From Bluefin If you hit the same problem that I reproduced, it is caused by Control Center trying to tell you that you need to enable the Aero Desktop. If you turn on the Aero Desktop, then I suspect that the problem will disappear. If this works for you, then I'll wait for the next release of Helios before delivering the fix.

At the suggestion of someone, I removed the two screws on the sliver flange of the WarBRD base and attached is a picture of the black female plug. It appears that my black female plug is seated deeper than some other WarBRD bases. Because it is seated so low, I cannot attach the WH grip to the plug, even with the screws removed.

Several Thrustmaster MFD Cougar?
sobe replied to SkinnyCyclist's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
3 MFDs for the cockpit and the 4th as a button box. -
The saga continues (with no word from Virpil). I removed the 2 screws from the WarBRD base and the TM still will not fit. I left the flange on the grip as I am not sure if I should try it without the flange. Unfortunately, with the screws off, there is really no way to know if the grip is in place until you test it on the software and see that no buttons work.

Seb has responded with the suggestion below, but I may hold off until I hear from Virpil. All Virpil grips have the connector not fixed. The connector in the old Mongoost-50 base was also not fixed. But the connector in the WarBRD base (and in the new MongoosT-50CM base) is fixed. This is not an issue if you use Virpil grips. But Warthog grip has the connector fixed on the grip. The Warthog grip and the Warthog base also have matching couplings, which limit the movement between the grip and the base stem. WarBRD base does not have them, so any rotation of the Warthog grip puts strain on the somewhat fragile Mini-DIN connector. By removing the screws from the connector flange in the WarBRD base, this is no longer a problem, since the connector in the base can now rotate freely. As a bonus, now you can mount the Warthog grip in a rotated position (more ergonomic for center mount usage).

It appears that I have a hardware issue with my old WH grip and new WarBRD base. Thinking that I might be crazy, I took everything to my computer repair store for them to try to fit the two pieces together. The problem is that the male end of the WH grip is just a little too short to fit into the female plug in the WarBRD base. The female receptacle of the WH is just a little higher then the female receptacle in the WarBRD so the male end of the WH grip fits into the higher female end of the WH base. The computer repair person took some pictures and is preparing a little report to send to me so that I can forward it to Virpil. The computer repair person wanted to try some modifications in an attempt to raise the female plug of the WarBRD, but I said no as I didn’t want to void the warranty. My WH is about 7 years old and perhaps that have been changes made to it since then and the WarBRD base was based on these newer models-I don’t know. All I know is that he could not get them to fit and he runs a very successful computer repair store. As soon as I get the report, I will forward it to Virpil and post it here. Not a great way to start off as this is my first purchase from Virpil.

The manual does not describe the top black box labeled SELECT PCB-so what does that do? do I use VPCCNT LITE as I have a TM WH grip?
-
I have just installed the WarBRD base with my TM WH grip. I have updated the firmware, etc and have 2 issues. First, there is a black box at the top of software screen that asks for the PCB. I have put in there VPCCNT LITE which is what appears to be the same name as the Virpil Warbrd base and TM grip in the legacy profiles. Is that correct? For the profile, I changed the USB VID/PID to 044F/0402. Next the axis stuff seems to work fine, but I cannot get any of the buttons to show up on either the windows joystick screen or on the Virpil button screen. What does the profile wizard refer to in the prior post? OK. I found that in the profile tab but still no joy on the buttons.

Helios 1.4 - Taking to the Skys Once Again
sobe replied to BluFinBima's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am trying to help a friend use the new helios without the need for the use of viewports. I have some questions: 1. do you need the export files from Capt Z's site or is the regular export lua file sufficient? 2. In the DCS options, should you just your one screen or do you use both screens like I do now for the resolution? -
I just ordered the WarBRD base to be used by my WH grip so I am eagerly awaiting the receipt of my base. I have watched lots of YouTube videos on how this works, but I am sure there will be some questions that I will have. I know the USB code numbers to insert in the Virpil software so I am ready to give it a go.

Which Black Hog Controller Layout for DCS?
sobe replied to HunchyTheHuncher's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a TM WH throttle with a slider on the base. I tried out the slider on several cockpit functions (lights, etc) and it seemed to work fine. The WH slider does have a center indent and I assume the sliders in the Blackhog do not. Nevertheless, I think I am going to go with Model A generic for my choice rather than Model B. -
Which Black Hog Controller Layout for DCS?

I agree that 4 sliders is a bit much for DCS but I like the 4 toggles and 2 extra buttons in the A model. Still undecided between the A and B. -
Helios 1.4 - Taking to the Skys Once Again
sobe replied to BluFinBima's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
OK. Uninstalled and reinstalled and all is fine. Could someone please expand on the following highlighted language found in the new change log: * Hornet UFC updated to remove the need for a viewport * Hornet IFEI updated to remove the need for a viewport * Auto-binding for some devices to their intended interface -

Which Black Hog Controller Layout for DCS?

I was just thinking about this today when I got their email. I am leaning to version A but also considering Version B, both with generic labeling. tough decision. -

Problem. When I go to install your 2019 version over my 2018 version (the last one), I get an error message: Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed. This is not true. Why is the computer lying to me???? I also tried to install it in a different folder, but got the same error message. -
It would have been nice of Eagle/Heatblur to let the public know this before the pre-sale ended. A not so nice public relations move by both Eagle and Heatblur. I have $30 of bonuses that will probably go unused before they expire under the new method of bonuses established by Eagle.

In post #26, under the panel to the left which has the heading of Perform Command, what does the third blank labeled “NUMBER” do? In the post, number is set to “2”.

Capt Z How are you going to handle the viewports for the pilot and RIO as they have to have separate assignments in the monitor config file? Will we need two screens for the profile, one for the pilot and one for the RIO or will you be able to combine them? From another post: "You can export the screens that are viewable from respective seat. This means that the pilot can export VDI and HSD while the RIO can also export the DDD and TID in addition to the VDI and HSD as he can see them from his position."

Thanks SVgamer72. Just ordered the WarBRD yesterday so it will be awhile before I get it and try it out.

I just ordered the WarBRD grip for my TM WH grip. As I understand it, I have to put the VID/PID numbers in the Virpil configuration software for the combo new base and grip to be able to use Target (as little as I use it). If I was not for Homefries, I probably would never use it. Any how is the following the current input>>>>044F 0404? Also, if any one has any tips to using this combo, I would appreciate your sharing them with me. Thanks

"I think with joystick gremlin, you can convert one of the sliders to function as a gear lever (axis to buttons)." The problem for some of us is that joystick gremlin requires VJoy and VJoy no longer works with Win10 and the developer is no longer supporting VJoy.

Unveiling the Long Awaited VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick Base Successor!
sobe replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Am I missing something or is the new T-50 over three hundred US dollars? I had planned to buy the Warbrd base for for about $170 US so I have 2 questions. First, are they still going to sell the Warbrd base now that the new T-50 is being sold. All I had planned to do is use the Warbrd base on my WH grip. Second, is the new T-50 that much better than the Warbrd? -
Capt Z The Mig 19 has not gotten very good reviews. So I hope you will put your efforts into the F14 due out in a few days.
