  1. Any timeline on when we will see a fix ? Just curious, since this debate has been on hold for some time now. FinnJ
  2. Is it possible to trigger compressor stall inflight ? Right now it´s only possible for me to trigger it on the ground. FinnJ
  3. As far as I know, the Embark/Disembark function has been disabled until a fix for some MP related crashes has been found. Otherwise search for the CTTS script. FinnJ
  4. It is not me having problems take off and landing taildraggers in DCS. I´m doing just fine. I also have no issue with realism regarding to the tailwheel skidding around. But when the aircraft skids sideways on all 3 wheels at high speed without rolling over, then either there must be ice on the runway, or something is not accurate. I do not complain, but it´s still not 100% realistic, which I also have no problems with, since most other parts of DCS physics are superior to most other flightsims I know. I was simply responding to some posts about how hard or easy it is to take off and land tailwheel aircraft compared to reality and where I find that ground behavior doesn´t feel that accurate. FinnJ
  5. Because I never have seen any real aircraft react the way I have seen aircraft skidding more or less sideways in DCS. It´s not a common problem, but it does happen sometimes. An aircraft skidding that way at 100 km/h would rather roll over. Again - it doesn´t happen very often to me, and generally physics in DCS feels very believable to me, but the trees don´t grow into the sky in DCS either. FinnJ
  6. I fully agree with You on that statement, but still under certain circumstances, aircraft acts like they skate on ice. FinnJ
  7. It has nothing to do with windowed vs fullscreen mode. Cargo camera is not implementet "YET for the Mi-8. The Mi-8 module is the single most module that really needs to be finished by BST/ED. I don´t care who of them are the culprit for this long running developement (if there actually is any kind of developement going on), but both the manual needs to be finsihed and a bunch of other lacking updates. FinnJ
  8. I´m not sure if it has been enabled again. But the latest open beta update has these entries: April 09 update open-beta 1.2.16.38741 Piston engine detonation physics introduced. Smoke (visual effect) and Increased deterioration are added. Crash on embarking troops reaching helicopter is fixed. All AA missiles. Added a prolongation target's trajectory when lock is broken. AA missile will not zeroizes assigned overload and go to straight flight, instead missile will fly to calculated intercept point. So maybe it works again. FinnJ
  9. Also note that many airfields where wide grass strips with alot more room for lateral displacement during the take off roll. And again to re-tell what many others in this thread has pointed out - we miss the physical feedback You would get in the real thing. And most important - as good virtual pilots we beleive we are, only very few of us had ever got a realistic training. Most of us has statered jumping into a high performance prop or jet aircraft, learning by doing VIRTUALLY, but still missing alot of advices, theories of flight and guidance by experienced pilots. I don´t think the DCS ground behaviour is realistic, but to point that out as the main culprit is wrong. FinnJ
  10. +1 FinnJ
  11. I do agree that radar ranging should be implementet for the Mig-21Bis, but still... To superimpose the pipper on a target only needs vertical/horizontal angular position and not range. FinnJ
  12. Range is really not needed only horizontal and vertical angular position, which is taken from the missiles seekerhead. Imagine what the seekerhead is "seeing" - a big circular area, which is it´s total field of view. A hot target would be a spot somewhere on that area if the target is within the seekerheads field of view. This position can then be overlayed on the HUD. Just like the seekerhead cannot measure the distance, the relative position can still be determined and indicated on the HUD. This is the way it works on fighters like the F-16, F-15, F/A-18 etc.. Inorder to lock an IR-missile and have the position shown on the HUD, You don´t need a radra lock, nor any other means of distance measurement. You just need to get input where the missileseeker is looking at a target and is locked. and somewhere on that line of the sight You will find the target, regardless of distance. FinnJ

  14. Does anyone know if PUS arming actually works ? I see no difference with rocket deployment regardless whether I push the PUS arming or not. FinnJ
  15. Not sure if I do something wrong.... I set AWACS freq=4.40, which relates to wave 176. When I set the radio to wave 174 and turn the antenna until the meter deflects I can communicate with AWACS. But after that, when I change the wave to something different I can still communictae with AWACS with no problem, as if the wave becomes sticky. Note: I use easy comms. EDIT!!!! I know see that with "esy comms" the radio will automatically tune to the right frequency. FinnJ
  16. Great to see that they are looking into it. It would not make much sense not to use radar ranging for guns, considering that even the F-86 had it and most probably also the Mig-17. Otherwise the ASP in gun mode simply would resemble the gunsight of the Mig-15. FinnJ
  17. Reading into a english Mig-21 manual, auto ranging definitly should work with the ASP set to "guns". Wingspan needs to be set, but in Auto mode, range should be taken from the locked radar target, or be set to 600m if no target is locked. I hope the devs will look into this. FinnJ
  18. The feature has been removed also for singleplayer due to problems in multiplayer.
  19. ...and invisble rotorblades, so we can hover... I see what direction it takes :) FinnJ
  20. As far as I know for most fighters corner speed is from 350-450 knots So for a deltawing, like the Mig-21, 430 knots doesn´t sound wrong. FinnJ
  21. V1 is decision speed. Up until this speed You can reject the take off, though this would only be done when something very serious occurs. It´s more ment for two engined aircraft where You can decide wether to continue the tale off or not. With one single engine out on a single engined aircraft, there is not much to decide. FinnJ
  22. You are 100% right in Your statement xxJohnxx ! Next problem is that when we do not understand a certain system fully and can´t get it to work as we suppose it should work, then it will be regarded as a bug. But it also comes down to the manulas supplied. If explained in an understandable way, then we will learn it, otherwise not. But some of the more special, non combat stuff, are often not used, which is a bit sad. BTW: I really like Your videos ! FinnJ
  23. Yeah.. everything has become very quiet on this front again.
  24. Also the take off technique plays in. At what rate do You rotate ? How fast did You advance the throttle ? And as asked by others - how was the weather - ISA conditions or high ambient temp with low barometric pressure ? It´s not easy to find exact numbers and tables does also not always tell the truth. In a flightsim You might also need to compromise ground performance vs flight performance. FinnJ
  25. Shame with the bombsight. As a makeshift bombsight we might be able to use the cargocam to position ourself in a hover over a target and then drop. Seems focus on the F-86 and Mi-8 has again disappeared. They only made further updates to them inorcer to make us happy and pre-order the Mig-15 :music_whistling:-sorry it´s hard not to comment.
