  1. Lol Flagrum was faster  FinnJ
  2. The "Green lights" should have been white mechanical devices, and I don´t think they would look green even with panel light. They are most probably painted with the same white as the "bar graph" on the ammo counter. Instead they could have been fluorocent green, but that would still look alot more pale as they are now, and certainly not in full daylight. The Counters used are obviously SZ500 as You can see on the scales i.e the SZ100 has 11 large marks (0-100) and then a smaller submark between. The SZ500 has 6 large marks (0-500) and no smaller submarks. The SZ1000 has 11 large marks, but no smaller submarks. Instead it has an even thicker mark at 50% (500).
  3. I have send a support ticket. Though they seem not to want tickets on betas, I think that the Mi-8 has been around long enough, with no major developement going on, to rectify such a ticket. I also asked about a statement on what plans there are for the Mi-8, since developement really seems at a standstill. FinnJ
  4. The DCS FW-190 D9 manual only mentions the SZKK 4, but thats only the box in wicht the SZ100, SZ500 or SZ1000 can be mounted in and also contain the master Arm/Safe switch as well as a switch to deselect a weapon group (I assume the cannons can be disabled, but it´s not modelled in the DCS version) The FW-190 D9 as depicted in DCS, uses the following weapons: - 2 syncronised 13mm Rheinmetal-Borsig MG131 machineguns with 475 rounds per gun. - 2 syncronised 20mm Mauser MG151/20 cannons with 250 rounds per cannon. The 2 outmost placed ammo counters seems to be the SZ500, indicating almost 300 rounds, whereas there are only 250 rounds for each cannon. So it indicates 50 rounds too many The innermost placed ammo counters seems also to be the SZ500, indicating 500 rounds, wheras there are only 475 rounds for each gun. So it indicates 25 rounds too many This means that the span of the counters are set wrong, since they will correctly indicate when the guns or cannons are empty. The red and green lines here indicates where they should start from, when both guns and cannons are filled up: Simply adjusting the displays via the small knobs won´t help, cause then they will indicate empty when there still 25 rounds left. I also wonder why the green lights (These are not lights, but mechanical devices triggert by electrical impulses from the gun/cannon breachlock, and should have been white) only flicker on the first ammo counter and not on the other 3, since the very same electrical impuls that makes then flicker also drives the ammo counter downwards. FinnJ
  5. The red blinking counters are normally not present in the FW-190A or the BF-109 models. The counters exist in serveral versions dependent on their max count. Here is a reallife manual on the German ammo counters: http://www.deutscheluftwaffe.de/archiv/Dokumente/ABC/s/SZKK/LuftT6505Schusszeahler.pdf FinnJ
  6. Also strange that no bugfixes or enhancements came for the MI´8 with 1.2.9 and 1.2.10 ! Progress has really become really slow on the Mi-8. It´s nice to have a developer as productive as Belsimtek, but they really should start finishing their stuff instead of just starting new betas. FinnJ
  7. Though abit off topic... I think that weapons in general has too little effect in DCS. Bombs falling rather close to f.ex unamoured trucks doesn´t damage the trucks by much. Neither guns or cannons do much harm to AI aircraft, requiring alot of hits to bring down the enemy. I guess only a few 20mm hits from the FW-190 should bring down most aircraft. Also a well aimed burst of .50 from the P-51D should be enough for killing most fighter sized aircraft. FinnJ
  8. So more testing done.... I set OAT to 35°C Sitting on the ground with brakes applied Power= 2700 RPM After approximately 5 mins the engine died. So overheating is modelled, but very hard to achieve, which seems correct according to the real world flightests. Track: FW_190_OH.trk FinnJ
  9. On the ammo counters only the leftmost will flicker between black/white when the guns are fired. Maybe this is how it should be, since the 3 red lights has been put in instead. But normally all counters should flicker when the relevant gun is fired. FinnJ
  10. You might be right (though I would hate to admit it ) ... This is a flight test rapport I found: A loose translation: Cooling performance wise, there are no difference to the other 213 engines of same build tested. The highest temperature, at combat power (3000 RPM) of the cooling fluid, measured on the hottest summerday +26°C, did not exceed 103°C at the falloff altitude of 7500m. The temperature limit, specified by the manufacturer, of 100° at all altitudes was only exceeded slighlty. So maybe it really was hard to overheat the Jumo 213. On another flighttest report, the 30 min limit for use of MW-0 was also mentioned, though it was known that engines had run much longer than that without issues (With a Pony on my tail and an engine that botherwise sounds in good shape, I would rather keep using MW-50, than being shot down and that way shortened the engine lifetime). Maybe the continous use of MW-50 only degrades engine life and thats why the limit was set But this also add a further advantage over the P-51D (DCS at least), that cannot sustain full power for very long. Sorry if I made up a bug that isn't present :music_whistling: FinnJ
  11. It was a general problem for aircraft developers during WW2 to cool the engines sufficiently. The first versions of FW-190 A's had great troubles too. While the FW-190 D9 might had quite a good cooling system, it cannot be right, compared to the P-51D, which overheats after 3 mins at full power, that the FW-190 can fly at full power / no MW-50 foe 35 mins and still not quit. But I will make a track later as told. FinnJ
  12. Note that the engine will die, but not fail if flying with negative G's for a short period (The low fuel warning lights for the Forward and Aft tank will light up. FinnJ
  13. And how do You do that ? I know the knob hidden below, but it seems You can only open it between the automatically set position and full open. It cannot be fully closed . If anybody can tell me how to blow it up - please enlighten me ;) I wiil make a track later today ! FinnJ
  14. When flying at high altitude and the contrail starts to emit, it seems that it is offset to the left. Looking to the side I see the "smoke" blowing over the left wing, but nothing to see on the right side. FinnJ
  15. I´m not 100% sure that it´s a bug, but I have yet to see the engine fail due to overheat on the FW-190 D9. Full throttle, no MW-50 (so no cooling effect from that) at 3300 RPM. Keeping airspeed around 200-300 km/h. This way I could fly for 35 mins without any engine failure. The P-51D fails after some 3 mins at full power and low speed. The only way I can make it kind of quit, is by flying with negative G's, then it will get fuel starvation. FinnJ
  16. Hmmm I have now buzzed around with full power and no MW-50 at 3300 RPM, 300 km/h for 30 mins and no sign of engine failure yet. Ambient temp at sealevel is 20°C Under same circumstances (Max Power, low IAS and ambien temperature 20°C ) the P-51D fails within 5 mins or less. ***Edit*** I have now been standing still on the ground, holding the toe brakes down, with 2700 RPM at 30°C outside air temperature, both Water and Oil temps pegged at their maximum for 10 mins, with no consequence. This cannot be right !! Ticket #33318 send FinnJ
  17. Yesterday I was trying to wreck my engine by purpose... I was flying in circles at 300 km/h with full power + MW50. I could keep on flying with no sign og engine failure/degradation for more than 15 mins. What does it take to make it fail ? FinnJ
  18. Votes could go to: -Rammstein -Heino -Hansi Hinterseer
  19. I think it´s important to step carefully here. Allthough it´s almost 70 years since WW2 ended, there are still alot of feelings involved. Personally I have no trouble with the music, since I prefer the historicaæ background, but I fully understand those who dislike it. FinnJ
  20. I don´t doubt that it´s accurate. I just pointed to the Mosquito to emphasise that the spelling of Lancester probably was a "germanisation". FinnJ
  21. Mosquito is also spelled Moskito. FinnJ
  22. Dot shoot when You are either to far away or too close. Gun covergence plays a significant role on the P-51 with all the gunse rather far out on the wings. I´m not sure about the convergence distance, but I guess it´s around 500 yards. FinnJ
  23. Ask two people to evaluate the exact same car, and they will tell different stories. Some prefer Ford Mondeos others rather like Volkswagen Passat and none of these cars, objectivly seen are more bad than the other in any regime. It´s the pilot more than the aircraft that makes the difference, allthough they need to be approximately in the same league (Don´t compare a Ford Galaxy with a VW UP !). FinnJ
  24. Place a truck and then use the Trigger event called "Explode unit" Yo can set the blast level for the trigger event. FinnJ
