  1. I don't think ED know's exactly, tis the nature of a cluster roping of goats
  2. It says on Wags' profile that he lives in Arizona, so it's almost 7 am there
  3. And a two seat version at that, now where did I stick that double face palm meme....
  4. Same here on running OpenBeta only.
  5. Hey man, you said you saw post....
  6. I would remove any number of body parts to have "just" that 1.4 mb/s. I'm on DSL that just got upgraded to 500 kb/s(from 300), although it's usually more like 350-400. I just pray for the day when I can talk about my DL speed in MB's instead of KB's
  7. Have links to posts with this info?
  8. Great example of how just one word being changed can go unnoticed or seem so small, but I'm sure it was noticed and appreciated by most if not all those fans it no longer excluded.
  9. Really, we're talking about pilots and their support personnel, plenty of other threads that discuss the topic of pilots and support personnel for various reasons. And it's actually about the in game pilots and personnel, not the real world too.
  10. After a careful reread of the op and those post that object to the wording or tone I'd like to make one more point. Raven's post was not only reasonable and well worded but included several links to provide context, so far her's is one of the more professional postings outside of ED staff if seen in the forums so far. She makes no demands, she made request by using words "ask" "asking" and "Please". And to top it all off she starts the title of her thread with the words "A plea". Only those with out honor would show "indifference" to a plea and then attempt to shame the one making the plea.
  11. I'd like to add some context to the discussion and set a few things straight. I was privy to part of the original snafu that started in one of the Hornet threads. Now I can't remember if I was the first to respond to Raven's(the OP) comment in that thread but I'm pretty sure it was my post that really got her ticked off. You see, I didn't bother to read the opening post very thoroughly and didn't realize that it's introduction was male specific. So my initial thought was that she had just randomly brought up the topic of gender. Also, It was I who then suggested that since Raven had raised valid points that the post in the thread concerning the topic be moved to a suitable thread and forums section where the conversation would no longer be derailing the thread, which we were doing rather severely (thanks BIGNEWY, sorry for the headache(s) ). The post by Weta that Raven is referring was in response to my request, and while I do not remember his specific wording, I remember it as being more disrespectful and indifferent. So if you "boys" want to keep the hat rolling, sling some mud my way, will ya? @Nineline the first( i think) link in the op is to an article about David Letterman, I think you'll find it a be quit revealing and informative(specifically as it applies to public relations). And, from real world experience LE and, believe it or not, fishing and hunting; the men(boys?) who cry the loudest about including females are usually the ones that are jealous that they're being outperformed by a female (it's a sliding scale, that's just the bottom). P.s. Adding females voices and pilots (you can definitely tell their female even with the mask on, though i would focus on the helo crews first) would add to the realism. Also could wags do some of these, his is the only in game voice I don't mind hearing all the time ;)
  12. That's not how that sort of thing works Tomcat84, and my point was that I figured it would have been taught to them during flight school, by a flight surgeon. A shot or two once in awhile still does damage, just the nature of that particular chemical(drug).
  13. My google-fu is apparently strong today, found an article mentioning the study during Veitnam https://careylohrenz.com/be-fearless-what-night-carrier-landings-can-teach-us-about-high-performance/ Pretty good read too, also found a couple of articles where pilots mention the exact same thing during the first Gulf war. After watching some actual hud footage of night carrier landings it kind of makes me wonder if we're going to have it a little to easy.
  14. Unless I'm miss remembering the Navy actually did a study on night carrier landings during the Vietnam war and found them to be more stressful than flying the actual combat mission and coming under attack. Most stressful 60 seconds currently known to the human race?
  15. Panthers comment about blasting the tunes was rather intriguing to me, so I checked out "Dos Gringos". A quote from one of the F-16 pilots and band member "Being a fighter pilot is a privilege and an honor. It is fun and it is stressful. And the difference between a bunch of guys who fly fighters and a group of shit hot fighter pilots flying in the world's best fighter squadron is camaraderie. And I can't think of any better way to build camaraderie than by singin' songs, drinkin' booze, and telling stories at the bar on Fridays." — Chris KurekWhen When my brother was active in the Marines he would tell me about the massive amounts of Sailor Jerry downed on a regular basis, which didn't surprise me terrible, the Jarheads, what do expect. But I would think hot shot fighter pilots would by default have the grey matter and schooling to fully understand the physical and cognitive ramifications of regular alcohol consumption. As my wife is found of telling patients when the topic arises, "a hang over is your body's way of trying to tell you "hey knock it off".
  16. Thanks for the reply Lucas, I'm actually intimately familiar with the entire process from start to finish for nearly all US based contractors, I was just wondering if there was a "legitimate" reason for the existence of the sales and marketing teams. They after all represent sizable expenditures by the companies that are paid for by the US tax payer. I don't see the actual, logical, legitimate reason for that expenditure when the engineers already have reams of actual data. Seems to me that the people in the various armed services that are responsible for the use of the products and the engineers that designed and built them could have a far more detailed "peer to peer" discussion. I would hate to think that some sales rep with a BA in marketing wouldn't be the go to for all the correct facts, especially if their goal is to overshadow an negatives of the product. Also, has any body heard a CEO of a defense contractor that had any engineering skills. As a point of reference for the efficiency of I'm talking about achieving see Gwynne Shotwell, she may not be CEO but as COO she is the next most public face behind the business of SpaceX.
  17. Just curious if anyone has ever come across a legit for defense contractors to a have a sale's and marketing department as I've never heard of any country ever purchasing military hardware with out going through some sort of evaluation and testing program. Any actual insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
