EGT governor button and INU heater
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Pegaso69's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
According to the flight manual, the INU heater should be on at all times. The EGT temp check is done with the buttons by the EGT guage, there is a high end a low end check button. AFAIK no announcement has been made by ED regarding the "correct" release date of the English version. -
Are the results of user created missions supposed to show up in the pilot log book? I created a mission in the mission editor and as far as I can find everything is set right....my log book pilot is Russian, the player side in the mission is Russian....but the flight time, landings etc from the mission do not reflect in the pilot log book. Instant action mission results show up there though. Any idea if this is supposed to be this way or am I doing something wrong in the mission creation? MD

I ordered it on Oct. 30 and received it yesterday. They sent it airmail but they take a long time to ship. I went ahead and bought the download version several weeks ago. MD

Uhm, wild guess....TrackIR4!! I just got mine not too long ago....works great but it does take some getting used to. If you can map the "center" key to a button on your HOTAS I would recommend you do so. And yes, I have all the Shkval functions including uncage, lock, zoom and frame size mapped to the X52 and it makes it much easier to work with it. I need to get more used to the TrackIR and start using the HMS to point the Shkval.....I think that will make it really quick to get on target. Congrats on the TrackIR! MD

You might want to let your Radeon know that then, because I am averaging 40 fps with a slower CPU and a 8800 GTS 640 Mb. (Q6600 2.4 Ghz). :) My settings and resolution are basically the same as yours except I have civilian traffic "on".

I agree with the idea that a 3D view in the editor for placement of objects would be a wonderful addition!!! Lets hope ED can add it in a patch or something soon.

Have you looked through the key commands list?

Hey thanks GGT! Some good info in the second two links!! Now if I can just digest it all.....

Nice work! Looking forward to all the new stuff that will be coming down the pike for Black Shark!!

I am having a real hard time getting my head around some of the nav stuff as well, I have not had time yet to really come to grips with it and study it. I am sure in the real world the manual for the ABRIS is quite large itself, and the same for the INS system. And that there are some pretty long ground school classes on the use of nav aids and the HSI etc. I am thinking of getting a real-world text on navigation to study. Maybe someone like BeechAV8R could write a how-to for us?

Any info on the various rockets etc?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Obviously there are different warhead options....thats what I was trying to figure out, is which warhead is what. I am sure the same is true for the bigger rockets and maybe even the missles. I haven't loaded up the orange smoke yet but they could be useful in multi-player....who wants to be the FAC? MD -
Are we likely to see a purchasable book of the manual?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Honest989's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes, Wags posted that they are working on that and expect it to be available in January. HTH MD -
X52 Owners....a few questions
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Since BS uses so many commands that require use of a specific key like left alt or right ctrl, does using the SST software recognize the difference between left and right ctrl, alt, or shift? Thanks for the info btw! MD -
I have decided to add two pieces of hardware for BS, a TIR4 and a X52 stick. I used to fly with a nice Thrustmaster setup back in the old Falcon days and I think something similar is going to be helpful in BS. Anyone using the X52 (not Pro) have any tips? Does it seem to be best to set the functions through the sim options or using the SST software? I saw one post where the person mentioned using the thumb slider to zoom the view and that seemed like a good idea...just looking for ideas on how best to set up the X52 for BS. Thanks for any help!!! MD

There are several different variations of some of the rockets available in the payload screen. I only took a quick look at it but if you want to create your own loadout there are a number of different variants...different warheads I am guessing. Any info available on those? Also in case you haven't gotten that far yet, you do need under certain circumstances to let the weapons computer know which rocket type you are firing, see page 2-93 in the manual. MD

Black Shark saves them as .jpg's, yet they do not show up under Windows or with ACDSee.....only in Photoshop. It's wierd and I have not figured it out yet. They are there, but they are hidden from most programs it seems. If I were going to take a bunch of screenies, I would just use screenshooter or a similar utility. MD

Its one of the landing lights....the switch for it is down between the pilots legs on the center console, behind the stick....pretty hard to see. MD
-
I had the same problem....for some strange reason if I look in that folder with Photoshop Elements the pics are in there, but if I look for them with any other photo software they don't show up.......wierd. MD

I don't have mine set up that way (yet) but did you select the correct resolution by adding together the resolution of the two monitors combinedand then selecting that in the game options?
-
They are finalizing the English release right now. It should be out sometime after the first of the year, there is not a firm date yet. They hope to have a demo out soon as well, and the English flight and GUI manuals are availalbe already as well. HTH. MD

Directorys for Screenshots and Pilot photos?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks! For some reason the screen shots will only show up in Photoshop, not in ACDSee or Windows....but I found them. -
Can anyone point me to where the in-game screen shots are saved? I can't find them....they are not in the screenshots directory. And yes I am talking about the ones taken with the PrtScrn/SysRq button in game. I also can't seem to find the directory for the pilot photos? Thx! MD

I agree!! An excellent product! Now we can start eagerly awaiting the next module!! MD
