Well... they should. Why even fly DCS if they want easy arcade?
-
I pitch up to +35 degrees, and pull idle thrust, and just let it stall. It's quite effective. As the nose comes through the horizon I hold aft stick, and the nose rate is too low for the aircraft to recover "naturally", AoA increases, and she's deep-stalled. This, at about 35000 ft. "Attacking" the flight controls is also another fun move. Get the aircraft slow in level flight, start a pull-up as the speed bleeds off, then add full left or right aileron, and hold it there while adding full aft stick. She'll start to barrel-roll followed by spin development as the rudder can no longer control the yaw rate, and there is insufficient pitch authority to get the nose up.

I didn't really notice a difference, unless something has changed in one of the last two updates.

There is a thread in the F-16 forum about exactly this. I just told them..."welcome to the club". I don't understand why it's even tolerated for these things to be less than realistic. If people want arcade mode, go find something else to fly. Surely it is more satisfying to fly a realistically modelled aircraft, firing realistically modelled weapons, surviving, and going home? I've stopped even trying to understand these people.

I'm not poor, and i'm not mc Scrooge, but ...

Buy it! $80 (or whatever on discount) over 1 year isn't even a cup of coffee per month. -
Join the club! The SD-10 has been reduced to an expensive firework because people claimed it was "too good". The AI are experts at notching our missiles. Get an ACMI and watch very carefully. The entire missile model of DCS is broken. I recently learned that if you fly slowly the missile will ignore you because it thinks you're a helicopter (yes, really) and will pull a max g turn AWAY from you to avoid you. Go try it. Be sure to be slower than Mach 0.50 while evading. Such insanity.

I shoot more to get people defensive on the missile then I can push on for a kill. I treat missiles more as fly repellant than a serious weapon, at least in DCS. DTT works well. If the SD-10A has become *that* useless now then what's the point? :( Anecdotal evidence is the real SD-10A is pretty damn lethal. It is even used as a modern SAM with reported PK of 80%+ at 40 km. I posted tons of info on this recently in another thread.

An update or two ago I thought the RWR was massively inaccurate regarding position/range of a missile. Has this been corrected? I was geting missile alerts with symbology nowhere near my real position. The aircraft was physically not where the map showed it to be, too (PG).

This. Basically, our pod is more accurate/has accurate limitations.

I see this. Trim should be unaffected by roll angle unless they actually model the effect of gravity on the stores, in which case I still think it is exaggerated.

I must say that I don't understand the "form over function".

I don't really find the gun placement an issue. Just remember to get the target lower in the HUD than you otherwise might. You need to lead more than you think you should. If it feels like an overshoot position, you're about on target. I have had good success against F-5's with it, as well as other AI Jeffs.

Flight model congratulations for the JF-17

WUT? DTT and 4x SD-10 = HELL ON EARTH, especially if the opposing MP pilot thinks the Jeff isn't a threat. You can engage two targets at once, and I do...often.

You're probably landing too fast (and by that, I mean 2-3 kts too fast). I find popping speed brake really helps, especially as she gets lighter. I aim to cross the numbers with the TVV disappearing behind the HUD camera at the bottom of the HUD, then gentle flare, then aerobrake. I've got to the point I don't need the chute.

Either Maverick is totally insane (callsign checks out), or he knows something we don't. -
+1 for some roadmap.

What altitude were you at? Jeff is very good at high altitude. I'm impressed. A/G-1 for altitude, then when you get low can you drop it into A/A for BFM. A/G-1 acts as a nice high-altitude alpha limiter so you don't just dump all your speed (easy to do at altitude in the Jeff). I am also going to say it...git gud. The AI are stupidly over-powered. Now we are unable to edit the SFM files to prevent them having quasi-rocket motors (seriously...WTF) I've lost interest in BFM with AI. There is hard, and then there is outrageously unrealistic. I can't but help compare the JF-17 to the F-16 (similar wing, and I'm a long-time "other sim" pilot). She feels good around 350 kts. Don't get below 300 kts unless you want a bad time. She recovers well if you unload. I'm fairly sure she'll hold her own against an F-16 with a competent pilot.

I can't think of any time a missile would pull a 180 degree turn after losing lock. The target must be within gimbal limits of the nose of the missile, and the missile is already tracking an intercept course, so all that will happen at the moment of loss of lock will be the missile will make a course correction to the last computed intercept point, then fly straight. There is no reason whatsoever that a missile will even turn 90 degrees, unless it is extremely close to begin with and the angles computation would result in a "coast intercept" of 90 degrees, but I doubt even that could happen in reality.

I thought EMER GEAR was gravity drop?
