  1. Sorry to ask but does that Network file autocorrect itself somehow? I've tried literally ten times to alter line 110 as you suggest using several different lua editors. When I save a open, the alteration (adding "--" to line 110 to make it a comment) then the edit it there. After I run DCS it is back as was. I've even deleted the line completely and it returns. So I'm thinking that the line in the network.lua file is getting written each time DCS runs and I need to edit a source file. Any thoughts as to where that source file is? Thanks again.
  2. This is today's log. Again, no joy from SSA with the jetseat directly plugged into the PC (no hub). Thanks again. dcs.log
  3. Thanks. I tried that too and no joy in DCS. I also tried turning off virus scans and still not working. Any other thoughts? I've gotten IL2 working with Simshaker Wings so I know that the seat can do it.
  4. Thanks F410. I copied and pasted into a new export folder (and renamed and saved the old one as a backup) but still no joy. I checked in the Scripts/Hooks folder and noticed that both SRS and Tacview have a hooks lua file but SSA does not. Could that be the issue? My flight log snip s attached Any other ideas? This is killing me so thanks for your help.
  5. This is the only other export.lua that comes up with a search. It's in my saved games/dcsopenbeta/scripts folder but does contain mention of simshaker. Any good? If not can you be more specific about the directory I should be searching? Thanks again for your help. Contents read: pcall(function() local dcsSr=require('lfs');dofile(dcsSr.writedir()..[[Mods\Services\DCS-SRS\Scripts\DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.lua]]); end, nil); local SimShakerlfs=require('lfs'); dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/SimShaker.lua') dofile(lfs.writedir()..[[Scripts\SimShaker-export-core\ExportCore.lua]]) Export.lua
  6. These are the two export files I found in scripts/simshaker-export-core. Are these the ones you meant? Thanks for your advice. ExportCore.lua ExportDevice.lua
  7. I've just bought a Jetseat, installed the Gametrix and SSA software but now get no joy - the seat is working but it doesn't fire up for DCS. Any helpful thoughts? Thanks for your help The jetseat tests just fine using the test buttons in both Gametrix and SSA – vibrates as it should In SSA it is set to DCS and does show the three generic modes -jet, piston and heli – but no others even after I have flown each in DCS (AV8, F18, P47 and F5 so far) Gametrix is in USB mode Seat is plugged in and registers in the DCS control settings as a device along with my joy, throttle and pedals Seat power is on and turned up high I’ve scoured the manual for both the seat and SSA and then checked this forum page for clues but nothing is apparent Andre suggests that SSA is not receiving the telemetry data from DCS Snip of the debug log is attached but doesn't seem to suggest any obvious failures I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled SSA 3 times now. Using the stable version of SSA and open beta of DCS. But I did try open beta of SSA too at one point – still no joy
  8. Dreadful. Dreadful dreadful. I'm not talking about the mission structure - I never got that far. I'm talking about the massively cheesy over-macho voiceovers and the infuriating cod-dramatic music. Seriously destroyed any immersion and ruined the experience such that I rage quit after a while. If you like Ace Combat you'll love the ambience but serious simmers should stay away. And in general - why are we now getting this tripe in DCS? It's not exactly on demographic, is it? But at least the blurb for Rising Squall gives you a hint at the infantile nature of the endeavour.
  9. I've got a full hanger of Standalone modules. I now want to be able to have friends over to play on my second PC specifically as an F-14 RIO. So I bought a second F14 licence (and PG, F-16, F18 and Supercarrier) on Steam. Problem is that Steam seems to have set me up for the same DCS account so even thoough I own double modules I can't go in (one PC on Standalone and one on Steam) at the same time. How do I get Steam to change my DCS account to a second separate one so I can have both my accounts running at once?
  10. When you successfully manage to hook up by clicking U can you see the catapult shuttle in the groove. The problem I have is that there is no shuttle to hook up to. Does it magically appear or is it still invisible but working?
  11. I have two issues: Cats have no shuttles to hook up to NWS is inoperative
  12. Your dedication is appreciated, Baltic Dragon
  13. Hi sze5003, Wizard03 and Baltic Dragon. Thanks for your responses and I apologise up front if I was a little terse with my first post - it was a frustrating evening. Whilst I greatly appreciate the level of detail that has gone into the Harrier missions it is worth considering the objective of a DCS training mission vs actually training in a Harrier. Most people get a new module and load the training to get them through the first few hours of flight and show them the basics. And I think we agree here what we have is a "How to do things properly" series for pilots who are already pretty familiar with the Harrier. I look forward to revisiting them in a short while and I'm sure I will enjoy them then and learn a lot when I do. Wizard03 I disagree that the Harrier is more complex or requires more practice than other modules. It's not a simple one and I am enjoying the challenge but I fly most of the others too. I'm now getting on just fine with the Harrier using Chuck,YouTube and the mission editor. Rather than rewrite and dumb down what are actually excellent training resources perhaps the solution would be to insert a pre-training chapter. A couple of quickie training sequences to start the plane, take off, hover and land and then one for nagivation would quickly get people to the fun stage where they could take in more. Then they can indulge and get the most out of the more in-depth training modules. At the end of the day I'm like most DCS fans: I've spent thousands on my hobby but I still have a day job and I just fly a simulator for an hour or so each evening for fun. Your attention to detail is critical to maintaining the authenticity of the experience for everyone. But keeping the door open for us part timers is also much appreciated.
  14. Does anyone have any alternative training missions for the Harrier? The ones supplied with the module are ridiculous. Far too detailed at too early a stage and boring and long-winded because of it (so you're never going to want to repeat them) but at the same time they are often flawed and reference subjects not yet covered. So for the conventional landing mission almost the very first thing that happens is you are read out a long and boring list of crosswind tolerances (before you've even done your first landing - which has no wind set for it). As you try to commit those to memory for no reason at all you are then told that the airfield is in front of you - whereas the plane is actually headig out to sea and by quite a distance since the preamble to this point has been so pointlessly long. Then you're told the airfield is at waypoint 1 - but since waypoints have not been covered in the tutorials you need to drop out and go to Chucks guide. Razbam have evidently tried to be geekily extensive but have stupidly missed the basics of what training is about and made it a boring and frustrating experience. So has anyone yet invented their way around this with their own suite of training missions? Or I might just go fly something else.
  15. Thanks, Reflected. The Restart button was just not working. HOwever, after a couple of DCS restarts it did get going again so I guess it was a DCS quirk and not to do with the campaign. I played the first mission last night. It's beginning extremely well and is certainly capturing what I imagine to be the flavour of Korea in the 1950s. I have very high hopes.
  16. The "restart" button for the campaign start page is not working. I literally played about 2 minutes (ie. the first breifing in the cockpit - I never even began the start sequence) before I had to quit out for Christmas duties. When I came back it had failed me in the campaign (which seems odd) and won't restart it. Is this a common bug and how do I get to restart the campaign? I hope I won't have to replay all the missions again when I have to quit out of a session half way through.
  17. Is there a definitive approach to resolving what appears to be the very common issue of VA/VP not recognizing DCS or sending ny of the original VP commands to it? By not recognizing I mean that no aircraft shows up in the PTT page on the VP console. And the problem is that, although it can recognize voice commands in the debug list on VA it only actions the very few custom ones I have added myself (like to bring up the kneepad). I've read the other threads from people and have checked my custom path to DCS but no joy. I'm not running any mods other than a few custom skins and cockpits. I have to say that I am not a VP fan. I've had it a couple of years and it has hardly ever done what it should do despite hours of training and RTFM from front to back several times. I'm hoarse from training it to stop recognizing "Kolkhi" as donkey, car key, kohlrbi and fifty other unfeasible words other than the one in the bloody file.
  18. Thanks LastRifleRound - I just saw this. Interesting and I'll give it a go.
  19. Thanks TOViper and everyone for your help. It made me go back through my landing procedure and I think I've solved it. The issue with the "fighting the autopilot" on the approach was all in my head. I was following the steering cues to LB and LF too literally so when they jumped or switched as they do during the circuit I was actually getting a bizarre kind of pilot induced oscillation. I needed to back off and realize that it is me flying the plane and the HUD is giving clues, not instructions. The swerving on the runway is the thrust reverser. I was treating it like the parachute on the Mirage: Pull the lever and jack it to the max whatever. But it's not like forward thrust - nice and linear - it pulls you all over if you run it too high. Finally the autothrottle needs a bit of watching too. It does a great job but it brings you to the threshold in a very gentle fashion without any additional speed for corrections. So you need to ensure that you are well lined up good and early since, if you need to do a last minute yaw or roll to get straight, you'll be out of energy with no throttle response and you'll drop like a stone. So get fully lined up when you still have enough height. That's just good flying anyway. So now I seem to be able to do a decent TILS approach and landing using all the fancy systems. On to the next frustration - whatever that will turn out to be.:pilotfly:
  20. Devrim. I just loaded up v1.4. Flippin' excellent. Really nice and clear and a great improvement over 1.3. Many thanks - you're a genius.
  21. Did you get the veering off the runway thing sussed, LeCuvier? The first few times I landed the Viggen it was sweet and controllable. Now it inevitably veers and flips even when I land straight at 200kmph and use the thrust reverser. I've not got an assymetric load out so I can't figure out why it pulls over so immediately.
  22. All good points, Last Rifle and Mike, but I wasn't using AFK at the time. I've started doing so and it helps greatly. Overalll it's a magnificent plane. I've had it for a year and done nothing with it and am just discovering it.
  23. I'll try to get some video. Practice seems to be reducing it but I can't work out what I'm doing less of. I noted that, in phase 3 of the approach, in descent, I switched off the Alt autopilot and got a massive and immediate swerve down and to the side. I think I'll nix the alt autopilot far earlier.
  24. Great feedback Harlikwin, Vega and Seconda. Very useful. I've had plenty of feedback on the Reverb in the last couple of months and most of it from people who, upon closer quizzing, don't yet have one. The VR community seems to get very polarized into defending the headset they own. So your own opinions and hands-on observations are valuable. I'm thinking that I'll hang on for a few months to see if HP can sort their quality issues and then plump for the Reverb along with a PC upgrade to handle it properly. But overall it does sound worth it for DCS.
  25. I'm having big problems landing using TILS. I can land the Viggen in NAV mode by eye just fine - in fact it's one of the easier DCS planes to land. But the moment I go into TILS and LANDNING mode it's fighting me in pitch, roll and yaw. What's up? Is the plane trying to land itself and I'm just getting in the way? I've got the SPAK level of damping autopilot on but none of the other levels. Is there a mode where I can just have the glidepath guides up for low vis but fly the plane myself? I'm thoroughly confused and the manual isn't helping.
