  1. I figured it out. This seems to work. Vehicle = SPAWN:New( "Stennis" ) RespawnZone1 = ZONE:New( "SpawnZone") Vehicle:SpawnInZone( RespawnZone1 )
  2. I'm moving a carrier group with: Vehicle = GROUP:FindByName( "Stennis" ) RespawnZone1 = ZONE:New( "SpawnZone") Vehicle:InitZone( RespawnZone1 ) Vehicle:Respawn() That part works fine. But after the respawn the TACAN no longer works. I've tried setting the TACAN using a triggered action and trigger an AI Push after respawning but it still doesn't work. Any way to get the working? Thanks,
  3. I had the cover over the HUD show up once while I was sitting on the ramp cold and dark. It went away pretty quickly, and I have no idea what caused it in the first place.
  4. That's the NiteHawk FLIR pod, the predecessor to the ATFLIR. It was always on station 4, the left cheek. I worked on the Nighthawk pod and as far as I know it was never mounted any any other station. In fact the only way it would be possible would be to replace the pod aft section which is pretty much the chassis of the whole pod. The ATFLIR came after I got out of the navy, but from what I have seen of it, it looks to have the same form factor and would likely only go on station 4. I know nothing about the LITENING pod other than that I never saw it on the carrier, or the beach for that matter. EDIT: I take back that about the ATFLIR, after looking closer, it looks like that might be an adapter between the cheek station and the pod itself. If you compare these two images, the first being the ATFLIR, you can see how they differ, the interface between the airframe and the pod is all one piece on the NiteHawk. It looks like they could be separate on the ATFLIR.
  5. This, Please!
  6. It does. Thanks Lex.
  7. This isn't hornet specific but I know there are a few hornet pilots that frequent these forums so I figured I'd ask here. I know the ship maneuvers to get around 30 knots of wind across the deck. What I've always wondered is, are they just heading straight into the wind or do they maneuver to get 30 knots down the angle? For instance, if you had 8 knots of wind coming from due east. Would the ship turn to a course of 90 and make 22 knots. Or would it turn to a heading of 131 at 24 knots, which if my math is right should give an apparent wind of 30 knots at 121 degrees? It seems like the latter would be better since it would remove any crosswind component. But given the wind conditions it wouldn't always be possible to do, if there was no wind at all for example. Would it be better to remove the cross wind component when you could or just deal with a crosswind that you can replicate consistently every time?
  8. I agree there is certainly room for 16 spawn points. If I recall when I was on the carrier we had a total of 85 aircraft aboard. If they can fit 85 IRL, granted they were packed tight, we can fit 16. The other part of this I would like to see is the mission designer being able to specify spawn location priorities. So that the designer could specify which spawn points get filled first. And being able to change priority based on a trigger would really be great. That way you could specify the spawn points on the fantail get used at the start of the mission but once all aircraft are airborne or something the spots on the starboard side become priority so that anyone joining in late doesn't spawn in the landing area.
  9. Disable Auto Login How can I disable the auto login so that I can change the DCS account that the server is running under? Edit: Nevermind, Of course after searching all over I find it just after I post the question. For anyone else searching for this answer. it's in options.lua located at \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta_server\Config\
  10. Not quite, you still have to set takeoff trim, by holding the button on top of the rudder trim knob until you see the trim advisory show up on the left DDI. What you don't do when taking off from land is adjust it from there. It should stay at 12 degrees.
  11. VIACOM seems to cause SRS to key up when flying the F-5 Whenever I'm flying the F-5E. Viacom seems to randomly start keying the mic in SRS. Sometimes it will happen when I press my button bound to activate VA to listen for commands, sometimes it will just happen randomly when I don't press anything. The only thing I have found to make it stop keying the radio is to bind a key to "UHF Radio Microphone Button" and press and release it. SRS will then stop transmitting. It doesn't do it while flying any other aircraft, at least not that I have found. and it doesn't do it if I disable plugin support in VA. Any ideas, I would really like this fixed, I'm not able to use VA/VIACOM as long as this is happening. The squadron mates are getting tired of listening to Darth Vader breathing. Thanks,
  12. Yeah, I just discovered the color settings, thanks. However, labels are blocked by terrain. I'm no game designer, but it seems it can't be as simple as layers. Labels are blocked by terrain, airframe blocks the terrain, but airframe does NOT block labels.
  13. What I would like to see for labels is an option for a neutral color, so that you can use them to spot an aircraft but not to identify it as friend or foe.
  14. Just FYI, the tail number you are referring to is called the modex, the buno is more like a serial number.
  15. Dots only labels works well for me. I do wish there was a way to set it to friendly dots only. That way I could use it to make sure I can see the rest of my flight without giving away the location of enemy ground units.
  16. I have the WH throttle and stick. I often find my TDC cursor in the upper left corner, but I've always assumed I've put it there over time by hitting the mini stick on accident every once in a while.
  17. I wish they would go with the AN/AAS-38 and ASQ-173 as well. I think they were more appropriate for the 2005 time period. And I used to work on them both so, I'm a little biased. I never saw the ATFLIR in use but I understand the resolution is a lot better, so there is that I guess.
  18. And drop them off as well.
  19. Most quiet mode installs are a command line switch. So, for most people the updates wouldn't change. This would be an option for those that have a need to update automatically, mainly those who run dedicated servers. I run my squadrons server, it restarts itself every once in a while to refresh things. Every time there is an update, the whole squadron has to wait until I get home to click on the acknowledgement (or I think about it and remote into the server). I actually redid our training mission that normally runs on the server so that it could go for 12 hours without a restart primarily to avoid this problem.
  20. I agree, it isn't a cheat. I also agree, it should be able to be disabled on MP servers. However, I don't think it is that big of a deal. I imagine most of the players on MP servers know how to navigate themselves and don't use this feature, or even know about (I didn't until i read this thread). The ones that do use it are probably lacking other skills that this slight aid probably doesn't make up for.
  21. Except that 600 ft is 183 meters, if you want to be accurate.
  22. Also, after the crew connects ground power, you need to move the master ground power switch ( the furthest aft one) to reset. Then hold the first switch for a few seconds, if it snaps back to off, you didn't hold it long enough.
  23. Will it be just single player or will it be able to be for multiplayer?
  24. The reason you can't do that is that in both cases you are performing two actions. It would be like asking for a keybinding that starts the APU and also sets the engine crank switch. For the parking brake you are first selecting the parking brake rather than the emergency brake, then engaging it. For the wing fold, the twist drives the wings open or closed. The press/pull engages/disengages the locks that prevent the wings from moving. In the real hornet, you can't just turn it to spread and then push it in right away. You have to wait until the wings are completely spread then you can engage the locks.
