -
What is the mission temperature in your weather settings? iirc there's some sort of weirdness in the F-15s engine FADEC or so in-game that when you have negative ambient temperatures, your RPM goes way below 67% RPM. After which when you advance the throttles, the RPM will skip back to 67%... or at least that's what i've been experiencing all these years. with that, i feel like i'm more prone to firm touchdowns during winter seasons in the map.

Maybe it's just me but it seems that the F-15's Pitch Trim flight model has been updated? I noticed that I don't need to trim as much as i used too.. ofc, ..not as much trimming as with other aircraft, but the jet seems to hold it's pitch attitudes better now Either way, I like this update too besides the Nozzle sounds.
-
A BIG THANK YOU for adding the nozzle actuator sound!
pauldy replied to RhineHornet's topic in F-15C for DCS World
I'm late since i'm using stable and just updated last night but anyways.. I remember someone wishing for this sound almost 10 years ago here in the forums. Very nice this was finally added to BOTH F-15s C & E Models.. Cheers ED Team^^ -
I just wanted to know if this bug has been officially acknowledged? Now the Eagle has two bugs with regards lighting, the first one being the weird Night light textures i posted earlier and now these landing/taxi lights problems ..both bugs are still present in the current stable build. Thanks^
-
yes the the current one, 2.7.5
-
I forgot to add I'm running on the 2.5.7.10869 stable version. So I guess there's even more lights problem in the beta then?
-
The 1st Pic & 2nd Pics are pics of the Taxi Lights, but it's the lower & larger lamp that's lighted while the 3rd & 4th pics are supposedly the longer and a bit downward angle landing light, yet it's the smaller upper lamp that's lighted

Not sure if this has been reported but I think the Eagle's Taxi & Landing Lights Lit On Textures are reversed?
