  1. FPS are always locked at 60 for me... and i usually gauge performance by observing CPU/GPU loads and utilization... while i did not perform any conclusive testing,.. i did notice a higher CPU load after the second update to 2.5.2.18144 in the Hornet... it seems to have taken some of the load off of the second utilized core, and applied it to the primary core... again.. i did not officially test this... but i do believe i have accurately observed it.. Unfortunately, it seems to be putting a rather high load on the primary core now as compared to the previous update.. this is all on the Caucasus map BTW...
  2. been observing Hornet performance closely... update 2.5.2.18144 seemed to increase cpu utilization on the primary core... I expect that there are tons of optimizations to be done...
  3. Yeah... i have no need for fullscreen... and it runs better anyway without it.. just wonderin if there is a bug.
  4. +1... also noticed at high speed..
  5. Excellent!!!.... glad your back up in the air!!!
  6. you dont need to deactivate... simply uninstall DCS.. and reinstall it..
  7. well,.. i just ran my 4k screen at 1440p with MXAAx4, Nvidia FXAA, and Reshade LumaSharpen... while not quite as sharp as 4k.. it looked damn nice as I minced 3 MIG 29S in the Hornet over Kobuleti with low clouds just after sunrise... God i love this game... and the GPU was hangin around 48-64% load with a few 75% spikes.. so far it was the least jaggies with the least load.. just a little bit soft...
  8. i only wish that i could fly past the treetops with my head back, my HUD scaled to the glass, and the world ripping past me... i know its been talked about too many times, but the standard FOV and sense of speed feels like a Ben Stein lecture... and while zooming out feels more immersive, the perspective warp is unbearable around the cockpit... moving eyepoint back gives an excellent display of the cockpit, but scales the HUD.. its poop i tell ya!!! need the speed!!!!
  9. So i know ive posted this a couple times, but im wondering if full screen mode needs some sort of optimization.. For whatever reason, it uses significantly more CPU than running DCS in Windowed Full Resolution mode.. It would suggest that it may inhibit some of our Digital Aviators performance capabilities.. here are a few screens to illustrate the difference. Fullscreen OFF Menu Fullscreen ON Menu Fullscreen OFF In Game Fullscreen ON In Game I have also noticed that GPU utilization varies slightly between the two but pretty minimally.. At times, the primary CPU core can become fully saturated at 100% when in Fullscreen mode, likely building heat.. Oddly, It also has high usage when in the Main Menu Screen.. seemingly unnecessarily.. anyway,.. any ideas??? just hopin to help make the best of our hardware resources.. Also, the dips in Fullscreen cpu utilization on the graphs are from screen capture in windowed mode... otherwise, it stays quite high at all times.
  10. posted this in another thread.. maybe better here though. i wonder why DCS has so much aliaising issues.... im content at 4k with msaax2... but man it should be way better...with no AA on it just looks like a stretched out low res jaggy festival... wondering if we are trying to optimize performance or trying really hard to polish a turd... i dont want that to be taken offensively... just wondering why at 4k.. without AA.. it looks like i am stretching a 1080p signal across my screen... the pixelation of the jaggies are seemingly massive.. the edges of everything look like they take their rendering queues from "ExciteBike".. why is this so prevalent in DCS and not in other games? game looks killer... as it should... but seems to require beating the piss out of everyones gpu with AA..
  11. it will split the difference.. ex.. better image quality than in game no MXAA better performance than in game MXAA x2

  13. 60 fps solid.. till i fired off some rockets into a city... then it dropped to 54fps for a second.. GPU utilization 75-80% @48c.. with FXAA on in Nvidia Control Panel plus the game settings.. pretty sweet... but could definitely be optimized..
  14. weird... i feel like mine needs go down now... or maybe the Hornet cockpit just has some lighter details..
  15. seems the gamma setting is different after update and Hornet install... any ideas?
  16. no problem friend.. glad you at least got it back to speed with the Overlay for now..
  17. you are explaining perfectly... and they probably should be performing relatively close to eachother... but Open Beta will always likely have more bugs than Release as it is more of the testing platform on which to build the next Release version or test module compatability.. so you may have just tweak around and see what works well with your configuration.. on my setup, they both run almost identically though..
  18. sounds good to me... at 1080p your gpu can apparently handle the task and provide better image quality!!.. happy to hear about a 1050ti getting good results too.
  19. well.. you would not be able to use Nvidia Overlay without Geforce Experience obviously... so your only other option if you choose to not use Geforce experience would be to try the "autoexc.cfg" modification which has also yielded similar performance restoration in some circumstances.. by Washout "Go to C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config Create a text file called autoexec.cfg and add the line options.graphics.maxfps = 120; Set the max FPS to what you want, save and run. If you already have the autoexec.cfg from custom skins just add the line to the file" ...or... Install Geforce Experience.
  20. quick question, what is "optimal fps"... because for me, on a 60hz 4k screen, optimal is 60fps... no more or less than needed... gpu only doing what is necessary..
  21. completely agree... would recommend DDU complete uninstall of current driver, install of best driver(im still on 390.33), and DDU cleanup and removal of "Geforce Experiences".. then disable nvidia telemetry container in services.. leaving you with only what you need... your GPU, your GPU driver, and Nvidia Control Panel..
  22. interesting... did you try the autoexec.cfg modification to set max fps to 120 yet.. seems it helped a few people.. by Washout "Go to C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config Create a text file called autoexec.cfg and add the line options.graphics.maxfps = 120; Set the max FPS to what you want, save and run. If you already have the autoexec.cfg from custom skins just add the line to the file"
  23. see what happens if you turn on nvidia Shadowplay (overlay).. may have some relative effect.. also, if you havent, check this thread.. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203644
