Hi, I have one question for you experienced mission builders. I’m making a mission where you are suppose to provide escort/fire support to a battle group consisted of around 20 combat vehicles. They need to advance from point A to point B. So, mission success would be if majority of the battle group reach point B. With my experience I was trying to use the GROUP ALIVE trigger, but that is leaving the possibility that if only one vehicle survive, mission will be rated as success (and that is absolutely unrealistic). Is there another way to set triggers so that if (let’s say) 80% of battle group reach point B, mission is success? Thanks!

A-10A pilots! beginners, novice, and experts..
igormk replied to hannibal's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I also fly a Hog. Unfortunately it is hard for me to plan my free time in advance, I usually just pop in on HL or fly with my friends when I’m free. But I would use this opportunity to encourage events like Black Sea Showdown hosted by 169th Panthers on 15th August. It was preplanned HL event with RED and BLUE side, around 30 pilots on each side, a lot of planning in advance and everything was smoothly covered with TS on few channels. I can just say that it was my most interesting simming experience ever. I also must stress that despite majority of participants were flying fighters, and were A-A orientated, A-10s (and Su-25Ts) made A LOT of damage to the enemy, and we achieved very high score on the final list. For me Hog is the most interesting and fun plane to fly in LOFC, and I can’t wait to try it in DCS! :D Best wishes! -
I was bored with the default F4 view, so I played around a bit with the “server.lua” file. Maybe you will like some of those I “produced”. You just have to replace server.lua file from C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View folder with some of my server.lua files. If some of you also have edited some interesting F4 views, maybe you could share? ;) I’m also posting a example of one of 14 different F4 views attached below. Attachment: F4 View.rar

*** Official ED Campaign Creation Competition ***
igormk replied to Arne Anka's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hey guys, Anything new about the competition? I was away for some time, so I was wondering is there something new I should know. Thanks. -
Hi, I was wondering, when you are flying a mission/campaign where you are pilot of Russian armed forces Ka-50, and the mission/campaign have integrated triggered voice communications (between the aircraft and ATC, FAC, AOC, etc), what would you prefer most: 1.Russian voice with English subtitles, 2.English voice with English/American accent with or without subtitles, or 3.English voice with Russian accent with or without subtitles. Personally I think that first solution would sound most realistic (since you actually are a Russian pilot in that mission/campaign), but I also remember that I had big problems when I was flying “Deployment” campaign, where voices were on Russian with English subtitles, and there were several occasions when I was too busy in the cockpit to read subtitles of my communication with, for example FAC, what caused additional troubles for me. On the other hand wouldn’t it be strange to be a Russian pilot and to hear transmission like: “Night Thunder 3-1, proceed to IP Delta, and report ready for Target Brief, break, break, Armageddon 2-2, visual, cleared hot.”? Hmmm… I’m looking for your opinion since I plan to make some missions/campaigns that would include a lot of triggered communications.

LOL! I didn’t mean exactly “visible” in that way, but hey! Better something, then nothing! Pixel is a pixel.;)
-
Are there any visible improvements in the Mission Editor with the patch?

LeftCtrl+Y twice I think.

Well you’ve heard it from the king himself! Respect GA!

CAT, I've tryed with those settings, but it resulted with almost no response to my head movement. Probably it's difference between V2.1 an 2.2 so these days I'll probably install V2.2. In the meantime I did "soften" my previous setting, and result was not bad at all. I've tryed NOE, rockets and guns and also formation flying and it was fine. Next days I will fine tune my settings, make some practise, and than... beware if you see me in MP on the oposite side! :D
-
Thanks CAT for sharing, but hmmm... I'm not sure are we using same version of FreeTrack. I'm using V2.1, and my settings panel looks like that in the attachment, so I'm not sure how to set Y/P/R on such low values. Plus I would like to know do you set those settings in both "Profile" and "Global" sections, and if you are also using 3 point clip device what values did you set in "Setup" section for "Center of Rotation Calibration". Thanks, I'm really looking forward to make it work as it should!

DCS: Black Shark User Screenshots Dedicated Thread
igormk replied to Teknetinium's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Here are few screenshots from MP session couple of days ago (i think it was Rob222 server). It was free flight training mission, everybody had good ping (40-80), so we all agried to try flying traffic pattern in formation. We didn't look much like a good helicopter display team, but it was great fun! -
Connos, unfortunately I don’t have raw materials any longer, expect the whole video in .wmv format in high res. I will have that in mind with my next video, and maybe make 2 versions – with and without music.
-
Thanks, i'm glad you like it. This gives me inspiration and energy to continue my production! :D Regarding to voices, it is actualy after effect. First we recorded our comunication (we were using Ventrilo) parallel with the video. But it sounded really unrealistic because Ventrilo gives very clear sound. I've tryed to modify that audio later using morphing software, but that didn't get satisfying results also. At the end, we recorded needed phrases (minding to keep authentic events) via Sound Recorder on our mobile phones. You will be surprised how realistic results you will get if you keep the mic of your mobile 1mm of your mouth (or closer) while you are recording. That is the secret. Anyway it would be great if ED integrate radio comm software that sounds like real comm with next patch/module, but that's another topic...
-
OK, thanks barra733, enlargement of dead zones sounds like good idea. Maybe that will solve problems with my neck pains. :)
-
And how do you like this one: Yes, it also have music, but we tried to synchronize it with the video, and we added some real life sound, plus in game sounds, plus communication between pilots, and finally all together to have a story. Not just flying around. Sorry that this video is recorded in LO FC (during COOP MP mission with 4 A-10s) and not in BS, but soon we are planning to make something like that in BS, so I would like to hear other people's opinion.
-
I don't have such problems, despite that sometimes FreeTrack software crashes leaving your head in undesirable position. :) barra733 do you still have your profile saved somewhere? If it's no problem I would like to try it to see how will it go.

Hi! I know that this is old topic, but as I started to use FreeTrack recently I was wondering if we can exchange some experiences. As you all pointed, it was great satisfaction to build it and then to see it works fine. But still after couple of weeks of use, I can’t say that I’m used to it. It goes with 27fps, so I’m satisfied with smoothness it produce, but despite that, every time I use it more than half hour I get all sweat and finally pain in my neck. Not to mention that I get disorientated very easy, and I can’t fly precisely as with using hat. Flying close formation and NOE is out of question. Also I’m not effective when using S-8 or gun when flying with FreeTrack since I have big problems with aiming. I was experimenting with the settings, but that also didn’t get bigger results. It is just doing opposite it should – making me tired and ineffective when flying with it. If you want I can send you track file and my FreeTrack profile to see how it looks like. I’m still blaming it on my FreeTrack settings. Since I see that some of you are very happy with its performance, would you share your profile/settings with me? Maybe that will help. Or it’s maybe just me and many years of experience with the hat. Thanks!

Hi guys! I started to create new A-10 campaign that I would like to play in multiplayer mode with other "real" pilots. My intentions were to create really complex campaign in which your tasks would be synchronised with other ground and air units, so I spent couple of days putting all the elements that I wanted, and another week synchronizing them. Off course, finally I added few more A-10s and I marked them as “Client”. Then I started to make the second mission, and right at the beginning of the work I decided to try to start second mission in multiplayer mode, just to see will all the damage around the airport that I made in previous mission still be there, but… I couldn’t open my campaign file in Network Play mode. You can only select mission and video files in network play. So, my question is does anybody knows is it possible at all to make multiplayer campaign, and if yes – how? Thanks! Igor P.S. I have LO FC 1.12b version

Does anybody know how to edit position of the camera in the outside view? In particular, for movie making purpose I would like to be able to move the camera on different positions of the helicopter, for example to “put it” on the wing top. I actually found two ways to do it, but none of them is effective. First one is to increase x, y and z limits of 6DOF in 1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View\Server.LUA. That way, using RShift+RCtrl+Num1 to 9 in F1 view, you can actually get the camera out of the cockpit, but unfortunately, when you do that cockpit details are superimposed over fuselage even when outside. The other way is to change F4 camera position in the same Server.LUA file by changing coordinates of RearCameraPos. This way works fine, but still big problem is the fact that to apply changes of those coordinates, you have to quit the flight, and then start it again. Then, in case you want to put the camera on some very precise location, you will have to make number of adjustments of those coordinates, and that takes time. So, what I’m asking is, is there more effective way to move camera position, for example by using RShift+RCtrl+Num1 to 9 in F4 view. Thanks!

There is large map (ex Soviet military topographic I think) archive on this site maps.poehali.org/en/ I must say that I am impressed by level of details and precision of the terrain applied in DCS BS. To check precision of the coordinates I randomly picked an area near Krasnodar, and measured coordinates of bridge east of Severskaya. First I took bridge coordinates from downloaded map from this site (scale 1:100 000). I measured that bridge coordinates are N 44052’22’’ E 038043’32’’. Then I simply measured coordinates of the same bridge on the map in DCS BS, and coordinates were N 44052’20’’ E 038043’32’’. As you can see, difference is insignificant. I am also posting you pictures of the same area taken from DCS and original map to see similarity between them (note the bridge east od Severskaya). FARPS are not marked on those maps, but if you print them, you can do it your self. Of course, you will find many differences between terrain in BS and on the original map, but for general orientation (and more than that) I am planning to print and use those, just to add bigger realism to the whole thing.

If that's the way it works on Ka-50, then OK. And you are right, first of all I respect ED's policy to recreate fully identical systems with those on real helicopters. After all - it is not a big deal, and I am sure I will get just to it soon.

Well done AlphaOneSix! First I was a bit confused by your reply because I also thought that Mi-17 and Mi-24 are having the same way of trimming. Then I consulted some Mi-17 experts, and they confirmed that you are right – trim button on cyclic stick affect rudders on Mi-17. Maybe it works the same way on Ka-50, but anyway, I still think that it would be better if in DCS BS trim button would not affect rudders, don’t you think so? Also, the autopilot is different on both types (Mi-17 and Mi-24). Anyway I am impressed by your knowledge about Mi-17.
