No advice? Or have I missed some relevant information out? I am leaning towards purchasing the hd7970 but is the CPU passable?

Hi I am planning an upgrade to my aging system and wanted some advice on whcich way to go. I.e CPU / Mobo or GPU. I don't really want to replace the whole system just yet but thought I may get a boost with a intermediate step? Basically I just want to increase FPS and up settings. I only use,this pc for flight Sim(s). Budget circa £400 Current system is (don't laugh :smilewink:): AMD Phenom II X4 quad-core 3.4GHz 8gb ddr3 gtx 295 Running 1920*1080 42lcd (main) and 2x8 Lilliput USB monitors. (2nd one not installed yet) Any suggestions? Thinking HD7950 or 7970 but have always had nvidia. Any help / guidance would be really really appreciated :helpsmilie Slightly off topic - I also have a second networked PC running some Helios screens - is it possible to export veiwports over yet? :

Thanks all :) I'm sure the able/stow was the other way around at some point . More than likely just my memory doh ! Thanks for spotting it :) With regards to the runway headings- yes I've been aware of this issue previously and have various charts and iPhone app with the variance indicated. As someone has suggested above I only use them for a rough alignment but will try the further altered 19.5 :) Also I do only prefer to set course heading and understand that this is optional / ease of use. Anyway thank you all for your excellent help. I'm glad to see the forum is still just as friendly and full of positive helpful people. Thanks again now I'm off for some more refresher training :)

Hopefully ive just uploaded the track - As you can see I end up landing using the HSI alone and judging the glide slope bt the distance to airfield. Still not getting steering bars - Must be something in the recent changes as this always worked for me up to 1.1.0.9 (as I said ive just come back from a break). 125 works fine for me? Low VIS ILS Test.trk

Hi Ive been away for awhile and just running through some basic training again - ILS zero vis landing being one of them. Anyway I have set up ILS as normal Freq 110.30 (Batumi R130), turn on ILS (beeps), Set Tacan 16x (TR) on, Turned both Tacan /ILS on in the Navigation panel , unstowed bars. Set HSI with 125 etc On approach I am still not getting the glide scope or localizer showing??? Has something changed?

Sorry, I am basically trying to create a mission where I can take off with my wingman , complete objectives and land at a none specified (I.e on the fly) airport. The reason that I do not have a homebase to simply RTB my wingman is that I am also trying to further my understanding of CDU functions (Offset/Fplan etc). Takeoff : At the moment I start my wingman from rampstart, he starts up taxi's with me but then just sits on the side of the runway when I get takeoff clearance. He will takeoff after me but I was thought I might be able to have him take off in formation - possible? Landing: I only seem to have RTB option which as explained above is not sufficient as I want the flight to land at a none specified airport. I would also like to fly this in formation as well. Hope that clarifies what I am trying to achieve?

I have searched the forum and read the manual but still cant find what I am looking for? Can you /how do you take off and land with a flight / wingman?

I believe it is also better to enable them as a slider.

AFAIK - Pressing the T/O Trim resets all trim. You should press and hold till you see the light. If you have previously trimmed a lot then you will notice it takes longer before it lights presumably as it is resetting more. You can also use this in bombing runs to get an untrimmed approach.

I have been practising various things, referencing the manual , this forum however I have a couple of quick questions regarding Landing approaches. 1. I have read on the forum that the ADI steering bar used in an ILS approach is mis- aligned. Is this correct? will it be fixed? Is there a workaround? note: I have the Airfield printouts etc which show a bearing difference to runway etc but I was just wondering if this was the workaround or something else? 2. With ref to above . Can I confirm that I am correct in saying that the GS bar is working and operational? 3. I have been using the CDU offset function to map Airport steerpoints from radio refernces (Not already in Fplan). Is there a way to search and find Field Info other than the dirvert page(which only shows closest)? Thanks for any help in advance?

Thanks Ill give it ago - I was looking for a full flight takeoff - pattern , changing various formations - landing sort of thing. I will play around with the ME and see what I can do.

I use the MAV both ways - Ive found the TGP method is great and certainly the easier approach. but for fast ripples - slave to MARKS/ Steerpoints to bring you seeker close to target then go direct. Lowering the slew rate and setting autopilot on PATH in a shallow -5 dive toward the target area helps alot and provides a nice steady platform.

Great - this how I've been operating. Just a couple of questions. Fence in - all off? When would you use nose illumination? Any protocol on internal lighting? (RL) I've noticed a white light on the upper fuse/behind canopy - what is this? Can it be switched? Thanks Funk

Thanks for the heads up all - I never realised that the Laser had affect on dumb munition. Great stuff hopefully this will improve my hit rate. :)

Im a noob but I thought Mk82 was dumb therefore laser would do nothing ????

In short I have read several posts on the use of Wind Correction however there still seems to be a debate as to whether or not it works. Have I missed something or is this still up for debate? In other words is there a verdict on if it is working and affecting dumb bomb accuracy?

I went to staples (Manchester UK) the cost was about £70 so I popped to my little printers and got the same thing for £30 - looks just like the OP's. :)

hmmmmm Just got it working in a air refueling mission. The mission I have tried it in before was the "sitting ducks" one. I tried to SJET some missles . bombs etc - no joy
