I only fly in VR so don’t know if this is a thing for those who don’t. However I found the small numbers next to the contact to determine their altitude on data link rather difficult to see and especially if there is a number of contacts in a small area I can’t read the identification number to determine who they are in the list below. Does anyone have some kind of work around for this?

Also to add how will you priorities 3rd party weapons against ED’s. For example the Aim-120 has all the Attention ED has to give. Yet Deka can’t even get the API they need from ED for the dual ignition sequence for the SD-10. Is there even a indication to which year we can see that coming? It is a gigantic feature of the missile. This also include the Brm-1 90’s and the anti runway bombs. All need ED to make their part for them to work correctly. So I agree ED has too much to deal with the 3rd party weapons will just end up forever in the bin

My understanding is ED say they didn’t make the change to the battery life, and Deka does not agree with the decrease in battery life. So that leaves some open ended belief. So maybe ED didn’t change the coding themselves but did they possible say to Deka you’ll be decreasing the SD-10 battery life to 80s. Obviously I would have no idea But no matter who coded it all we seem to know is Deka doesn’t agree with the new time so how many other party can make this decision? That kinda narrows it down for me with what I can gather.

But do you keep flying straight or something cause it’s beam riding?
-
This may sound sarcastic but it’s not I’m actually curious as to what you mean by treat it like beam riding?
-
Well if you go to this forum which is really going off at the moment you will see a lot of evidence from real military analysts and data saying NO the SD-10 is not meant to be like the Aim-120C but it does in fact have better range. Be warned tho you’ll be offended cause there is more comments from others suggesting the F-18 should mind their own business just like this forum being a JF-17 forum so maybe you should live in the F-18 forums. You won’t be offended as much.

Hmm this is confusing cause even on this very thread we are being told ED are the ones who changed the battery life. And on other forums Deka are saying they still believe it is meant to be the original time of 100s not the 80s from the new update
-
This doesn’t explain the biggest change being the battery life. Why was that decrease by so much, there are conflicting comments saying Deka stand by the original battery life. Cause this decision isn’t made by CFD it was changed cause of someone’s opinion or there is updated FACTS saying it was incorrect from the start
-
Well if you put it like that it kinda makes sense
-
Mind my ignorance, what is NDA
-
Please forgive me but I can’t find anywhere what DTOS actually is. Except a few different opinions. Can some please explain what this feature is? Thanks heaps

I 100% agree with you here. All missiles need to come from the same testing. But you think ED would do CFD on the SD-10 if they Thought it should be better? Doubt it My argument is CFD doesn’t test how long the missiles battery would last or how good it is resistant to chaff. But it keeps getting worse and worse cause A bunch of kids can’t Handle not winning every time in their F-18’s

I’m starting to agree with a few people here. I read a lot of forums and there has been a few things that to me sound like ED protecting their product. Just cause the SD-10 doesn’t feel right mean absolutely nothing. You have ZERO idea what a SD-10 feels like. But ever sense the JF-17 got released the F-18 F-16 community has been crying about the JF and every patch the JF get weaker. Once the crying children get what they want they cry over something else and then next patch the JF again gets weaker. Sorry but I’m starting to get the feeling ED are protecting their products and as the sole owners of DCS they get to influence 3rd parties on their products. When it comes to Chaff this missile is one of the worst for being chaff hungry. There is several real life meeting and reporters coming from the CIA, chief of Air Force and head of navy all stating Chinese missile are becoming very advanced and even the most advanced in areas. So why should the train of thought be the SD-10 has to be stupid compared to the almost chaff resistant Aim-120. If anything the as-10 should be just as good as the aim-120. And there is no eveidance that supports it other wise expect for people’s opinion that it’s not American.
-
I thinking out load here so please correct me if I’m wrong. But due to the SD-10 flying at high speeds the battery life shouldn’t be as of a impact as the Aim-120? Cause it’s getting to the contact faster?
-
How much has it been downgraded by?
-
I think this is a fair point

It’s a Hoyas button. Go to your adjust controls and find something saying uncage, I don’t remember the exact binding. But when you press it the small circle on your heads up display when you have the PL-5 selected will start to move around, if you have a radar lock the circle will move to the radar lock and it allows you to fire the missile at better angles. I find it tracks better too.

If you press the the UFC 7 (FUL) it will give you a diagram breaking down how much fuel is in every fuel tank. But on the left screen in the bottom quarter there are 2 bars on the right side of the screen. The Bar on the left is a graphical representation of how much fuel you have as the bar drops down. When you carry fuel tanks the bar will represent what in the external tanks first then when the tanks hav depleted reaching about half way down the bar, the bar will look full again but now showing what you have in you internal tanks. The numbers on top of the bar are how much total fuel you have.

This doesn’t answer your question and you maybe aware of what I’m about to say but there is a lot confusion around the DL pod. The Data link pod is only used with the Man in the Loop (AKG). It’s not for the data link between aircraft, that system is built into the aircraft. So for air to air mode you wouldn’t carry a data link pod. Well unless your returning home after firing the AKG

If you head over to the F-18 forums ED are right now running a vote that involves them speeding up the process of implementing the SLAM-ER. So this missile is coming no matter what maybe earlier then later. So they are clearly not concerned about a missile like the one we are talking about here being balanced or not

I didn’t realise you had to press HNS for it to work. I thought if it said INS+GPS it was active. Thanks for the tip

I did some trial runs using the runway bombs. I found 500ft is too low for the rockets to do their job. I did a few runs at 1000ft, 1500ft, 2000ft and 2500ft. All in auto mode using the targeting pod to mark the first release mode for all 4 bombs to drop 700ft apart. I found the 2000ft drop let the chit open and slow the bomb to a vertical angle and then the rockets boosted all the way extinguishing the motor just before impact. 500ft the rocket hardly kicks in before impact
