Nothing was overly confirmed on the MIG 27 front. Unless that does count as a surprise we got. 1) MIG23 MLA 2) F-15E updated info 3) SA updated info I would be fine with confirmation that the MIG 27 is coming after the MIG 23 as the other one. Honestly I'm fine just knowing we're getting a version of the MIG23 that in itself was worth the hype.
-
Prowler did say after the 1st announcement there would be 3 more. It's possible he meant 2 and 3 was a typo. That or we're still waiting. To be fair the MIG was the big announcement here. The other 2 were essentially additional information or confirmation of rumours.
-
I'm guessing this is why they are calling it the South Atlantic map as opposed to the Falklands. I'm kind of hoping the 4th surprise is to show work on an aircraft that went 20 and 0 against other aircraft within that theatre.
-
Yeah I was thinking MIG-23 vs F4 would be a good idea for this when I saw the announcement. Doesn't the MIG-23 have IRST? Not sure how good it is but it may give 23 pilots the edge over the F-4 in certain situations.
-
Hype train has been worth it this time. Even if we weren't getting anything else the MIG-23 alone would have been worth it. Hopefully this signals the possibility of getting more Redfor aircraft fully modelled in the future.

Can't wait to get my hands on the MIG (both of them).

I think, as others have mentioned, information regarding the F-15E is the most likely candidate for this surprise, with that being said they had previously mentioned in the F-15E thread that information regarding that project was coming in July. Also as others have mentioned a Sea Harrier FRS1 to go with the Falklands map is a possibility and will share some of the technologies with the existing harrier module, an FA2 Sea Harrier would be amazing but I don't believe it ever saw conflict within any of the current maps planned for DCS. Other possibility would be GR3s. Other ideas modules where (to me) the hype train would be work it would be something like an F-104 or a Tornado GR4 (Truth be told I'd be happy with any tornado even an F3 but I want a GR4). The F104 did win that pole that was done on the Razbam folder a while back however. (I'd also love for it to be some sort of red air like a mig 23 or mig 25 but that's a dream)

Hints and Tips for the F-5E BFM Campaign
Hatefury replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-5E Aggressors BFM Campaign
It is imperative that you're at full internal fuel when you reach India and can drop your tank before the 1st engagement. Once you are off the runway you won't need to touch your burners until the G-awareness test (even then they aren't required but I normally have enough fuel anyway). Make sure to climb to 30000 feet for both ingress and egress you use a lot less fuel up high and maintain around 300knots on the ingress (this can be higher as longer as you're not using AB but it definitely should not be lower). Also once airborne change your flaps from auto to up it'll allow you to pick up speed faster. No need to rush to return to India or call ready. Make sure you are facing east again before you call ready so you aren't burning energy needless turning around at the start of the 2nd engagement. If you're at full burner for the full 10 minutes for both fights you won't have enough fuel to make it back, but may have enough to get the mission complete after you exit. This really comes down to you need to defeat the opponents quite quickly if you want to fly all the way back (in my opinion you should, otherwise you haven't really passed the mission but I understand why there is the option to finish the mission early). If you're slightly naughty and ignore the minimum range for gun attacks rule you can often score a kill on the 1st merge and is probably the easiest way of killing the computer opponents. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Hatefury replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I agree that moving the M2000C to red only was a good choice. What I'm saying is having the Hornet blue only without having an equally popular aircraft on red would re upset the balance. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Hatefury replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Didn't the M2000C end up on both sides for a while. I'd be tempted to let both sides use it for a while or at least until the F-14 is released and then have F-14s on one side (Red) and hornets on the other (Blue). When eventually we get the JF-17 and the F-16 it'll potentially make things easier and whilst the server does try and follow a scenario you want to encourage people to fly on both sides. Putting all the new aircraft on blue team would create a horrible server where everyone just plays blue. I agree it would be the most realistic as there are a lot of blue aircraft coming, it just wouldn't make for an entertaining environment. Also I agree the P51s floating around is odd but I guess its that or give both sides the Huey and MI8 as not everyone has both, or are capable of flying both. -
All manuals for all aircraft are in their appropriate DOC folder e.g. Eagle Dynamic\DCS World\Mods\Aircraft\[iNSERT CHOSEN AIRCRAFT HERE]\Doc. Sometimes its easier to use chucks guides to start with https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135765 as the manuals can be too detailed at times and once semi familiar with the aircraft use the manuals so increase knowledge further.

F-15C Aggressors Basic Fighter Maneuvers DLC
Hatefury replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-15C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Ok campaign completed. Pretty much everything I said earlier holds true still. I enjoyed the campaign. The fact the AI doesn't fly by the same rules as players is outside your guys control and as I mentioned previously because we are in a much better aircraft this time around its a far less frustrating factor than the F-5 campaign as the F-15 often does have the power to follow them through that obnoxious climb that they always do when you get behind them. Consequently a much better campaign to learn BFM against the AI than the F-5 and I'm looking forward to the next one. -
Firstly hello and welcome to DCS, I'm relatively new here myself. Secondly (and I know this sounds obnoxious and I really don't mean it that way but its text form so...) there are plenty of guides to help you start up DCS aircraft on Youtube / online. The manual does tell you how to start up on page 139 although it doesn't tell you to turn the electrics on, however startup procedure is almost identical for all FC3 level aircraft and is explained in the SU-25T training mission. To save you some time. Nav lights RCtrl + L Close Canopy LCtrl + C Electrics / battery RShift + L Electrics / radio are working at this point you should be able to communicate using either the # key (Euro keyboard) or the ¬ key (American keyboard). F-15C you don't need to worry about frequency, simply press F5 to communicate with the ATC and select the option you want. You will hear at this point UZI 2-1 perform a radio check. Respond to Uzi 2-1 using the Radio menu then press F10 and then copy. The F10 menu will be used a lot get used to it as it changes as required. You don't need to wait for the radio check before starting you engines. In fact I recommend doing it before the script gets that far. Left engine start RAlt + Home - wait for a little bit of spool up. Right engine start RCtrl + Home At this point the F-15 will be good to go. Uzi 2-1 will communicate with the tower and start to taxi. Follow him to runway 3R and ignore any ATC instructions they give you as sometimes it can take ages for you to get permission to taxi if there are AI birds rolling around. Bullseye is not required for this campaign. Waypoint 10 is effectively Bulls once you get onto the combat missions and you at no point receive any instructions giving you positions from it in this campaign. Good luck with the campaign.

F-15C Aggressors Basic Fighter Maneuvers DLC
Hatefury replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F-15C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Ok having played up to and including the M2000Cs I feel I'm in a position where I can give a little feedback. The campaign itself is (not surprisingly) easier than the F-5E version of the campaign. I don't mean that as a bad thing. With the way the AI cheats the flight model the F-5 campaign could be very frustrating. The F-15, being a better aircraft, overcomes some of this, consequently this version of the campaign is probably a better version of the campaign for those newer to BFM to start with. There are a few of the voice overs that sound a little funny because they have been cut slightly as we don't need tacan / heading information on the FAM flight and on one of the missions your wingman is randomly in an F-16 instead of an F-15 which was slightly confusing on the ramp until they started taxiing. Once again the best time to be scoring kills is during the head to head stage of the engagement. With the F-15s power if you don't start turning early enough with the merge its possible to extend and reengage head to head if you feel its required also if you feel that the fight is going badly it is often possible to reset the fight in this way. Overall I'm enjoying the campaign and look forward to getting an F15 ACM remake if that is on the cards. -
Yeah the tanking mission for the campaign isn't very good for leaning how to tank the aircraft for this reason. If flies straight briefly after it departs the area it was circling then is almost never straight again. To get full points all you need to do is put the hose in the nozzle and take a bit of fuel, don't need to fully refill (not that you've used much up to this point).

Mission 10 The 1st Tornado taxis passed the scary AWACS. Ejects and mission stops there. So unable to test any further on that mission sorry. Mission 11 Seemed to work as intended. Mission 12 F117s can't get passed that Awacs either. Mission 13 Working as intended
-
Mission 9 You start in the wrong place and you also hot start for some reason. Mission plays out if you sit on the deck for 8 minutes as if your ILS was aligning. After intercepting Stranger you don't seem to get pulled off from him before the MIGs spawn and you have to go kill them this could be because hes flying so slowly. During the fight phase of the mission as well even if you've called merged on the bandits (and indeed already shot down the 1st one). When flight lead merges you get the radio message saying you're going to miss out on all the fun. Non of these issues stop the mission from being completed though.

I may have been a little high checking tacview the 1st I tried it. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a2EDMpNynYpQQ8zCeqQSpmftaXZt4Iy9 However I just tried it flying intentionally way below the fragged altitude for the mission. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dEznwVUv5sW3rlcc3wohm7ebl-TuZSiN The SAM simply doesn't want to SAM. It never shoots at my wingman he simply explodes as scripted.
-
Yeah can confirm a lot of patience is required circled the target. When he did finally release he killed over 50% of the targets on his own though. Mission 7 worked fine. Spotting that BMP on the new map is so much easier than in 1.5.8. Mission 8 I've only flown once and after you change radio frequency and informed everyone you were in hot the SAM never fires at me to give its position. I never actually saw a launch previous to that either. I'll update once I've had chance to fly it again. edit: after checking Tacview its because there was never a launch during the scripted event. edit 2: Just re downloaded the mission and played again exactly the same issue.
-
Ok up to mission 6 now rest of the missions worked fine up to that ponit. I'm fairly confident this is because all the units that need to be killed are hidden in the trees but I digress. The flight lead never attempts to bomb the targets although the mission does progress if you drop a set of mk 82s up until the point you say you've released all your bombs after the BDA is requested it never gets fed back so the mission gets hung at that point. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ok can confirm mission 1 worked as intended for me with latest version. Thank you.
