*edited* disregard all i said before, there is something strange afoot! Whats up with these Whales?

I surely hope this gets picked up in the “in work” list, because with all the other updates the Harrier is my go to aircraft, I’m just tired of dying so easily Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RWR audio? Just bumping this and updating; I had a chance to try things out and RWR audio is still not working. Also, oddly, the RWR display seems to work whether the knob is turned on or not, dunno if that is intentional or not Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is anything further going to be done with this module?

Man if this could be added to all of the old school aircraft it would be amazing...at least the Huey, L39, TF-51d, and I can only dream of it working out for the F5e Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yup, while working things out in the harrier is challenging, if you set the autopilot (maybe even set up an orbit? I haven't tried this yet as I mostly just use the ARBS tbh) and then focus on target designation on the screen. Once you have everything dialed in take over, do your run, then return to orbit. Really though, what is best is if you either have someone buddy lase for you or have jtac lasing, because then you can just focus on acquiring the target, dropping your GBUs, then focusing on the next target. If you run a mission with multiple harriers in your flight you can even take turns designating targets. This is all super easy with JTAC though and is actually highly realistic, its not unreasonable to assume there is some sort of JTAC support on the ground during CAS operations

I haven’t tested this thoroughly in the latest version, but I believe it occurred this past weekend still. Will this ever be addressed? Hoping there is something we can do to help this process along... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How far to "Feature Complete?" IMHO the Harrier is already very useable. In terms of features/updates here is what is missing that I consider critical to flying a decent mission in it: -INS simulation -Weapons updates (including JDAMS, maybe APKWS if they can make them, AGM65E, and advanced weapons deployment settings) -The ability to input waypoints in the aircraft -misc bug fixes and feature corrections That’s seriously it. You could chalk up sounds, but there is already a fantastic sound mod that fixes some of the placeholder sounds. Everything else the aircraft needs is more study simulation stuff that will make it more interesting, but not needed to enjoy flying it. *edit* don’t let the naysayers convince you, the mirage has hardly anything left to work on, there are just lots of people that want to bring razbam down for some reason when they are bringing amazing modules, easily one of the top tier devs alongside BST, Heatblur, Leatherneck before everyone decided they hate them all of a sudden, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has the sound changed aside from the volume? I believe up to this point it has just been a placeholder sound Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still no news on this, wonder if anyone else is having this problem and has managed to fix it? If so please chime in with what had to be fixed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seconding this, Zeus please help us help you. I can provide log files, videos, whatever. In fact, I’ll set up a test tonight and make a video showcasing the problems. This is a major problem for a good portion of us and while it’s not on the scale of the IRMAV issue that was a hot topic here, this issue needs attention Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sit down, grab a beer, and enjoy getting launched on by SAMs you never noticed on RWR thanks to broken sounds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Zeus, do you have any updates at all on this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
RWR audio? Any mods? Stock DCS? Did you have to do anything in order for the tones to work? Or does it have something to do with the new update? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Look on the right front side of the canopy, and look for the “lock lever” You have to click that before you can open the canopy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RWR audio? This is a pretty high priority thing for me...it’s really hurting my situational awareness to not have the tones sound off correctly. Hopefully we hear something about this problem soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This makes sense and is totally fair. In fact, FWIW there was an AMA with a Harrier pilot recently and he flat or said “The harrier is not used for SEAD” The SIDEARM is a neat weapon, but I feel like it can be treated literally as such: a self defense weapon against unexpected SAM threats. This is evident by the fact that it’s not extremely effective in eliminating SAM threats entirely. Now, I’m REALLY interested in getting even better CAS capability. Things like GBU-38s, maybe APKWS is we are lucky (ZEUS PLEASE) and those laser mavs...this thing will be a very nice CAS platform as the development matured. There are much better SEAD capable platforms out there (like the F/A 18c, for example...) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, to be fair that was where I got my source. It’s funny, because other sites have cited Wikipedia as a source on that one. I found one comment that was basically “it was rated to carry them but never did” or something like that. Either way, I think the best way to treat the harriers SEAD capability is as a self defense tool when attacking SAM defended regions, rather than an actual capability to do SEAD. Especially since the 122s are so hit or miss, literally Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, I do know that the Harrier II + afaik did indeed carry the bigger anti-radiation missles (HARMs and such) but i am not sure if the harrier ever harried harpoons in any configuration. Another thing you said there is "Multi-Role attack fighter". Just wanted to throw in that while the harrier is certainly more capable at air-air than many other attack aircraft, it is still very much outclassed by most fighters and I would not really consider "fighter" in its "multi-role" status. It is true that it is a multi-role though, I will agree.

I’ll second this on both fronts; I flew with my virtual squadron last night as well and tried setting different ears for different radios for the first time. I occasionally got some strange static from people transmitting, and occasionally the volume would spike to extreme levels (including DCS volume as well for some reason. I’m not sure if this is related at all to voicemeeter, or if it is due to the fact I had the speaker boost cranked all the way up but it was very jarring and painful to say the least

“Multipurpose Color Display” So yep, it’s got colors, I can only assume. Sample pictures of the map show it in full color as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What does the new Changelog and update post mean?
phantomknight321 replied to imacken's topic in DCS 2.9
My only concern/question I am hoping ED elaborates on is how much longer the module sale has now. I am so close to pulling the trigger on the a10c, and if the price goes back up that goes out of the window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Actually, I do get this behavior sometimes. Other times it just flat out doesn’t work. Surely something somewhere is bugged, would be nice if someone could mod around it for now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
I’m also having this bug...is there some sort of fix that absolutely works? It’s quite annoying to not actually hear the RWR sounds playing, and really hurts my situational awareness when I’m more focused on weapons deployment and navigation. This also makes it VERY difficult to perform SEAD since you never know who is locking or launching on you unless your paying close attention to your RWR screen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I actually finally saw this happen; I was practicing carrier landings and at one point looked behind me and saw the huge cloud of dust. Very strange bug to be sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello, I just finished doing a bit of carrier takeoff and landing practice, then some A2A refuel practice and after failing that decided to RTB. Once landed, I had about 100 lbs of fuel or so, so I held the brakes and throttled up a bit to burn off the remainder. However, once the fuel ran out the engines were very very slow to wind down, and the brakes were suddenly unable to hold the aircraft still and I went careening off into the grass uncontrollably. So I have 2 concerns here: 1. Why would the engines spool down from thrust so much slower when shutting down vs when you pull the throttle back? I understand they would spool down slow from the idle rpm, but I’m a bit confused here 2. Should the brakes lose all authority immediately when the engines begin to shut down? Or perhaps this was some other strange behavior. I recognize that neither of these concerns may be a bug, but figured I would throw them out here just in case. Thanks for the hard work with everything, still loving the aircraft! (Seriously if it’s this good already I’m really considering the M2000 now) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
