You're being very unreasonable here, and downright rude. Just 2 posts before yours he gives an excellent reason NOT to run OB.. Things often break in OB, that's why it's called beta, so people can test and report bugs. If you're trying to run a MP session for multiple people, who take their time every week to show up at a certain time, you can't just say 'sorry xyz broke this week so no session'. People also don't check in every day on the forum like you, me and others here, I myself was a bit surprised how long 2.5 stayed on the OB branch, and probably rightfully so, but someone running a server and a community might've expected differently. Same thing applies for the Hornet. :smilewink:

I wouldn't draw conclusions from a pre-release dev build, they take things out and add them again constantly. I think they even broke the carrier between versions, nothing odd for a dev build. We'll see for ourselves what's in and what isn't in just a few short weeks.:joystick:

I think I've had this problem in 2.5.0 but I haven't filed a report because I thought it was a problem at my end: (friend with a barely minimum spec laptop) Can you confirm you didn't have this problem in 2.5.0? Otherwise this might help BN and the team with isolating the issue. (need to look back further in the repo or not)

Could've been less harhsly stated but yes, different countries different definitions, and all OT.
-
Very OT, but yes, Hornet has been confirmed for this month (there's just been a FB post about it).
-
The way I see it is that it's impossible (fiscally) for them to make improvements on all wishes on the forum. Making actual modules like the Hornet gives them an opportunity to take a look at everything related to the module. For the Hornet so far, it's been improved carrier physics and trapping/launching. I hope that after early access they have the opportunity to take a look at what you just described. :) disclaimer: I'm not versed in what is supposedly wrong with the missiles and why, but there are dedicated threads for that discussion.

Sounds like a solid 'best practice', thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the pointer! It's in the /user/SavedGames/DCS/MissionEditor/Templates.lua Guess all templates are just combined in one file, didn't think to look for that :D
-
This +1, like in my previous post in this thread I believe they're just seeing this because they've got a raw version of the dev build that holds the Hornet. They're updating the Early Access ordanance list as they go, so if they're trying and testing the AIM-120B, that doesn't mean nothing until we see it on the EA list.
-
Odd, I recall checking there, but thanks, I'll look into it:D

I'm interested in one of the questions asked: is there a way to share my own created templates with friends/the community? As far as I've looked I can't find any template files.

I think the current AIM-7 is more of an: I can aim for the target EXCEPT if these radar rules don't apply. New AIM-7 will actually respond to an illuminated target from the Hornet's radar bombarding it. On that subject, the radar is going from: i can see this target unless my radar cone isn't alligned, to: Radar is actually throwing rays out there and listening for the bouncebacks. I think the above is what I interpreted from previous posts I've read so far, do correct me if I'm spouting ignorant garbage :megalol:

First of all, very well put together post, from screenshots to your argumentation! Secondly, if I look at the current development of assets/mechanics next to actual planes, you can see that while they're working on the Hornet, they're currently also developing de carrier mechanics (first tried on Su-33) and assets like the S-3 to accompany the Bug. Keeping that in mind, my guess would be that a rework/addition of GCI would probably be included with a module that actively relies on it (MiG-23/25/29 or other PVO aircraft). I'd really like to see the GCI one day, and it's probably more a question of WHEN than IF. ;)
-
The models are in-game yes, though no full-real module has ever used an AIM-7, so they might want to revisit those models. Next to that, the way the aircraft 'handles' the weapon, slaves it to the radar beams etc. is also somehting that has to be developed from scratch for the hornet.

You beat me to mentioning that event, another CAS event with a Su-22 in Syria also sprung to mind for me :music_whistling: *EDIT* I realise it was a Rhino now, argument for F/A still stands :D

+1 Thanks for the quick updates and checkbacks Newy, and on a Sunday no less! Never wanted to give the impression of having the feeling like i was 'owed' the AIM-7 for pre-release, or that the list wasn't subject to change. JUst found the stealth updates odd, that's all :D But let's speak of it no longer.
-
That was my bad then, probably came across it looking up the self-jammers and/or other avionics.
-
Wasn't the ALE-50 towed decoy also planned/mentioned initially? I recall looking it up but I can't find it referenced in the list anymore. Might be worth mentioning this in Mini-updates imho, since not everyone checks the list everyday and might be surprised if they check back in a few months. Either way, thanks for the info Newy.

Questions from the Community for Nick Grey - Answers!
Lithion replied to NineLine's topic in Community News
My interpretation is that it will be a new standalone package with some new simple cockpit planes. If that's the case I would imagine everyone would just have to get a new copy. They already have the bonus system in place to support loyal customers, no need for more discounts IMO. But it's all just speculative at this point, and FC4 is longs ways away. -
Thanks for the correction, edited my post.

I believe i've heard here on the forums, it's the preferred way for the USMC F/A-18©'s: **EDIT** shown image below is a LITENING pod, no image proof yet of mounting ATFLIR centerline.
-
That sounds like a very sleek and timeworthy(glamour shots!) solution to the spawning problem. +1 sir if rep still existed

It's released in Open Beta state as announced in the Weekend News HERE If you have the Open Beta client installed, it'll patch automatically to 2.5.1. If you don't, follow Ripper's link;

Was there a definitive answer to the whole 31st May vs 31st June argument? Either way, I'll see it when it's done, no need for me to keep hammering on a certain date :D

Cheers, figured out what i did wrong: I plumped it in User/Saved Games/.. but it actually has to be in the install root folder D:\DCS/.. etc. Cheers
