  1. Yep, I get it; the Odyssey ain't perfect, but it's pretty good. For me, I just decided to jump into the game, and accumulate VR experience, and when the true next generation arrives, probably late 2019 or 2020 (not the Vive Pro - that's gonna be the comparable to the Odyssey), I'll know exactly what I want. Beyond image quality, I've got to learn how to fly with a bucket strapped to my face, not being able to see my keyboard. That's not a small thing. I'm a professional photographer, and VERY particular about image quality. With the Odyssey, I sense every pixel, every SDE effect, every part of the small sweet spot, and they ALL bug me...but even with all that, the overall experience is SO worth it. And, BTW, it's noticeably better than the Rift that I've used quite a bit prior to getting the Odyssey. FWIW, having flown X-Plane 11 in a 3 x 1080p screen sim for 2 years, and even with three 1080p screens, the front screen being 55" and only 5 feet from my face, I couldn't always read the gauges on my instrument panel. I ended up using Air Manager on a separate 22" 1080p touchscreen for the six pack and a few other instruments.
  2. Good review. FWIW, I have found my Odyssey to be VERY particular WRT the positioning of the HMD on my face. Finagling around, it can be stunning how much clearer the image gets when you suddenly hit the (admittedly small) sweet spot. I have found the IQ improves with the HMD farther down my face than where I originally placed it.
  3. Are you setting this in Steam VR or in DCS?
  4. Width of K908 I noticed the K908 is 19" wide. My seat is fairly narrow (see image), meaning, I believe, the transducers may actually be located up the side bolster of both the seat and the seat back. Is this sub-optimal? The width of the flat part of the seat is 14" and the width of the flat part of the seat back is 12". Thanks in advance.
  5. So, let me say this in my own words: I go into the CH control panel, figure out what the toe brakes are called, then manually select that from the drop-down menu in the SU-25T configuration screen under "Wheel Brakes"? Since there isn't a "Wheel Brake Left" nor a "Wheel Brake Right" I suppose I'll just use one or the other? How is one new to all this supposed to figure this out on his or her own, I wonder? Thanks.
  6. I figured out the TF-51, but now I can’t get the CH Pro Pedals’ toe brakes to bind to the SU-25T wheel brakes. Nothing I do gets these to register the same way they did with the TF-51. I can see the “Wheel Brakes” category, I select in the proper part of the window (like above, and like I’ve done with the TF-51, run the toe brakes through their complete range. Of motion, and nothing happens. 4 years simming with X-Plane, and I’ve never had the kinds of challenges getting controllers linked to commands like I have with DCS.
  7. Looking bad ass, is undeniably important...but not sure I'm willing to wait until the end of the year. I mean, after all, I fly in VR, and the only person seeing my sim cockpit is me...
  8. Thanks. So that's a 4,900 Rub adder to the regular price? Sounds reasonable. My cockpit seat is a regular racing seat (Obutto Ozone), so I'm not sure there'd be any advantage to the Sim version, other than the added padding and cover, and easier access to the transducers, correct?
  9. Well, thanks (I think) for doing all that cutting and pasting. I guess I hadn't made the connection between my question "Sim edition?" and his reply "Those will be available later in this year." I was asking what a "sim edition" is, not when it will be available, and it wasn't clear (at least to my feable mind) that Andre was replying to me or to another earlier post.
  10. So, Andre, are you planning on offering any more sim seats?
  11. Hannibal, sorry for an obvious question, but you're using the latest version of Windows 10? Not to diminish what you're experiencing, cuz that's gotta be frustrating, but once I updated to the Fall Creators Update (and beyond), installing my Odyssey couldn't have been easier, or more plug-and-play.
  12. Ah, OK. I just presumed that was a custom build, not a standard product.
  13. Thanks. "sim edition"?
  14. If you go to the Gametrix JetSeat page, you'll see they're sold out, and the unit is discontinued. I believe this is the new model, but I've asked a number of times for more information, and not received a reply: https://forcefeel.tech/
  15. So, with the old JetSeat being phased out, and the new product in development, if we want to get something in the next couple months, is there anything we can purchase?
  16. Yeah....but....anyone with even the smallest amount of future vision can see what this is GONNA be, say 10 years down the road. Sure, it's not there yet, but to say he didn't think it "would ever catch on" reminds me of the interview of the US Postmaster General I heard in the late 80's - when asked if he thought email would impact the number of letters people would send, replied "Emails are a fad. They'll never catch on. People will always send letters".
  17. Interesting video, but the guy said, in the middle, "I'm totally against VR, and don't think it will ever catch on, but this changed my mind".....how can ANYBODY say that, in today's world :)
  18. I run it at 1.2 in Steam VR and 1.2 within DCS.
  19. This is also an excellent intro to playing Rift and Vive titles on a WMR HMD:
  20. BTW, in my experience, the Odyssey absolutely has the same "sweet spot" challenges seen in other Fresnel lens HMD's. A minor adjustment up/down/fore/aft can make a huge difference in image quality...as can getting your IPD set correctly.
  21. I was "fortunate" that my PC didn't come standard with WiFi/BlueTooth capability, so I had them add a PCI WiFi/BT card with an external antenna that sits on top of my cabinet. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/PCE-AC55BT-B1-Wireless-AC1200-Bluetooth-adapter/dp/B0713RRZMB/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1520277205&sr=8-3&keywords=pci+wifi+bluetooth+card I've also heard of success using USB BlueTooth dongles.
  22. Tom, here are my thoughts on the Odyssey Vs other WMR HMD's: The Odyssey has a mechanical IPD adjustment slider on the headset. The others adjust in software only; The Odyssey has the best resolution available currently; The Odyssey allows for an IPD adjustment >67mm. The other WMR HMD's are limited to IPD<67mm only (my personal IPD is 69, so this is important); The Samsung has integral headphones; The Samsung has DUAL microphones (VS a single); The Odyssey has an on-device volume adjustment control. VERY convenient; The Odyssey uses Active-matrix OLED displays. Better colors and contrast. I was on the fence until Samsung reduced the price of the Odyssey to $399.99. That did it for me, and I haven't looked back since.
  23. Don, thanks. I think I've figured it out, with the help of you guys. The VR Zoom is now assigned to a press-and-hold button (I like the way it springs back to normal when released) and the VR Center is assigned to a button right next to the VR Zoom. So far, so good. I also figured out my assignment of the POV switch was moot in VR, as all I had to do was turn my head. I wonder, can you increase the level of zoom beyond the default in VR Zoom?
