  1. They are HEI not purely incendiary so they go bang then fizz ;-) When firing combat mix you shouldn't see anything, you only get tracers with the training rounds.
  2. @johnv2pt0 You are one smart chappie. +REP
  3. I agree this will totally rock. ED you are so full of win!!
  4. Yes as you will be superimposing the CCIP dot on a more accurately positioned SPI on release.
  5. I don't have any problem hitting targets with the Mk82 in CCRP mode even without 5 mil. Are you lasing the target before release? A short tap on the nose wheel steering key is all that is needed to get accurate range information. Otherwise the computer calculates release based on terrain information and if your slant angle is quite low this will produce a large error. If you don't understand any of this then I suggest you watch Excessive Headspaces excellent video
  6. IRL I've only ever seen scratches on private light aircraft canopies. Not too sure about airliners but certainly not on anything military.
  7. Like Bengo said there is already TARS. Have you guys tried it? It's the only way to fly online in my opinion. Check it out here:- http://www.excessiveheadspace.com/tars/
  8. I'm quite surprised at the level of confusion here. I think that perhaps too many people have been watching gun cam videos on youtube where the point of view is fixed. Anyone having seen a HUD in real life would realise that the way ED have modelled it is absolutely perfect and the first time bar Black Shark that this has been represented correctly in a desktop simulation.
  9. Easy to see with the NVGs.
  10. APU winding up and then down again signifies that there is no fuel supply. Check fore and aft pumps are running and then open the APU fuel valve.
  11. If I had to guess I'd say that at idle the engine isn't providing enough energy to run the hydraulic pump hard enough to counteract the hydraulic load of the brakes in use.
  12. The following video neatly summarises my feeling on the release of the beta PS. I love everyone who works for ED, is related to someone who works for ED or has ever heard of ED.
  13. I would second these wishlist items. The idea of persistent airframe condition is very exciting.
  14. I would vote for the Tornado IDS although I doubt that ED are able to pay too much attention to this poll. Whatever they are able to get docs and permission for I will buy as at this level of detail I'll fly anything.
  15. It's never happened to me yet and I regularly re-arm and re-fuel so I can smash some more targets. I wonder if all these people who post about burnt out lasers are misusing it in some way.
  16. Did you have both engine governors turned on?
  17. This modeller certainly knows how to make the hog pretty. Having also seen the cockpit renders posted a little while back I can see this is going to totally rock. At last I can retire my dog eared copy of A10 Cuba! :-D
  18. I'll go poke about and see if I can find any manuals and information in the public domain. I think it's highly unlikely though, the RAF have always been very paranoid about even minor operational details emerging about their aircraft.
  19. It's my understanding that RAF Tornado aircraft use the ALARM instead of the HARM. I'm not aware of them being able to carry the HARM at all. The ALARM is better anyway due to it's loiter capability. <ducks> As for differences the engines in the German ECR are the same as the GR4 in RAF service being the RB199 MK105 but the Italian ECR aircraft have older RB199 MK103 engines as they are originally converted Luftwaffe IDS aircraft. As for other differences I have no idea other than the fact that the Luftwaffe ECR aircraft originally came fitted with some kind of recce equipment which later got taken out. The Italian ones being originally Luftwaffe IDS aircraft never had this system installed.
  20. DCS: Tornado IDS Hey guys! I know this is not on ED's roadmap and about as likely to be created as an F22 module but I just thought I'd get together with all the Tornado enthusiasts and imagine how much a DCS Tornado module would rock. Personally I'd be most interested in the RAF GR4 aircraft but for all I know these latest aircraft are totally classified. The idea of a upgraded cold war strike aircraft with such combat experience, fast and low capability and modern stand off weapons is such a pull for me. Not too sure what the workload would be like on an older aircraft like this especially as it's a two crewer. Will be interesting to see how ED deals with this same issue in the Apache. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ePpaNB6MzU&feature=rec-HM-rn So what do you all think? Also just have to add that whatever ED releases next I'll buy it. Black Shark is a total gem in the military flight sim market and anything that comes next will be a must have for me.
  21. Excellent flying Mr Shrubbo, very entertaining to boot.
  22. I find the Vikhr does not track very well in air to air engagements but the cannon works great. I never have any trouble taking down enemy helicopters with it. Use the helmet sight to lock them up with the air to air mode selected and then a quick burst from the cannon in HE mode will take most copters down pretty well.
  23. @GF_Mastiff Just to update your world knowledge my old son, there has been no USSR since 1991. Carry on ;-)
  24. You think thats good, I just lost a nav light today. Brilliant level of detail being able to loose lights. No wonder we have a backup landing light modelled.
