  1. I use the highest PPD setting (~4100 horizontal pixels per screen). Think of PPD setting as the default desktop resolution for your monitor. For in-game resolution, I typically use ~3200 horizontal pixels with override but this is simply about finding the right balance between performance and image quality for your own setup.
  2. Are you using the latest Varjo software? You can also ask to become a beta tester in their discord. The latest beta that just came out has decent motion smoothing with DCS, not perfect though.
  3. Unfortunately, the latest info I have is that the new board is for the new MKII enclosure only...at least for the time being.
  4. It’s only being discussed in the beta channel. There’re also other issues with the beta so it’s a good thing they did not release this.
  5. Glad it’s working well for you. I don’t use OvGME so can’t comment.
  6. The latest beta (3.8) has it which is now called motion smoothing in the settings, but it is broken (causes stuttering and warping artifacts) and is currently being looked into.
  7. The best way to increase vertical FOV is to wear the headset such that the lens sit close to your eyes as much as possible. What I did was switching the original facepad to something really thin. You might be surprised how much vertical FOV you can gain (wear the headset without the facepad to get the idea).
  8. Some tips. 1. Don’t use Varjo Workspace app because imo it’s no good (bad gamma setting, and dynamic foveated rendering causes blurry peripheral vision). It’s better to use SteamVR overlay or 3rd party Virtual desktop apps as those have correct gamma setting and doesn’t cause any peripheral blurriness. 2. Sometime the lens can go off rail during shipment causing visual issues. To fix this, gently push both lens outward with your thumbs then push them back in slightly until you hear a click.
  9. For new upgraders, try under undervolting with PBO2 Tuner for possible further performance gain plus temp reduction.
  10. I only tested the new board which doesn’t affect any actual physical stick displacement. I think the new base may be required if you want extra stick movement, not 100% sure. Personally I’m fine with the current stick’s minimal movement but tough to tell if it would feel better or not if the stick travels a bit more.
  11. I hope you do realize that he is the author of the popular OpenXR toolkit utility. So I would go with what he said.
  12. mbucchia (OXRTK’s author) said dynamic foveation in DCS requires minor code changes by ED, not sure it’ll happen. The Aero’s clarity is indeed something else, with the right settings.
  13. Without MSAA on, I find the shimmering to be distracting especially on maps such as Persian Gulf or Syria. Of course this is subjective and people’s tolerance threshold are different.
  14. GPU FT increases a bit with the 2.8 beta, around 1.5-2ms depending on complexity of your graphic settings or a particular mission. You can either reduce resolution or some graphic settings to regain the performance. Alternatively, adding an rtx 4090 will drop your GPU FT by 5-9ms.
  15. I had used v1.0 basestations for a long while (since the original Vive) and had no tracking issue. The v2.0 allows further distance between the bases.
  16. It looks to be a single panel headset with 3840x2160 total pixels rather than dual screen? Not really excited about fresnel lens either. What would make one choose this over the current popular headsets such as Reverb, Index or Quest 2.
  17. Two things, although the switching process remains the same just drag the modded api.dll file into the DCS bin folder to switch; and do DCS repair to revert back to OpenVR. 1. OpenXR with FFR causes intermittent FT spikes on my setup, so I stop using FFR with it. I’m also using OpenVR more because Reshade makes it look so good. 2. You can use Steam OpenXR now instead of Varjo, but it goes into OpenComposite (Oculus) mode instead of OpenXR.
  18. Free flight missions only. Here's the proof, I tested quite a few scenarios. For complex missions or MP, I typically use 45 fps lock and increase the rendering resolution way up. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/311162-28-update-has-20-fps-loss-on-pimax8kx-and-15-fps-loss-on-varjo-aero-rtx-4090/page/7/ I think you may have to remove SteamVR and OpenXR completely, then reinstall them. Something is seriously wrong if you only get 11 fps. To keep things simple, just stick with getting OpenVR (SteamVR) to work for now. Once that's done then you can try to move on to OpenXR if that's what you want to do, remember it's still a hack and not officially endorsed by ED. There's also OpenComposite mode now, if you run OpenComposite OpenXR via SteamVR instead of the Aero.
  19. I have no idea what the true F16 stick feels like, but it requires more than twice the force to move so I don't think this is possible with this model unless you go with the commercial model FSSB R3 Pro which costs >10x. The board looks mostly the same as the older one, including the expansion port for the Warthog so I think so. This is FSSB R3L MKII not FSSB R4, so it's more like a refinement rather than a completely new product.
  20. It’s definitely not plug and play with DCS compared to other games such as MSFS. But there’s a guide at the very first post to help with this. One base station is needed if you place the station directly in the front or back of the headset, two is recommended for 360 degree tracking. I’ve owned a lot of headsets (check my sig) and so far this is the only headset that gives image quality similar to a monitor—not as crisp as 4KTV but quite close.
  21. Just follow my instructions on the very 1st post of this thread. Don’t use global installation, use the per-app method. You only need 1 file in the same folder as DCS.exe (openvr_api.dll which can be obtained from the attachment in this thread or from their main site)—no need to make it more complicated by using other utilities. If you got 11 fps with OpenVR I don’t think OpenXR will be much better, so the problem lies elsewhere. With latest release of SteamVR, the avg framerate is roughly the same between the two APIs. Foveation option in OpenXR via OXRTK can help lower GPU frametime slightly but that’s pretty much it.
  22. Pitch 4 and Roll 3 is going feeling like flying a paper plane with the MKII Even at roll 4.4 the Viper feels almost like I'm flying an X-wing, too responsive but if you like that kind of thing.
  23. It's all about setting up everything properly to get the kind of framerate you want. I already posted how I got 90fps in simple missions in the other thread. VR HMD in flightsims is basically just a dual monitor with positional tracking and fixed refresh rate.
  24. Use Necksafer utility (link in the very 1st post) for checking six for OXR mode not sure if it works in OVR mode, the latest beta has issues with the Aero but beta2 works really well. One base is needed for sit down VR games. But 2 is much better. Also note that the Aero has no Bluetooth capability so you need to turn on/off the Base station either manually or via Bluetooth sleep mode via special apps from your phone or PC.
