Finally got around to installing the English DVD version and 1.0.1 patch after playing the Russian download version for the past 10 months or so! However, a problem right off the bat....hitting the PrtScrn causes a crash....any ideas how to fix this??? Thanks! MD OK...found out that it doesn't happen if I check "full screen"......

Personally I have no interest in anything more to do with Flaming Cliffs, and won't be buying whatever it is. I would have preferred to see ED concentrate on the DCS A-10C (and other future modules) rather than pushing these back to mess with more LO or FC stuff. What happened to the "releasing a new module every 9 months" ambition that ED stated? MD

Does Take2 prefer to have them just sitting in thier warehouse gathering dust? Because they don't seem to be shipping them to either Amazon or GoGamer. Are there other vendors Take2 is utilizing for retail sales? :music_whistling: :helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

I don't know what the problem is, but its very very frustrating. The manuals were supposed to have been in the US for distribution weeks ago, Amazon still does not have them and GoGamer apparently did not get very many as they sold through them in a very short time.

Detailed Startup Checklist w/ Explanatory Notes
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to hilikusopus's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I think your checklist is more of a tutorial. A checklist should just be a reminder of WHAT to do, not a guide for those who do not know how to do it. I would hope the new printed manual would have the actual pilots checklists, but I don't know for sure since the supply chain in North America seems to be broken. MD -
Well Pooh!! Now Gogamer is out of stock and Amazon STILL doesn't have it? WTF? This is ridiculous!!!
-
Apparently you did not experience the joy of trying to order the Russian version from a Russian company, or trying time after time to get the download version to...download. I have purchased to date, the Russian download, the Russian DVD, and the English DVD, and will purchase the manual when Amazon gets it in. I just think it all could have gone a little smoother....as EB said, hopefully some lessons are learned....we will see with DCS:A-10 I guess. MD

Its a nice video and I like the detail it goes into. I am not sure many people would pay $50 for it though....if you could do it for $20 or so I think it would sell pretty well. Just my 2 cents though. MD

When I go to Amazon, it still just says "Out of Print" and won't even let me pre-0rder it. The whole release of this sim has been problematic....I hope the next installment goes better.
-
STILL showing "out of print" on Amazon? Any update on availability of these in the US? Does someone besides Amazon have them here? MD
-
I remember reading somewhere once that a American 2.75 in FFAR has about the same amount of explosive force as a 105mm howitzer shell. You certainly would think the 80mm Soviet rocket would pack at least that much punch. MD

F-35!

If Amazon US is going to carry them, could you get them to make them available for pre-order? Right now they show them as "out of print". MD

I finally received my English Black Shark from Amazon. I have been flying a Russian download version with the English cockpit mod. Hows the best way to switch to the english product? Uninstall the Russian version then install the english, install over the top, or ? Any issues to be aware of (other than losing my pilot logs, mods etc.?)

Printed Black Shark Manual Purchase, North America
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes......a printed manual is badly needed for a sim this complex! MD -
Any word on the printed manual?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Mad Dog 7.62's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So....I guess the bottom line is nothing from ED about the printed manual. I had thought it was supposed to be out in January, based on what Wags posted back in Nov. or Dec. -
Any word on when a printed manual will be available? I think it would be much easier to get into the guts of this sim without having to alt-tab out and look things up in the .pdf's. I am about to give up waiting on ED and have one printed at Kinkos......

I have the Shkval slew mapped to a hat, and use pinkie & left/right hat for the box size and pinkie & up/down for the zoom. Works great for me. MD
-
Maybe, but the next release is supposed to use a whole new game engine, right? So in a way they are starting from scratch again. MD

I believe that an integrated simulation of various ground, sea and air platforms was what was originally envisioned and is the reason for the "Digital Combat Simulator" brand name, and why they show tanks, ships, helo's and planes on thier logo on thier home page. Of course that was a long time ago.....for now lets just hope for the next aircraft to not take nearly as long as the Ka-50 did....tanks and ships might be a ways in the future.

That's pretty cool....much simpler than alt-tabbing out of BS to set affinity!! Good find!

'Laser' Malfunction after RE-ARM bug - any news?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Dropbear's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
With the reputation Russian military hardware has for being simple, robust, and reliable, a laser that has a service life of 13 minutes seems a little.....un-Russian. -
DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)

Can you give the less enlightened among us some guidance on how the script works and how to install it? -
'Laser' Malfunction after RE-ARM bug - any news?
Mad Dog 7.62 replied to Dropbear's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So....5 series of 16 laser bursts means that the laser "fails" after 80 uses. 16 cycles of 10 seconds x 5 = a useable life of just over 13 minutes for the laser? And thats allowing it to cool for 30 minutes between cycles.....I am certainly not a laser expert but that doesn't sound right. I can see a need to let the laser cool....but for it to fail altogether after 13 minutes of use does not seem right. And in any case, the OP is right....we need to know exactly how this "feature" works so we know how the cooling cycles and life cycle of the laser is calculated and what we can do to avoid having it fail at a critical time.....I am sure the real pilots have that info.
