How realistic is the AI in a fight?
BlacleyCole replied to DCS FIGHTER PILOT's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I haven’t heard about an ai improvement but I think your missing out on a Lott by not findding a squad of like minded flyers. I’ve seen strick by the books squads that you can. Learn a lot from to squads. That allow you to progress at your own pace. Some are aiircraafr restrictive others arre open to any dcs aircraft and get too getter for fun. The assistance you get from such squads usually relate to what you put in the Moore you put in. The more you get. Out exponentially. I was in the military for 20. Years and when I retired except for a few friends that retired give or take a few years before or after me I felt lost.. I had this suppport system, and the comrade of my felllow service members before retiring then. I had thee va system and Tri care after Tri care. In my area wanted to send me to doctors in three local area I was lost with the va everything was in one location they covered transportation costs provided a. Room for the night if required or desired. I stumbled in to aa cowboy shooting sport. Game and after a while found a great bunch people that made up for my lost I had from. Retiring. Then. Last year I had to give up competitive shooting do to health issues. Then last November I stumbled in to dcs. I’ve be flying FlightSim apps since the mid 80’s and never joined a virtual flying organization. But I flew dcs for a few months and decided to try the map side. I. Really felt I found something in my life that was missing. The first couple didn’t work out as. I. Hoped between picking the hardest aircraft to fly and some technical isssuues with my equipment the firstlet meek goo initially for. Lack ooff progresssiion same. With the second plus. They felt tThat I wasn’t a goood t since I was. Asking questions about other squads. Then I found a unit that let you put in what you wanted and would help you when you asked for it. I really like this squad and I’m sstill a member but it’s been a month or more since I was aablle to fly with them because of a combination Orr hheeaalth issues and tearing my pit down to raise it up to make it easier. Toggetin and out of. I was recruited in this other squad and really found a home there. I. Let them know up front I was having both tech and physical problems it didn’t matter.. as. I’m. Learning the new squad I saw they could use some of the information I had gathered in my dcs career I. Started assisting them with. This and that and was quickly. premoted twice once in rank and secondly in position. The squad has transformed allot ssiince my recruitment and is turning into a real military organization. So ass you can see the multiplayer side has a lot more to offer than just a group of flyers flying together. So take another look into it find a squad with like minded ideas. And give thhem a try. -
Well I’m thinking about building a series of sequential missions to follow a combination or USA fog syllabus and the 23fts syllabus. Between the two would provide ground school, simulator missisions plus training missions until the course is complete I don’t have the syllabuses in front on me but do realize the first 10 are ground school without an aircraft beining available sim or real. After that there is a ground school with some flight time. Then you hit the simulator for eps 6 missions of then then you get in to the actual flight training of the aircraft and thethis phase I believe come the basic warfighter training then from there the advanced warfighter skill s section and iirc the last is on sling load trading and other specialized tasks. I’m thinking based on the number of flights in the syllabus something around 120 iircbetween all three phases. I was Donna condense them down as much as possible. For the 10day nonflight day. Session I was thinking of condensing it to two days first mission basic an intro with commanders breifing and the other require briefing super the syllabuses. Then the second mission a follow up review of the info in the first mission and a review using chucks guide for the aircraft in a wand a format using either multiple choice probably using the radio menu other option if I’m not able to figure a better way . The sim mission I’m thinking will be flight missions instead especially if I can figure out the way to create the failures I need after reviewing it verbally first then tinge a few minutes after the last question the first failure proceeds the first two are hot start and hang start then get pass both those and the several other eps for that mission then have the flight to the farp. Ok here’s why I posted the above the first mission is to provide the student packet of files needed per the syllabus plus chucks guide and blank cards that will be used through the course over and over so the student will be able to print the out as needed for each flight for several.of them. Plus give them their destination farp so they can do the flight planing and other stuff and have it reviewed before the third mission. So two missions before the flight you will be given your destination fat and aircraft config and weight. The second mission is a review of several of the manuals, and chucks guide. Plus a spill on figuring you torque rsetingspower settings, ca, etc the do e review of chuck guide sorta plug get your second flight mission info If you were in a squad and were given you this type of initial training whether you were new or very experienced would you follow along each mission will be between 1-2.5 hours in length the shorter times are the non flying missions. As much as possible the ai or text/sounds will be within the mission if a video is required for training it will pause the mission see a you tube video the resume the mission weather a ground training or flight training mission. I’m working on it a lot will use cockpit highlight and similar ,process techniques tocheck your settings and reading and comparing to the desired ones. If your reading is a little out and has a minor or nor effect it just will be annotated if it’s where it might cause a problem the ai ip will point it out and expect immediate correction it the reading is so far out that it effects safety the op will haut training and take over control a Nd hen hault the mission. Does this sound like great training o you?

You need to do the page up page down thingy

Have you googled fora schematic?

The commander flys the ka-50 from time time i have it but I’m concentrating on the huey

Thanks Fee ill try my best and post my mistake afterwards

I need the ai ip to be able to tell the sp which farp to fly to. That’s the Ned for he randomized selection and since we have three capability I would like to use it. This mission will be basically be ran twice with different eps enroute.firstflight plan a head to farp x enroute after startup by -10 group a eps second flight fly to farp after startup an Flight by -10group b eps. That’s the first two missionsand if they don’t complete or pass either or both flights they will need to redo the one(s) they fail you complete. These missions can have one of several outcomes pass Light a veteran, pass with some dings, fail will dings, is stops in and ends mission orcrash and walk away or the worst case crash and burn. I can use some help with this since this will be my first attempt at this level of automation. If someone has the I’d list for the huey so I can use it with the highlight cockpit elements it would assist me in not having to deep dive half a dozen lua files finding this info myself. Any thing I’ve missed please add it to the list of item I need help with. Almost finished the static item setupat the farps each has a command post, farp ammo supply, farp fuel depot a couple tents a uh1 ans Willy’s Jeep right now the Jeep a helos at the farp are ai.next will be add the security team toeachfarp. Just so there somneone to keep the lookylus out since it’s nv.once the statics and units are complete I’m going for the voice over intro and welcome bit at Nellis they will be give their destination and will need to fill out their flt pln plus weight and balance and takeoff power plus emergency power math and have then checked prior to entering the huey. Once in the huey they will preform a -10 start up take off once steady we will try a hover check between 3-10’ By radar altimeter once know that I calf power is close we head out climbing to the designated altitude and course heading before getting to comfortable your first simulated ep will activate I’m thinking the first I’ll be. Ask and respond under pressure format, the second might be an inflight emergency and we will see how it goes from there ie how far from farp etc. I have to review the syllabus for ensuring everything is covered. Theflight back if there is one mightreiew the eps of the flight out and have its own eps it might be Flight two or the rest of Flight 1.after the Light is over ie bak at Nellis if so luck there will be a ebreif on the sp actions and if possible a way to send a offline message of the students debrief. For mission tweaking. Mission 1 must be passed before mission 2 will be available and on down the line there will be a sp record online notebook managed by the squads rotary training person so they and the command know how they are doing.

I’m going to do my best to Mimic the rotary pilot syllabus for the uh-1h. The initial part of the first mission will we the welcome and intro to the school house at nellis AFB. Then get in to the what be required of the students during this course. It will explain all that flights will be from nellis afb to one of the several farps then either back to the house here at nellis afb or to one of the other farps. The distance between each point is 95 km +-5km. They will start up Using the -10 Checklists both normal and emergency procedures. Their actions will be followed and an action out of normal limits will be noted. You can exepect quizzes on eps and actual eps on the flights and how you preform will be graded. And that the first few missions. Here’s where I need help creating these missions: 1). I want the mission to select the farp randomly and while I’m sure it can be done in me I need an example to follow 2)I’m going to be highly reliant on the *cockpit highlight element action but im not experienced in using them I see how they are doing used in the mission uh-1h-Rt-startup.mis but I would be copying not learning here is were help can come in this area ID:<>xx. Is this a number of the item or a numbrt you assign? Elem Name:xxxxxxxxx I’m thinking this is the name of the item where do I find these names and must is match the ID above? 3)Size of Box: xxxxxx. Assuming this is how large area you want highlighted? 4)Avionics Plug-in have no clue what this is? How does this see if the switch was placed in the correct position? I’m assuming the item you highlight you can check for the movement of the it by checking a flag but where is that at in this trigger I know of several place where this file hangs. First is waiting on the spacebar to be presses I changed the flag to get past that plug the next Hangup is when you turn on the first radio and I havet gotten past it yet. I gave a description of how I plan to build the mission I’ve built the farps and gave them different name and freq but I need to figure out the dcs random command to be able to assign it to a student and only one student at a time the the next mission would hopefully assign the student a different farp each time because they will be plotting their course intially it will be straight line gradually getting lower using the terrain to hide the helo. I’m not sure of the later missions I now it will be getting into the comm and nav systems more in-depth and what to use the same system of reading the flag for a switch or controls later on I’m needing the list that list the id# and elem names plus any other. List that might fall in to this stuff. I tried going to the website mentioned in the manual for something similar put the site threw a 404 error. I would go to the ed wiki but everytime it is broken when looking at it from safari on my iPad I might have to look at it on the pc to see what I’m missing.

Thanks I was looking in the wrong place

Looking for the author of the huey cold start training mission
BlacleyCole replied to BlacleyCole's topic in DCS: UH-1H
I was going to change it up to match the -10 then go in to a flight so the only actual coping would be reuse the sound files and those can be redone and the idea of highlighting the switches -
I tied to send this private but you have exceeded something so it forces me to leave it here Are you the owner/author of this file? I’m wanting to you parts of your uh-1h training files in several missions I’m creating based on the 23rd training squadron uh-1h trading syllabus. I have some questions on the mission file and the techniques you used.
-
I’m trying to run the huey cold start training mission from the mission editor to learn how it works. Luckily the triggers show and in the first trigger is except it dint recognize when the space bar is pressed I put a smoke marker at the end of the first trigger actions it works. Put it at the beginning of the second triggers actions it doesn’t pop. What’s wrong? Edit changed the flag 2 from false and it goes on to work. So I guess flag 2 is the spacebar or at one time did. Is there a list of all the flags and what they stand for. Also a list of the Id numbers in the huey cockpit.
-
As I posted in the mission builder forum I’m looking for the list of ids to be Cale to highlight and or read their state si I can build a few trading missions in the huey for my squad. I’ve already built several farps in the Nellis AFB area that are around an hour from Nellis AFB and the two closest to it. The idea is take off from nafb and Flyto a random farp land that’s the odd missision the even will be back to nafb.each farp has a unique name and freq. So can you point me to the huey list of ids? So I can highlight and check the state of the switches, controls and gauges.
-
I’m wanting to make some training missions for my squad for the huey on the nttr map. I know that each switch and suspect gauge has an ID for reading it, highlighting it etc. The first 6 missions are simulator missions in r/l but I’m going to do them as reqular missions I’ve build several farps around Nellis AFB that are approximately an hour from nafb and the two closest to it. The idea Is take off from Nellis AFB in mission one fly to a random farp deal with simulated eps enroute. And land then the next mission will take off from the farp and fly back to nafb doing the eps for mission two. Each farp is a little different to let you know if you finding the correct farp plus each has a cup and unique freq. What I’m needing first to get started is a list of the ids for each switch, control and gauge to be able to highlight for the initial mission and check states on for the rest.can you point me to it?

Check your directory structure I’ve seen several mos that unzipped to something like this path/mod name/mod name/mods/tech So check the directory structure to insure it does not use a double mod name
