Ahh famous last words.. 'It could be done quite easily I think, but there is alot more things that need to be done long before something like this.'
-
Well if you ever played Crysis or FSX, the difference from Vanilla DX9 to DX11 is quite stunning. Its about time the flight sim genre joined the DX11 club. AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
Be patient & keep supporting them so they can continue making awesome sims, otherwise you'll be playing Tom Clancy's 'H.A.W.X. 3!'...:(

I cant believe they are still pushing red/green glasses. I had EDimensional shutter 3D glasses like 10 years ago and it worked pretty good although the downside was it slowed the games down for rendering everything twice back in those days that was a problem..

Oh wow send him our best thoughts for a quick recovery

Maybe some mod/map makers can work on this after release?!:smilewink:

Its an interesting idea! Although I doubt they can integrate such a big feature this late in the dev process? I think its something that would need to be developed along with the rest of the sim along with interface and how it'd impact the overall playability and testing of those systems? -

Speed & Angels was a real disappointment as 80% of it was talking to her family and about how she 'feels' there wasn't anywhere near enough about the actual training or missions on the boat to justify the purchase. If you can find it, I highly recommend 'ICE HORNET' its about the swedish F18s and the photography is STUNNING. Has a little bit about the pilots and what happens at base but 80% is raw jets. Feels SOO nice to see a sim take place in the U.S. (partially) I feel like I been living in russia for the past 10 years lol
-
I cant tell you how nice it is to see something other than GREEEEEEEEN. Looks amazing!
-
AWESOME video!! Thats a reality check..you cant hear anything except the engines lol
-
It doesn't seem like something they would 'forget' to add considering the amount of detail they are putting in, if its possible to open and close and if the real A10s is motorized Im sure it will be in the sim!
-
FSX is a HOG, but pretty amazing at the same since its generating all those procedural buildings, real time lighting, shadows, clouds I dont think any DCS sim comes close to that amount of number crunching or expansive map area? I can still barely run FSX with all the details up but BS is no problem at all.

heh dont start asking questions like this, people will complain your asking for too much and that they dont care because they are always in the cockpit:smilewink:
-
Hmm if thats an A10..what happened to its engines? They are huge..should they not be visible even with a wide angle lens pointing backwards? Im not buyin it..

Of course, I have some background in game development (been working in it since 1995) and altho Im no 'FX' artist I know about some of the process for non simulation titles. While the actual effect is pretty simple to achieve with a variable series of textures perhaps (Im not even talking particle emitters here!) there would be some overhead with the equations I imagine, as to when the vapor trails/wing effects would happen and the testing of that feature to make sure its accurate. So yea its not just a matter of slapping on the texture and calling it good. Im well aware of it. Even IL2 models vapor trails if I remember and they have how many planes? Just sayin.

Every other genre of gaming has been pushed into the 'next generation' albeit on consoles, but PC hardware has also kept up in the background and since the Flight Sim genre is has been all but dead for quite a while, we've missed out on all the cool stuff everyone else is enjoying in their games so I dont think its asking too much to get a little of that. And its already there I mean they have the 'light blooming' which was evident in the last videos (altho Im not a fan of this feature and I know it'll be possible to turn if off) And so with the other effects, Im sure it'd be possible to satisify people like you with lower end machines perhaps that you can just switch off high end effects, but for those of us who do enjoy the bells & whistles with the machines that can handle it..and come on we aren't pushing the same polygon limits some of these FPS games are pushing (altho high fidelity flight models probably makes up for that!) We'd like to be in on the next generation too and not feel like we're lagging behind 10 years. What I've seen so far definitely does not indicate that either so its gonna be very cool, but a simple effect like the one Im talking about wouldn't take a huge amount of time to implement if there was bandwidth available, and with such a complex sim its not likely but hey, was just bringing it up. No harm, no foul:thumbup:

Im cool with it, I saw someone else talking about the gun kicking up dirt too which I think is also kinda important..the whole point of the A10 is the gun and it should really make a mess of the ground/objects too, at least if the real life video's I've seen are anything to go by?
-
Not at all, I was just asking to see if anyone even thought about it. DCS A10 is already a win for me regardless, I dont think anyone here would disagree with that. DCS is doing an AMAZING job and its like asking for the cherry on top I know. It'd be nice, but no biggie. Im all for the attention to details and that kinda stuff turns me on. Ok I admitted it lol

Of course but then again we're not real pilots and like to watch external views sometimes too, especially on playback! If you wanna go down that road, they might as well not include external views at all because real pilots dont see that either..then again..they see it on their wingmans jet heh Also is there any small tactical value to seeing that on your own or other's jets? Shows what their energy state jet is in (pulling hard Gs ect) might be useful?
