'Laser' Malfunction after RE-ARM bug - any news?
Dropbear replied to Dropbear's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Given the limitations of the campaign (dumb AI wingman, you alone saving the world etc) it would be nice if this 'feature' as you call it (which I disagree with, but oh well) was switchable some how. A non failing laser would be nice. -
If your frame rate only falls to 8 fps during the heavy bits of the GOW campaign then I wouldn't be complaining too much... mine is a lot worse in portions and I still persevere

Hi All! This is about my only serious issue with the game, but boy is it doozy... I am sure by now most of you are familiar with it.. You land , re-arm and when you get back on station, you can no longer lock up your targets, get a 'c' to fire clearance etc... If this is not a 'bug' but some how a simulated feature of the game - can we get some word from the devs on how long we can leave the laser switched on for - and if we need to switch it off, how long it needs to be off to cool down etc ... I am fairly sure the bug is a bug, but I'll give the devs a chance to prove me wrong ;)... Can we have some feedback please - is it a bug, and if so, when will it be patched? If not, how do we stop it from happening?

I'm quite suprised they couldnt get the graphics hardware to pick up when you're flying through a tree and implement a collision detection that way.. shrug...
-
*scratches head* I don't think I have ever seen this in a campaign mission (then again I've only ever flown GOW part 1 campaigns)
-
I'm a little confused as to what triggers a campaign mission 'failure'. I restarted the GOW campaign, first mission and I think I must have taken out just about every enemy on the map. Took out the artillery, lots of tanks etc .. Wingman took out the helos ... When I landed and exited the mission I had received a medal, but a mission (and therefore campaign) failure. Very annoying. Does the mission briefing give you the failure/success criteria? Am I blind? (a distinct possibility)

Fess up! Who else here is having a hard time?

point the nose at the sky?? ;)... yeh it's difficult to do without climbing a lot ... if I need to do a sudden stop I tend to bleed the speed off in a tight turn... but thats my limit, not the aircraft. -

If you're finding the helo hard to fly, make sure the three auto pilot buttons are lit up (not necc the alt hold, but the other three). She almost flies of rails when you have them set ... Remember that small moves of the controls work well. Most of the time i find myself almost 'leaning on the joystick' instead of pushing it around. Trim, and trim often. She takes a long time to slow down from 250 km/hr to a hover, so think ahead... -
If an elite DCS:BS player takes the real KA-50...

Zorrin, What you say is true, but on the flip side, I went flying in a cessna with an instructor, after having spent YEARS flying the thing in a Sim, and he was blown away by how comfortable and at ease I was on the first flight. I was familiar with the cockpit, knew where the instruments were and basically wasnt tense and frightened like most new students. Sim experience does really help and would cut substantial time off getting a PPL. -
Trying to hover at WP2 seems to be a no-goer for me.. maybe its the altitude but I need just about full collective just to fly up that glacier...

I feel like Im starting to get a handle on just about everything, except for some nuances with the schval targeting - and not being able to lock up targets which I think I should be. When you get the hang of things and are able to lock up, and launch a vikhr whilst moving in (not just on a hover), it's a pretty special thing ;) -
This is the exact same thing happening to me ... No "C" auth, and switching to manual results in missiles lawn darting...
-
don't know how this would work with the shkval, but yeh.. good idea
-
had the same problem in the GOW campaign... landed, rearmed twice.. on the third sortie it would no longer lock and allow me to fire .... I changed the weapons mode to manual and the vikhr would then fire... so I assume it's something to do with automatic mode and laser?
-
yeh I realise that but I loathe labels.. competely throws the suspension of disbelief out the window for me ... I can't believe modern soviet MBT's don't carry IFF equipment.
-
I'm sure in RL the russians had forward air controllers or someone they could radio to ascertain if a couple of tanks were friendly or not. We have no such luxuries in the confines of the sim :)..
-
If you're fighting the georgians then typically they're using soviet equipment... relyin on which way a tank is pointing seems rather 'low tech'..

hmmmmm ok... would have thought them moving a lot faster than that... but thanks anyway awesome mission... too hard for me and my mate but we're noobs ;) -
Playing the Georgian Oil campaign and am having real issues trying to identify blue forces from red. Is there any sort of IFF interrogation built into the BlackShark? At the moment my IFF system involves asking the wingman to attack, and if he doesn't I assume it's a blue unit.. I'd like to try something a little more 'realistic' than asking my buddy if he has a clue whether it's a friendly or not.

One comment from extensive playing yesterday is that the columns tend to move inland *VERY* fast!... Im talking 150km/hr it appears.. How fast does an armourmored column move in this game? -

for the people that decide to keep the missions to themselves, im sure that would be considered stealing.. so I won't do it.. but thanks for the info anyway -

What a dissapointment that no one has bothered replying to this. Thanks so much for putting the effort in. I tried the mission last night and although it plays havoc with my frame rates - it looks absolutely top shelf!.. Well done! And thanks for releasing it to the public. The trend of building missions and keeping them for one server only is a real dissapointment to me.. -
oh yes, completely.. getting 33% better performance on your CPU with no loss of stability is a completely stupid idea.. it boggles the mind why people do it ... :P
