  1. It's my understanding that RAF Tornado aircraft use the ALARM instead of the HARM. I'm not aware of them being able to carry the HARM at all. The ALARM is better anyway due to it's loiter capability. <ducks> As for differences the engines in the German ECR are the same as the GR4 in RAF service being the RB199 MK105 but the Italian ECR aircraft have older RB199 MK103 engines as they are originally converted Luftwaffe IDS aircraft. As for other differences I have no idea other than the fact that the Luftwaffe ECR aircraft originally came fitted with some kind of recce equipment which later got taken out. The Italian ones being originally Luftwaffe IDS aircraft never had this system installed.
  2. DCS: Tornado IDS Hey guys! I know this is not on ED's roadmap and about as likely to be created as an F22 module but I just thought I'd get together with all the Tornado enthusiasts and imagine how much a DCS Tornado module would rock. Personally I'd be most interested in the RAF GR4 aircraft but for all I know these latest aircraft are totally classified. The idea of a upgraded cold war strike aircraft with such combat experience, fast and low capability and modern stand off weapons is such a pull for me. Not too sure what the workload would be like on an older aircraft like this especially as it's a two crewer. Will be interesting to see how ED deals with this same issue in the Apache. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ePpaNB6MzU&feature=rec-HM-rn So what do you all think? Also just have to add that whatever ED releases next I'll buy it. Black Shark is a total gem in the military flight sim market and anything that comes next will be a must have for me.
  3. Excellent flying Mr Shrubbo, very entertaining to boot.
  4. I find the Vikhr does not track very well in air to air engagements but the cannon works great. I never have any trouble taking down enemy helicopters with it. Use the helmet sight to lock them up with the air to air mode selected and then a quick burst from the cannon in HE mode will take most copters down pretty well.
  5. @GF_Mastiff Just to update your world knowledge my old son, there has been no USSR since 1991. Carry on ;-)
  6. You think thats good, I just lost a nav light today. Brilliant level of detail being able to loose lights. No wonder we have a backup landing light modelled.
  7. Thanks for the Christmas present Chizh. Will certainly be buying this one also when it comes out. Happy flying!
  8. Sorry I think I was unclear in my post, I was actually recommending the use of the engine power gauge not the EGT gauge. You are of course totally correct that the EGT is useless due to the small changes in it's readings.
  9. Hey ryuzu, like I said I could well be wrong but I don't think the rotor pitch is useful in this respect as it is purely a product of how much collective you are pulling. It doesn't take in to account airspeed, pitch, roll, altitude, temperature, engine state etc etc.
  10. Hi People, Sorry Press but I don't think thats what Bradmick is looking for as the rotor pitch will remain constant no matter how much effective power the engine is producing. Now keeping in mind I'm a PPL pilot and as such have no real world experience with a machine this complex I think you are after either the EGT gauges on the right of the front panel or the engine power indicators on the wall panel. Neither of these will be exactly what you are used to but I think the engine power indicator is as close as you will get to a torque indicator. It actually measures air pressure at the compressor outlet but that should be a good gauge of the power being produced. The only problem with it compared with a torque readout on an Apache is the scale is a little hard to read accurately. Still should do the trick.
  11. I've not done it myself but I have fired many a KH25 ingame and this is how I would imagine it would work. Designating aircraft Turn laser to standby Switch laser mode to designator Uncage Shkval Ground stabilise and point at your target then press designate once more, your laser should now be on and you will get a countdown on the HUD. Engaging aircraft Leave laser in off position Master arm on Select kh25 Switch from auto to manual on weapons panel You should now have launch authorisation Fire!! Now of course this could all be nonesense as I haven't tried but if I had to guess then this is how I imagine it would work. Furthermore I would expect there to be angular limits to the visibility of the laser spot and other launch parameters I don't even know about. Of course none of this will work with Vikhr as it's a beam rider as mentioned many times before.
