  1. I had the same issue with MANPADS taking out Chevy in the practice mission. I forgot to check the log, but I was eyes on Chevy at the moment I saw the missile plumb and it wasn’t connected to any vehicle (and it was a small plumb). I did not have a similar issue in the real mission.
  2. Does anyone have any hints on low level Mk-82APO runs? I've managed to make it through this mission, but my work at the SA-3 site was purely low level run and gun. I thought I'd make short work of it with a Mk-82 ripple release. I got the site on my TGP, lased for range, than set my SPI at the western most radar. DSMS profile was set for ripple pair of 2, 300' apart. Well, once I turned in to the target, my SPI marker was off to the left of my HUD and the site straight ahead of me. I had CCIP CR setup, so I did a pop up on the first run here. However, having to get in a 5 degree dive for the pipper to show up while so low is not comforting. I understand the SPI was likely off due to this being a mountainous/hilly area and the elevation not being quite right. But I thought lasing the range was supposed to help this? Even with the gun runs, I got an invalid CCIP heading west and could only make my passes heading east. Made it through doing this, but the MANPADS in the cities sure loved seeing me there and ran through a lot of flares. I was hoping some folks here could enlighten me to making these low level runs work. I was expecting to wipe most of the site with -82's and then clean up one gun run. Taking out the AAA and SAM on Chevy escort was simple after having to make these low level runs repeatedly in MANPAD alley.
  3. I too am having this issue with Jaguar. I have reinstalled the campaign and am on 2.5 OB with the latest version. Anchor at Adder and contact Jaguar. Told there is a type 2 and I say to send the 9-lone. I then get an “abort, abort, abort”, told VUL is over and RTB.
  4. My biggest note about the last 3 missions is the time spent to find one remaining truck somewhere in the burning pires once the convoy is pretty decimated and cluttered. It wasn't too bad in missions 8 and 9, but particularly in the last mission, I lost one or two outside the illumination flare boundary and never found them. I just had to keep reflying the mission until I got the convoy stopped quickly in the center of the flare. I would have rather spent more time challenging the tested munitions than circling looking for one last AFV or truck to strafe down.
  5. I finally made it through BFT and AAT. AAT didn’t stress the transit corridors or prohibited areas the way it seems TTQ will. Could anyone point me to or recommend a map of the AO? I’ve reviewed the ones in the briefing, but they don’t have enough detail to know all the prohibited areas (not all are labeled on the map). And the map doesn’t label the reservoir either, although I can guess this one.
  6. It seems it is possible, but took quite a bit of work! A CADC failure with loss of PACS in one try didn’t help. While possible, I have to criticize these A-G delivery missions a little bit. Now that I’m through this one, I’m moving quicker through the others. But I don’t know that adding a half dozen stealing clean up runs is as valuable for training as it would be to stress meticulous employment of the weapons in question. Grading on bomb accuracy or something would seem much more fitting. Would be nice to go more for quality over quantity. Maybe after proving we can be accurate and conserve gun ammo on the gun mission, could cut back on having to clean up all the targets. I don’t think I finished a single mission with more than 100 rounds of 30 mm.
  7. I have flown AAT07 a couple times now. It seems all vehicles must be destroyed at each waypoint to succeed. This is quite the number. There’s about 5 at the first, 5 at the second, about 20 at the third and about 10 in the convoy at the fourth. Are we really expected to kill about 40 targets with 14 rockets and one load on the gun? Even with short bursts on the gun, that’s a lot of targets and the rockets aren’t the most accurate for a one-shot/one kill. I average about 40 rounds in a gun burst, but this only gets me 25-30 targets without room for error.
  8. Understood and appreciated for opening some options after proving ourselves already.
  9. Thanks, I will keep 29.92 for future missions. That would be interesting information if you do find a link. I would have thought combat pilots would be very disciplined with things like altimeters, but could also understand that once you're fence in/behind the FLOT, there may be no reliable knowledge of altimeter settings and it wouldn't be useful.
  10. I have just completed BFT and am moving on the AAT. In BFT, the altimeter was rarely messed with and didn't come in to play much, but it seems AAT might be different. In AAT01, the altimeter is reported in the briefing as QNH 29.72, QFE 29.67. Much of my altimiter knowledge is more civilian aviation, but I feel I understand these concepts well. QFE: altimter setting to read 0' barometric on the ground at a certain location. QNH: altimeter setting to read the airports true elevation ASL. In the civilian world, I would set QNH below TA/TL (FL180 in the USA) and standard 29.92 above. So I feel I should set 29.72. The problem is this doesn't seem to give me an altitude that matches what shows for my aircraft in the F10 view at all, and what the mission seem to read for my altitude. While flying at 29.72, my altimeter reports 14,000, but I am being yelled at by the FE to maintain angels 14 and the F10 map view shows about 15,060'. So, am I misled somewhere in my understanding, or what should I do to satisfy the triggers in the mission? Thanks for any help.
  11. I just completed AAT01. At the end of the mission, after landing on runway 7, I was told to exit right and take the first open reventment on the left. After coming to a complete stop, I never got the "you have 2 minutes to complete your shutdown procedure" message. I shutdown as normal and after exiting, had a 100 mission rating. So luckily, this didn't affect me on this mission, but I have 9 more to go (then TTQ). I've attached an image with a line added in blue starting about the point on got my taxi instructions and where I parked. Spots S25-27 in this diagram are hardened shelters with closed doors, so I couldn't park in them in the sim. S28 had an A-10 parked already, so was skipped. I tried coming to a stop in A30 and did not get any message, so I went to A29, that seemed to be the most direct interpretation of the message. Could anyone circle or point me to where I am expected to park? Thank you!
  12. I've reinstalled the mission and had the same issues except for the issue about exiting the MOA (partly my error, I was heading back to Batumi after being told "contact tower", forgetting this mission ended at Kobuletti). I ignored the flight lead and hit all timings within +/- 3 seconds and flew the course to well <1 NM deviation. I got a Q- rating (presumably because of the formation issues). I accepted this knowing I could fly the low level course on time/altitude or follow the lead, but not both and will be happy to move on the the advanced campaign.
  13. Thank you, I’ll try reinstalling tomorrow when I get home. I’m hopeful this will work, although I only purchased and installed this campaign after installing DCS 2.5 (I had the old old version downloaded and unlocked through you website years ago), so who knows. I’ll report back.
  14. Just to check before I do that, reinstalling won’t erase my campaign progress? It’s been quite a lot of time to get to this point.
  15. I've made it to BFT-12, low level flight plan, but am having issues. I am on DCS 2.5. I have only flown this once, but wanted to ask here. 1. Timings: if I follow the flight lead, I hit the route entry too early, by about 90 seconds. However, doing this, I was flying about 290 kts to make the rest of the timings. If I don't follow flight lead, I'm told I'm out of formation. He pushed exactly as planned at 06:35:00, so that part seemed ok. 2. Formation flying: is this graded on this flight? Because the instructor is simply put, crazy. With many steep climbs and dives, unannounced. And he is often above 1500' AGL, the maximum on the low level route. Further, as above, if I stay in formation with him, I will be off DTOT for the entry. The remaining where closer at least. 3. What speed is the route intended to be flown at? There aren't timings for anything by WPT 3, 5, 10, 15. So if I flew this at 220 kts and 280 kts was intended, I wouldn't know I'm way off until waypoint 8 or 9 and have an ETA for 10...by which point I could be unable to make time. 4. The CDU DTOT for 5, 10, and 15 are all +37 seonds (i.e. 06:40:37 at entry instead of 06:40:00). Does the mission grade on 00 seconds or 37 seconds (I'd like to change them in the CDU if I could). 5. Inbound to waypoint 15 I'm told the route has been completed, climb to pattern altitude and contact Batumi. If I head for the pattern, I'm told I exited the MOA and get an immediate terminate. What/where is the trigger for clearance to exit the MOA? I seem to have missed this, and while contact Batumi for approach isn't explicit clearance to exit, it was unclear and seemed as I was being instructed to enter the approach. Good group of missions, but sometimes the triggers are a little unclear.
  16. I’m slightly confused and am not sure I understand how to do this or the relationship of open beta and open alpha. My understanding was that there are currently two discrete standalone DCS versions. Open Beta v1.5.8.x and Open Alpha v2.2.x. As I read it, only v1.5.8.x (which I do not have installed) will update through the auto updater. Version 2.2.x would only update once the release version of 2.5 is out. Is there a beta branch of the open alpha that will get updated on Jan 31? My understanding is that there has never been a release version of v2.2 and I’m basically already in the beta branch as such.
  17. I have only DCS Open Alpha (2.2) installed. I am on a limited data plan on satellite internet for a couple months. I do not currently have Open Beta installed. So I have a few questions. 1. If I install DCS 2.5 Open Beta, will it still copy files from my open Alpha installation? 2. Is the smallest download (I know it will be 10's of GB still) to use the stand alone Open Beta installer when it is released on Feb 1? Would installing Open Beta 1.5 have any benefit? 3. Is there anyway to download a full data standalone installer? I am able to download without limits at work and have a 128 gb flash drive, so just asking if there was anyway I could utilize this to get a lot of the data on my computer at home without going through my satellite internet.
  18. I was wondering if anyone from the group could share any tips for controlling the harrier in the hover. Particularly in regards to avoiding or negating side slip. It seems that it is very easy to get unstable and just oscillate rocking from side-to-side. I haven't been able to find much reading if rudder, aileron, or both are best used. I've learned for the controlled sideslip on to the ship during landing, aileron and rudding in opposite directions is the most controlled...as I should have realized and known given the sideslip landing techniques of the same name in GA aircraft.
  19. Can someone help me understand the activation, DRM, and offline use for the AV-8B? My DCS machine currently has very limited access. We just moved and have been having issues getting internet. My entire internet ability is through sharing a hotspot on my phone. I have saved my login/password and for some period of time this keeps my computer "authorized" and I can use the AV-8B. But after 3-4 days, it says that I need a saved login/password and the AV-8B module is no longer authorized. My signal is unreliable and it can be a day or two before I have the right alignment of the stars to authorize it again through my phone. Is this as good as it gets, or is there a way to authorize it for longer, or something else to facilitate offline use?
  20. As I understand it, the Black Sea map will make in to 2.0 eventually, but without the added benefits of being designed in EDGE (i.e., it won't look much different). DCS 2.0 is alpha...which usually in software means it's not feature complete.
  21. If I recall correctly, PAC is disabled if the speed brakes are deployed at all. I seem remember I had the same issue when I was trying to slow myself down on the gun run, not realizing I was knocking out PAC doing this.
  22. Those HUD tapes are usually gun camera footage with a HUD overlay. The camera is fixed solidly. A pilot's head moves.
  23. Well, I feel stupid asking this...but I'm stuck at BFT01! Every time the instructor checks my start up procedure, he claims I haven't tested the flaps. Well, I've watched go all the way down and then all the way up myself. Any thoughts as to what's causing this not to catch? Thanks for any help.
  24. I am trying to set-up a virtual monitor to try using iControl DCS without the screens on my main FS screen. I've read up on virtual monitors and even had one working on my old system. I can't seem to get one to work again thought. I have Windows 7 with a GTX 770. What I am finding online is that I should be able to select "detect" under the Windows "screen resolution" window, followed by adding an non-detected monitor. Problem I have is that whenever I press "detect" nothing happens and I'm not able to enter a monitor. I remember before I had to use a program to create this virtual monitor, but would love to build it in to Windows instead. I don't know if it matters, but I used to have my TV connected through a DVI-to-HDMI cable, but have since removed that. Any help or thoughts? I'm just getting back in to the A-10C again after a while away and would love to get this setup. Thanks for any help.
  25. 1. Straight forward CCIP is available and can be safely executed...guess there needs to be some review on delivery profiles. 2. CCIP/CR (consent release) makes CCIP an option in effectively level flight even. Please don't state things that are inaccurate...the noobs are gullible and impressionable (i.e. don't know better than to not believe you).
