  1. this thread got my attention and i thought wikipedia could help: "The flight director computes and displays the proper pitch and bank angles required in order for the aircraft to follow a selected path. A simple example: the aircraft is in level flight on a heading of 045 degrees and at an altitude of 15000 feet maintaining a speed of 260 kts, the FD bars are thus centered. Then the flight director is set to a new heading of 090 degrees and a new altitude of 20000 feet. The aircraft must thus turn to the right and climb. This is done by rolling to the right and pulling up. The roll bar will deflect to the right and the pitch bar will deflect upwards. The pilot will then pull back on the control column while rolling the aircraft to the right. Once he reaches the proper pitch and bank angle the FD bars will again center and remain centered until it is time to roll back to wings level (when the heading starts to approach 090). When the aircraft approaches 20000 feet the pitch bar will deflect downwards thus commanding the pilot to reduce pitch in order to level off at the new altitude. The FD is generally used in direct connection with the Autopilot. Where the FD commands the AP to put the aircraft in the attitude necessary to follow a trajectory. The FD/AP combination is typically used in autopilot coupled low instrument approaches, (below 200 feet agl) or CAT II and CAT III ILS instrument approaches."
  2. man, i know freetrack. i'll not argue here anymore. just know that you can run it without outputting to trackir standards.
  3. now, how's one supposed to steal an interface?
  4. no... then you misunderstood what freetrack is! freetrack has it's own interface (which games can support or not) and also outputs in trackir's interface (so that games which only support trackir can understand it). would you say that openoffice stole microsoft's formats? no! it has it's own formats and also enables users to manipulate documents in microsoft's formats. hope i made it clear this time. edit: you can lock anything anytime. cheers!
  5. i disagree. head tracking is a well known technology nowadays.
  6. again, what already has been said: http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/general/Flttrain/Planes/Pubs/TP9982/Exercise6.htm useful info!
  7. not yet! :(
  8. freetrack ftw! recording at 30 fps and outputting at 60 fps, mine works just fine. i know 120 would be a lot better, but i would invest that money to buy some rudders, instead... no way!
  9. that's great! in fact, too much information! thanks a lot JHepburn! edit: this would be the .pdf version for download: http://www.tc.gc.ca/publications/EN/TP9982/PDF%5CHR/TP9982E.PDF
  10. only thing is that the door just closes slowly. that's not physics, 'cause it should slam and break at 150 km/h. i think the developers did not modeled that after the wind, but to help and force the pilot to close it. vista 32, sound blaster x-fi gamer. there are glitches and the fact that the door is closed doesn't reflect in the sound sometimes (i have to press f2/f1 do get to normal again). i hope that'll happen soon! :smilewink:
  11. i thought that dcs would be the ultimate platform for airplanes, helicopters, tanks, etc.
  12. hi arthuro12, i came to a solution on this, maybe you can do it too: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35901
  13. hi, anyone has a place where we can study about maneuvering helicopters, specially the Ka-50? thanks!
  14. boy, when was the last time you stopped by this forum? the black shark is already out. everyone is playing. are you serious?
  15. you're right, but dcs is about bringing them all to the same sphere.
  16. i was getting 20 to 30 fps in cockpit, 50 to 60 outside, with 1680x1050, all settings max, 16x aa, vsync on. now i installed prifinitty, configured dcs.exe in favorites, and i'm getting a minimum of 40 fps in cockpit!!! i wasn't able to do that with THG. but now i need to know more about the page file trick. tried to disable it, change it's size, but no success. my config is: nvidia 790i, q9450, 4gb ddr3 ram, 2 x 8800gt, vista 32.
  17. f-16 fighting falcon ftw!
  18. what works in vista? the page file trick? do you have vista 32 or 64? what did you do, exactly? please tell us the steps to do it. i'm using vista 32 and tried removing the page file using the "system properties" applet from control panel. i even managed to make the page file size = 0, but no success. hope you can help us.
  19. wtf man! i'll try that NOW!
  20. thg doesn't detect the dcs.exe process. i have to manually add the executable under "application profiles". still, no success. :(
  21. i'm running vista 32. no difference in fps after using this. also, dcs.exe has affinity with all processors by default in task manager. am i missing something?
  22. he wasn't even 1 second in control of that thing. imagine that with a multi-million chopper. edit: loaded to it's teeth!
  23. to me, depending on the trimming applied, they will collide even with smooth rolls to the left (as in the video) but, as you said, that guarantees the show. i'm doing fine for 2 days now. the blades aren't even getting close to each other. what i do is constantly watch how and when i'm using the collective. thanks a lot for your help!
  24. now i see the other posts have told me the same thing... and i didn't hear to them! so, my whole problem is not controlling airspeed. i'll try to give more attention to the collective and doing smooth movements with the cyclic now. thank you very much. thank you all!
  25. well, after a few days working on it, i can't help but ask for help again...:helpsmilie: one strange pattern i noticed with this problem i'm having is that the blades only lean towards each other on the right side of the chopper. i tried to make them contact on the left side several times, but no success, even trying to roll to the other side. they always go for a hit in the right side. i also ran some tests in game to see if my controllers were calibrated, and they're all ok (collective, stick and rudder), as you can see by the track file attached. please if you could look at this video on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GLuubKUUys . calibrado.trk
