  1. A basic setup for an client-operated ECM platform for wiser heads than mine to program in CTLD. It brings a new dimension to MP. ECM-1 Simple Escort Jammer.miz
  2. Actually you are right. Thanks buddy! Just corrected it. 78.48.154.121:10308
  3. I just started a new tiny server, specialized in "private parties". It is for organized groups of 10 to 12 to challenge each other. The emphasis is on strategy and tactics. Reconnaissance and coordination are fundamental. (Cockpit Visual Recon required, except for Mig-21s). It will be based on Proxy Wars between Third World Countries between the early 60's and late 70's I.E. mostly Third Gen Fighters. I need people to test the server at its max capacity of 22 players. There is so far one mission, more will come later. Name of the server: "Sagas of the Raven Kings". IP Adress: 78.48.154.121 The server is mostly 24/7 available, but if you and your fellow pilots are interested, send me a PM and I will set it up for you at a particular date and time. Thanks for your help! Luis (Phoenix).
  4. Try to reproduce this one. I chose this very (in)convenient moment to start a project for a new server, and in my very first open-to-the-public mission most of the tanks/trucks/arty either don´t move when given a path, don´t follow the streets and highways, use the bridges as parking lots or make a single jolt forwards, fart once and move no more. Either they got the digital version of Poliomielitis or somebody replaced their universal carburetor with that of a Hyundai Elantra and poured marihuana in their fuel tanks. I´ve got even my toes crossed for a quick fix.
  5. Not only the A.I. aircraft. Also the ground vehicles suffer from a serious Poliomielitis problem: I chose this very (in)convenient moment to start a project for a new server, and in my very first open-to-the-public mission most of the tanks either don´t move when given a path, don´t follow the streets and highways, use the bridges as parking lots or make a single jolt forwards, fart once and move no more. 6. Dear ED. As soon as you get past fumigating all 2.7 bugs, I'd like your MP division to address something that looks trivial but is not. And here are my 3 requests/suggestions/proposals: -FIRST: Until now, when we enter a server, the only possible limit to the number of clients is a general value. That means we are having very unbalanced battles with for example four blues against 20+ reds or vice-versa, and players are not really forced to work as a team. I'd like to have a server in which, no matter how few players there is on one side, you can't have more than a fixed number on the other, independently of the total slots allowed. So, any new arrival can only "reinforce the underdog". That has the added advantage of mission creators being able to start a new modality of "kill teams": 10 against 10, each side limited to a certain level of manpower but with a wide array of options to log into: 1-All 10 driving tanks, 2-All 10 planning on F10, 3-All 10 delivering troops via Helos, 4-All 10 on a Deepstrike mission, 5-All 10 on CAP, 6-All on Anti-Ship and so on... or ANY COMBINATION of the aforementioned. We need to be able to "play chess at a deeper level", and that single change would be an "option multiplier" all by itself. -SECOND: Some funny clowns tend to switch sides for a while just to sabotage the opponent in many creative ways, and come back to their original team. I don't like "double agents". We need, thus, an additional option in the MISSION OPTIONS menu: a switch that allow us to prevent clients from hopping from coalition to coalition as they like. It already exists as a LUA script, but better if it is implemented. -THIRD: I LOVE Cockpit Visual Recon mode!! It has so much potential, particularly when you combine it with all ground units on "invisible ON" mode!! The problem is that, so far, I mark say, an Armour Formation for my Tactical Cmdr and it remains marked on the F10 map indefinitely, until I get killed or untill I switch to another slot, whether the target moves or remains on that position. Hmmm!.... sub-optimal.... I want CVR to mark a target for a while. Better if I can choose for how long. And it should not depend on me staying alive, unless I device some kind of Photo-Reconnaisance Mission, in which "the rolls have to be brought back to base and processed". Even better if I can choose which units can do CVR and which not. So I can have "dedicated recon platforms". That's it for the time being. Please give it a thought. Thanks'n cheers! Phoenix
  7. Just in case this somehow slipped past the Community's Inquisitorial Division: I am starting with a new server, and I noticed that since 2.7, the ground units either "jump back a meter" and don't move anymore, every time I give them a path, and/or move for just a quarter of the distance after I send them for a second time. That with individual vehicles. Multi-vehicle units do the same. with the added complication that they don't necessarily follow the road and at the end of the path they make a total mess of their formation. Getting them back on the road requires driving each one directly. I tried also with a couple A.I. Mi-24's and they don't even take off from the base, so I guess it is a generalized bug, not only ground-related. This is happening both in the Mission Editor and the server itself and is particularly damaging for servers heavy on Combined Arms. If you were already informed, my apologies. Thanks'n cheers! Phoenix
  8. A-4C Skyhawk, now in beta 3 version. It passes IC, more armament, very realistic flying characteristics, 4 (FOUR! VIER! CUATRO!) Sidewinders and full comms menu!

    All hail Megatron!!

  9. I need help with that. There's very little information about it, and a bit confusing. The manual doesn't seem to include it, although it is potentially a very powerful tool in multiplayer. My questions are: 1-Does it work in Multiplayer at all? 2-Does it mark the targets on the map or just relays an audio/text warning? 3-Does it work even if the targeted units have the option "Invisible" on? 4-If I fly in multiplayer and the F10 setting is for "Map Only" or "My A/C", does it still mark the target on the Tactical Cmdr's map view? 5-If yes to the previous, how long does a unit remain visible to the opposing coalition after being marked? 6-Why don't the Mig-21 and ground units have the option to Cockpit Visual Recon? Thanks in advance for the info.

  11. LOL!! Damn I am bad in math!!
  12. Ahaaa!! Question 62 of that video. Yep! It is a matter of profitable business, which I can understand. Now, taking on account that the fans made already a lot of the work with the A-4, if ED could get the permission from Boeing and rework the mod, I have no problem with actually buying it. It'd be a product guaranteed to succeed because everybody loves it already. 30 bucks, 40 bucks. No problem. That's between 60 to 80 beers and I don't drink. :D
  13. Simple human nature: Now that I have the A-4, I want the future A-7 and I MUST have it! That's how people end up with huge collections! I have models that, after a year I haven't even learnt how to fly! Yep!:mea culpa!:D
  14. Pure, unadulterated Truth!
  15. I know this topic has been discussed like a Zillion times, but in the name of Mercy I will stubbornly insist on it! Dear ED: Beautiful mod as it is, client-operated Skyhawks are totally dependent on the mercy of a GCI player through SRS who may or may not be available. The existence of the Community A-4 Skyhawk doesn't affect your sales. At least not more than the existence of the SU-25 you already give us for free. He who doesn't buy other aircraft is because he won't spend on them or he can't afford it, in which case Su-25 or A-4 doesn't make any difference. Or does it? So, please... Please!... PLEAAAASE! Allow the A-4 to have at least a simple radio system like the Frogfoot´s or the A-10A´s! (or at least tell us how to copy-paste the damn thing from them! Really!). I don´t know anything about programming, and I've heard you have your important bits of secret coding to protect. But you can find a way. This wouldn't cost you anything and the broad DCS Community would LOVE you for the gist, to the point it may actually boost your own sales of current and upcoming products. We are not only your target-market. We are also your fan-base. And some really good fans honored you with a beautiful mod. Think about it. Best regards, Luis
  16. Hi everybody. Please correct me if I missed something but as far as I can see, for the Tactical Cmdr or the Jtac/Operator is enough that a ground asset drives by or a friendly aircraft flies close to any enemy target, (either land, sea or air) for it to be immediately marked on the CGI screen. That kind of multi-sensor-fusion-and-network-automatic-integration is the realm of 4++ and 5th generation fighters like the Super Hornet, Typhoon, F-22/35/Su-50, but if you are thinking on a mission with F-5s against Mig-21s is totally unrealistic, let alone a WWII scenario... Therefore, I wish ED could make it possible for mission developers to decide which A.I. units of any type can "electronically share" with the Cmdr/Jtac/Operator what they can see. Kind of a Visual Recon Option for A.I. that you can activate or deactivate for each unit, similar to the "Radio usage when contact/engage/kill target" that we already have but related only to the display on the map. With that "auto-recon" disabled for units controlled by humans, the Commander gets only what EWRs detect in the air, by triangulation of active enemy radars (like now) or what allied units selectively report through the CVR mode on the ground, and just for a limited, pre-determined ammount of time if the detected contacts moves, to force constant updates by recon units. All this customizable separately for Blues and Reds. I know this sounds like a letter to Santa, but that would allow for more realism, raises the importance of commanders and operators (who would actually get quite a handful of work!), maybe reduces the ammount of computational processes and certainly makes for excellent "Armed Reconnaissance Missions". I would also love if the Tactical cmdr could only see air units and the Jtac/Operator could see only ground assets and targets. BTW: An option for dedicated "Air-to-air" AWACS and "Air-to-ground" Joint Stars, each linked to one of the aforementioned slots would be wonderful too! Right now, you set up an AWACS and it starts automatically picking up both. Please excuse me if somebody already brought up this topic and I failed to see it. Greetings, Luis
  17. I installed and flew the A-4 Skyhawk today and I can only praise the team for their wonderful work. I bought a little server not long ago and I am currently planning some missions. I'd love to include the Skyhawk. I have only two questions, though: 1-Yes, the radio is unavailable, but can players communicate normally using SRS? Haven't tried it yet. 2-In the server itself, does it show up as a "pure model" or should I un-click the "only pure models" limitation. Thanks.
  18. Does anybody know servers which currently support the A-4? If somebody could provide an IP Adress, would be even better! Thanks!!
  19. To think that we actually had a naval trainer in the Hawk (the same that was taken out).
  20. I got very excited after the official announcement of the A-7 Corsair II, and no doubt that in a couple months I'm gonna be (again) biting chunks out of my desk, waiting for the release of yet another beauty. But, I can't help thinking on the good, old, humble A-4 that that community team, with such good faith and dedication made for us. I understand the mod is not available anymore and is not compatible with the last version of DCS. It kinda hurts a bit, so I'm gonna play the "Make-Pluto-A-Planet-Again" routine and hope for the best. Here is my case: What happened with the Hawk (the british trainer) was sad. I can understand that business are business and if there's too little common ground between two companies, well, those things can happen. But I can imagine it was a bitter turn-off for many. Time for sugar: If there was a way for ED to give the Skyhawk a bit of love and make it at least "pure-client-compatible", the community would just love you. Guaranteed! Even better: if possible, offer it together for free with the Su-25 and the TF-51 in a future DCS version, therefore avoiding "legal complications" (?). Far from being a threat to A-7 sales, the A-4's (and ONLY the A-4's) resurrection idea is an interest case: 1-It gains you the heart of the community by showing even more generosity and honoring the community team. 2-It teases air-to-ground-oriented pilots, who later won't resist the temptation of an upgrade in the form of the A-7. One can almost sarcastically argue "the money you don't need to pay for the A-4 gets you the A-7". What? That if I have an A-7 I don't need an A-4?! C'mon. If that was true, everybody would stick only to the Hornet or the Harrier, which are arguably even better. Truth is that no one wants to miss a single piece of the collection. 3-At a multiplayer mission design level, the A-4 is an excellent partner for the F-5: the Tiger being a good A-A fighter with decent A-G capabilities and the Skyhawk a good striker with decent A-A capabilities (Same applies to the Fishbed/Fitter, Air Force Phantom/Thud, Navy Phantom/Corsair and Tomcat/Hornet combos). 4-To have the A-4 mod is a MUST for the upcoming Falklands Map. There's no way around it and Razbam seems not to have included it in the project, instead concentrating on other aircraft. That says a lot about the success of the Community Skyhawk, and the recognition it really deserves. I know, ED. This is business and you guys gotta earn your daily bread like everybody else. But this exception would -in my estimation- be very cost-effective for you. Is like: "Yeah, here's the money! I buy your Porsche, your Masseratti and your Ferrari!... OK! ...but let me keep my good'ol Volkswagen Beetle". I'm sure I'm not the only one with these thoughts, and if there's a memo I didn't get, I offer my apologies. Please give it a thought. My best regards, Luis
  21. Thanks a lot MeerCat. You are right, I don't know anything about it. Tonight I will do a bit of research into it! :D Cheers!
  22. Hi everybody. Please forgive me if I am posting on the wrong place. I am just starting a little server with high expectations but very little knowledge. Makes me feel like a teenager again. As my very first mission, I tried to create something simple, well balanced, straight-to-the-point and at the same time great, challenging and dynamic, but I fear I am at the end of what I can do alone (Reminds me of my very first date: went on it for the very same reasons and it didn't go that well either). Main problem are the triggers and mission goals (again, same as on that date): FIRST PROBLEM: I assigned "Normal" Points in the Mission Goals and "Flag Points" in the triggers for each bomb which lands inside a particular trigger zone, and for each airplane that "dies". Now, every time a client switches aircraft or leaves the server, it counts as "having died" even if it wasn't shot down. I just want shot-down aircraft to give points. I found out about this issue through the "Mission Progress" on the GUI control during a test and it took me already half an ounce of my neurons to figure out what was happening, let alone why. Dunno how to fix it. :( SECOND PROBLEM: I want to protect the server from killjoys who log-in and just for shits and giggles bomb their own base, strafe their own mates and leave. Sometimes they manage to demotivate everybody, and I want my visitors to have fun, free from such annoyances. So I placed triggers to make planes @$$-plode the moment their pilot shoots any weapon inside a 1 mile zone, centered around his own base. I would even love to know how to rig them directly to the Fire Canon and Fire Weapon buttons. System be like: -A funny mofo, uh?! Wait for it.... -Click-BOOM! -Good job! Now go get your mama change your diaper!! Would be desirable and even hilarious, but is not working. I tested it. I go click, and EVERYBODY goes boom, not just me, the perpetrator. :( THIRD PROBLEM: I'd like to have a way to send a warning message to a coalition every time there is an Air to Air "blue-on-blue/red-on-red" situation like: "A fratricide just happened! Please ID properly before shooting" or alternatively: "Yep! If it looks like a Mig, puffs like a Mig and zooms like a Mig... is probably a Viggen". No idea how to do that, and believe me, I've been trying hard. The message is not a problem. To find the options for the trigger is :( CURRENT STATUS, SNAFU: Here I am, 2:07 a.m. with the red eyes of a lab rabbit on marihuana from staring at the monitor for hours, out of ideas, out of patience and with no solutions. I am stubborn but not stupid, so I decided to accept defeat, and attached a copy of the mission, hoping a Good Samaritan with more experience gives me a hand on this. I don't even expect him/her/it to fix it for me. Just tell me how, and I would be eternally grateful. Thank you in advance. Yours, Luis Cottonmouths in the Cotton Fields.miz
  23. And give us the Thud, just to round it up!!
  24. I made a little test and, in DCS, the E-2 is detecting a Mig-21 head-on alt 6000 mts with background clutter at little less than 180 nautical miles. The A-50 detects an F-5 at some 150nm. I have no hard data on the Sentry but if I remember well, it picks fighter sized targets at around 230 nm.
  25. My appologies if I failed to ask on the right place, but this is a rather odd question. :D I have two computers: Got an old Alienware Aurora R4, (core i7, 16GB, 1 Tera, GTX 1080, GTX 780) long ago, bought an Occulus Rift, and since it works with any program except DCS, I save a couple pennies and got a Helios Predator 500, (i7, 36GB 1 tera, GTX 1070). So, I'm waiting for the new DCS Online Server Software to come out, and in the meantime I'm designing missions for a possible future server. I have to compromise every time I play a mission and reduce the quality to avoid the VR, acting up. The question is: given that a complex mission is a bit too heavy for either computer, if I use them in network with one as server and the other as client, do I get better results, since they would be sharing the workload? I know the question sounds dumb, but a "yes" is not necessary self evident for somebody who knows so little. Wise is who in doubt asks, though. Thanks in advance.
