  1. I don't care how tough you are, I don't think I'd like to be the test pilot on that flight!:pilotfly:
  2. Wow, I'm amazed that people reformat/upgrade their computers so often. I've upgraded once since 2002 and only reformatted one drive. The only reason I did the reformat was because I was fooling around with my new lap top and decided to search for a cheat for a game I was playing and was rewarded with a drive by install. I tried to clean the disk but never was able to completely get rid of the nasty software and decided to reformat. Just as well since the factory install of course had its fair share of 3rd party software bloat anyway so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. Although putting up with activation limitations is not something I normally have much tolerance for I think Black Shark is the one program I'm willing to make an exception for and trust in the good graces of ED.
  3. Generally speaking you need 64bits to see more than 3G of ram. Even though in theory regular XP should see 4G of ram that includes GPU Ram so if you have 4G of ram and 512M of GPU ram XP will only see something like 3.5G or less of regular CPU ram. I should add that you'll want to be sure you have 64bit drivers available for your hardware I don't think that's generally a problem these days.
  4. I agree. Based on other posts I've seen on this subject that rig should be fine. One suggestion though is to go with at least 4 Gb of memory and get the 64bit version of XP. I think 3Gb is fine for today but if you want to future proof your rig for the next few years I think spending the extra $20 or $30 to do this is a no brainer.
  5. I believe ED has already said that they will incorporate any bug fixes they have at the time that the Western version is released. Unfortunately I don't remember what thread I saw that in so I can't give a link.
  6. I love that screen shot. I gives you the feeling there's really a war going on out there and the sole purpose of all AI ground units is not just to either shoot you down or act as cannon fodder for you. That really helps with the immersion.
  7. My very first flight sim was the first Personal Computer flight sim ever written. Sublogic FS1 for the TRS-80 back in 1980. Ok, really the version released for the Apple II was the first. The TRS-80 version was released a few months after that. Still that's almost 30 years of flight siming and I've bought most of the flight sims produced for the PC ever since. The first ED sim I bought was either Flanker 1.5 or 2.0 (Can't really remember). I also bought LOMAC and that's the one (of the ED sims) I've played the most. My favorite all time Sims were Falcon 3.0, Falcon 4.0 (and F4AF).
