Unbelievable! :disgust: Why is HP still shiping broken HMD's after already recalling them back from the vendors. This just does not makes sense? Anyone have a guess as to why they would do this? Makes me wonder if I should just refuse the package due to arrive tomorrow? I am curios to see the new screens, but what a hassle having to ship it back. Just hours before I got notification, I had considered cancelling the preorder as to avoid this happing.

Thanks Secoda! I was a Pimax backer so the hit wouldn't be as bad, but it would be a big hit I'm sure. I might just keeps it for the sim collection but I need more testing. I've only used it once, as My motion cockpit is under construction. I used it in X plane only for a few minutes in the starting hangar only, and was immediately disappointed. I spent no time on setup (still learning how to) but the resolution seemed not much better than CV-1. Cessna s on the other side of the hangar looked like fuzzy blobs. I instantly wanted to sell it and order a Reverb! I'll try again soon and see if I can make things better. I'm firmly in the " FOV is cool, but resolution / clarity is paramount" camp!

No still 2 left! Grab them while you can, and hope for the best! Secoda - Will I want to sell my 5K+ or the the large FOV worth keeping for flight / racing sims ?
-
4 left - I guess we will have additional reviews soon..........

Surely they would not release more HMD's unless they were sure they had resolved everything? Perhaps these were "fixed" in house, and the longer delay will be for revised factory units? A boy can hope! It had to be a fairly large amount to cover all the back orders and have 12 left over?

This is strange. I got a email last night asking if I still wanted my Reverb Order, and stated that they had no date for availability. I just pulled up the order and it says shipping soon, but I did't get a notification email that they were in stock? Whats up, and are these updated models? If not, where did they come from?

No good gesture goes unpunished..........

Should I cancel my Amazon order, or assume all will be well when they ship?

The agony of the wait...........

A kit with 2 included sizes could solve this issue. One shorter, and another longer. If only including 1 extension size, I vote for the same length as a real mounted FA/18 Stick.

IN! Does anyone think the 20 degree swing of the joystick will be too much for extension use? The Virpil T50 is 16 degrees?
-
Was there any mention in this thread about joystick extensions?

Still nothing from Amazon. Ordering from them was a absolute mistake......

But can you comment on the stereoscopic or 3D effect differences? Do you see it? Any chance of doing a quick comparison looking out for this single factor. A naughty movie shoud do the trick  I'll admit, I was concerned back when I heard about the possible reduced 3D effect from the tested review. I feel 3D effect is essential!

Great news for you builders! I accidentally just discovered the a Plugin has been developed for Xplane11. I don't know if it works as nicely as the DCS plugin, but I'm thrilled that we at least have something as I began this SFX100 project in hopes that a plug in would be developed for both Xplane11 and DCS. My gamble has now paid off. Here it is https://github.com/Vantskruv/SimfeedbackXP11

I don't expect monitor clarity, put surely it should be better than this? The view was much like what I see if I don't wear my glasses in real life. "And I was wearing glasses with the 5K"I assume resolution causing this "Out of focus effect" . Maybe it's something with Xplane, as I did try a couple Oculas titles as a test when the 5K came in and they weren't so blury. I guess I was just a little shocked by all the talk on how the clarity of the 5K+ was so sharp. All I see is Cessna's about 50' away look like fuzzy blobs. Is my 5K defective? This is disappointing as I'm dumping thousands in a dual use racing / Flight motion cockpit setup! Heck I have about $5000 just in flight / racing peripherals. I MUST have Xplane11, DCS, and Assetto Corsa all working with acceptable clarity in VR! BTW - I am NOT anti VR. VR has been my dream since 1990. I am anti blury images! Also, I know this is a Reverb thread, and I await mine from Amazon, as I box up this 5K and list it on Ebay.

Looks like all my hopes are now on the Reverb. After finishing my new TOTL computer for exclusive VR use, I was finally able to give the Pimax 5K + a try. It was horrid. I honestly thought the rez was just as bad as my CV1? I CAN'T believe I spent 3 Grand on a new computer for this? I need to try some other "games" I guess, But first up was Xplane, and it put me in a big hanger with aircraft, that from a distance, looked like big white blobs. If Imacken is right and The Reverb isn't dramatically better than Gen 1.5 such as the 5K+, then I'll go triple monitors. because from what I can tell Gen 1.5 sucks hard. Extremely low rez with Moire effect everywhere.

Yeah, TPR's or Slaw's are my picks n the under $1000 price bracket......

Tempted to cancel Amazon and go with ShopBlt. Anyone else?

While we and talking about about SteamVR. New to steam, but will need it for my Pimax and upcoming Reverb. Can I just install SteamVR. Or, do have have to install "Steam" first then steam VR is a add on module? How does this work? I cant find just staem VR alone?

VR is not Close enough to spend more money on yet!!!
Wmacky replied to Targanon's topic in Virtual Reality
IMO -- You are wrong! And have picked a poor time to abandon VR. You should have skipped the Rift and joined in now! I agree that better rez is paramount. The resolution of the original rift just kills me. It ruins the experience so much that I quit using it a year ago. What it did do is demonstrate that VR will be the only preferred display for simulations, and monitors were soon to be worthless for this purpose. I feel that that time could be now, and this would be the worst possible time to invest in a expensive monitor. We will soon know, but I feel that a top I-9 / 2080 TI rig and a HP Reverb. will be the setup, that finally allow you to give away your obsolete monitors. Several reviews indicate that this 2K view is just a stone throw from a monitor view. That's the "close enough" that people have been waiting for. As said - I'd rather be in an aircraft, and flying it, then looking at pictures on a screen. No mater how nice they look. -
The Comparison!

US HP store all sold out! Amazon better not disappoint.

I've finnaly gathered all the bits and will start building over the holiday weekend. I'm rather cash poor now. This is what $2800.00 looks like......

Now add cockpit motion, and upgrade to a HP Reverb when they come out and you will shit your pants............
