I was trying to log onto the dcs website so I could buy a new module or two but all my browsers kept getting the ssme error. Server not found and on some it listed dns as the cause, so I changed my dns servers and still no luck. anyone else have this problem ? this is what chrome says the error is. This site can’t be reached http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com’s server DNS address could not be found. Try: Reloading the page Checking the connection ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Great, thanks very much for that info, it will save me hunting for my lockon disc as I did alot of re-arranging recently and everything has been put away into boxes and I wouldnt know where to start looking for the lockon cd. So that is really great that I can skip that part of the install process :) Thank you both for replying.

I built a new rig not long ago and as usual everything got wiped in the process. So I bought me a few of the latest modules since I have been away from flying for about a year. What I need to know is, previously when installing Flaming Cliffs you had to first install lockon. Is this still the case, install lockon and then install FC3 and then DCS, or has things changed since I last had to install it and there is now no need to install lockon first before installing FC3 ? Thanks.

Although mig21 wouldnt deactivate after upgrading to win 10, it activated no problem on windows 10, although I took one activation as a hit, to be expected of course since the previous activation wouldnt deactivate so I have 8 activations left instead of 9, overall I am very happy I didnt have any problems like other users have had. LNS FTW!!!

I had problems deactivating mig 21 bis, it gave me an error that deactivation was impossible ? I gave nick an PM but he must have his hands full with all the ppl having problems as he has yet to reply, so he must be very busy with everyones keys. Ive only ever used my key once to activate on windows 7, hopefully windows 10 doesnt mess things up for me when it comes to activating. I will try installing tomorrow and if I have any activation problems I will give nick another PM, also am not so fussed if I have lost 1 key activation by upgrading to windows 10 as I should still have 9? Left and thats more than enough.

Chappie... It be cool if you could buy them, I'd buy anita/mia from channel 4's Human's, she is uber hawt for being a potential killer robot with functional A.I. If only it was legal to marry her, she wouldnt complain about doing the dishes or cleaning the house and wouldnt say no when you wanna get jiggy wit her. Just remember, if it all comes true then remember that I said I wanted to buy Anita/Mia first, the rest of you can have her psycho killer sister, she does come with some perks, she did work in a brothel for a short time before going on a killing spree, so atleast you know she will know how to get you turned on just seconds before she kills ya :)

Cool, thanks Const for your feedback.

Sorry I didn't notice it, however I do agree with everything you say. It should automatically be https as soon as you sign in and you shouldnt have to type the https manually for it to work. Thats my take on it.

Thanks for that tip shade.

I was going to buy a module this afternoon and I noticed that the http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com website is not secured with https, I never went through with the purchase so it maybe does change to https after the checkout stage as I did go as far as the checkout but it remained http only, however the thing is, all of our information and most importantly our game keys are out there for anyone who can get/hack into the server, personally I think our game keys should be protected just like credit card info, personally I think the dcs website should be https from when you sign in especially since transactions take place and our keys are on show. Is this something that we should be worried about and does buying modules also just use http instead of https ? Any info would be good to hear as it is kinda disconcerting to know that their is no secure connection between user/buyer and the server itself.

I cant wait for this to be released, their mig21 module is amazing and if their f14 is as good as that, which I fully expect it will be, then in my opinion it will cement leatherneck sims status as the best third party module maker for dcs.

Same here, just be careful and dont click on the links and make sure your passwords for the sites and your email account is long and mixed characters

Same here. Just make sure your email account password is long and mixed characters and also make sure your dcs website one is the same. Btw, dont click on the links in the email as they might not be coming from dcs themselves it may be spoofed.

I still think their would be some recoil as the rockets are fixed to the rails so they dont just slide off, so the initial thrust of the rocket motor would need to overcome the rocket holding mechanism, thus producing some sort of recoil. How much recoil I couldnt say, but their must be some as the rockets are fixed/held in place so they dont slide off on takeoffs/landings and whilst in flight, so my guess is that the recoil is coming from the rocket retaining mechanism which would need to be A, broken by the thrust of the rocket motor and break at a given pressure or B, the rocket holding mechanism holds the rocket in place and a certain amount of thrust from the rocket motor is needed to make the rocket slide off the rail. I think thats where the recoil would come from, but I am just thinking out aloud. Just to add, huey pilots in vietnam said that if they fired all their rockets or a good few of them at once it felt like the helo went backwards 20 feet and stood still in the air for a few seconds. So recoil is coming from somewhere, even today it still happens with aircraft.

Everyones jumping to conclusions that dcs mig 21 bis is to blame for the low fps, couldnt it be caused by the new patch that was installed before mig 21 itself could be installed and played with ? Just a thought...
-
Yup, i did the same, I deleted the mouse horizontal and vertical views as I use trackir, I didnt realise that when it came to f2 mode I wouldnt be able to swing the camera around the aircraft. I just remapped them again and everything was back to normal.

Whoa cowboy, leatherneck didnt get a penny of that 15,000, they decided to complete the sim by themselves after beczl left, beczl is the one you paid. leatherneck is a new group who formed after beczl left and please be assured by me when I say this, if you are an original backer, leatherneck sims will honor you by giving you a key even though they are totally entitled not to since in theory you didnt pay them a penny, they are a totally different group than beczl sims who was the group you originally backed on indiegogo. So chill out, if you backed them you will get a key, trust me, Leatherneck Sims have been extremely generous to me when they could of said tough, thats nothing to do with us. Patience is a virtue.

OP has his at 4x which i think is nuts in dcs. Another tip, disable antivirus, as some antivirus run background scans all the time when you open or write new files, that initself can cause major slowdowns. In my dcs I have all settings at high, clutter/bushes 9000 odd, preload 3/4 the way up, birds 100, 1920x1200 res, hdr normal, msaax2 In my video drivers I have AFx16, gamma aa enabled, override AA and set that for 2, also set msaa for 2, high quality, clamp and vsync enabled along with the one above it, cant recall what it is but its for opengl games only. Thats the major settings in my video drivers and the game is installed on one of my ssd's and its sweet as a nut, but i wouldnt set 4xmsaa or 4xssaa as that would probably kill it for me
-
Turn msaa down to two, your pc is slightly better than mine and I dont have low fps and I have clutter/bushes up at 9000 and resolution of 1920x1200. I would suggest to the OP to turn MSAA down to 2, you wont probably notice the difference graphical wise but hopefully will fps wise.

Me too, took me ages to figure out how to fire the guns, pushing the 1-2-3 buttons did the trick :) Love the afterburner effects, here i was zooming about with the after burner off but looking in the back of the engine it had this perfect glow and when you go full AB then disable it you get a nice puff of smoke, brilliant, only thing was, all this zooming about with AB on I quickly ran out of fuel, soooooo coool, a deadstick landing has never felt so good, even though I did blow up :/ Thanks alot LNS, this aircraft is gunna take alot of studying, I can already tell in the mere 20 minutes that I sat in the thing that it is extremely feature rich and the manual will need careful studying before I try and fly it properly. Great job 5 stars all round

I have seen a good few documentaries about the korean air wars and it was said in most if not all that G suits were only worn by the UN side. The north koreans/russians/chinese supposedly did not wear them at all, plus the russians were not allowed to fly their migs out to or near the sea whilst chasing sabres incase they got shot down and captured, they were strictly forbidden from going anywhere near the sea.

Thanks for pointing that out derelor. I am glad its a bug and not something I was doing wrong :) Edit Its fixed with the new patch today.

How do I disable the missle buzzer tone when I deselect missile and select guns instead, as the buzzer sound remains turned on and its really annoying to use a missile and to then switch back to guns but still having the missile buzzer/tone screaming in my ears, it sounds like the aim9 tone in the f15. How can I disable it because at present I dont know how or know if its a bug as I would of presumed switching the dial back to guns would of stopped it, also the tone volume dial on the top left of the pit doesnt turn it up or down, maybe thats for something else entirely I dunno, but can someone please tell me how I can turn off or disable the missile buzzer noise when not using missiles. Thanks in advance. Great sim btw

Yea I agree, it looks as though LNS have done an outstanding job making dcs mig 21 bis judging by the videos that I've seen, am itching to fly this thing. Personally I think this will rival or even beat dcs A10C when it comes to complexity and systems intergration. I just love how the radar system works, ground clutter, meteorological interference, this is what I have been wanting from dcs for years. I mainly like jet aircraft from the 50s- 70s era and the way the radar systems worked then before look down shoot down radars emerged with computer processing that made clutter more or less a thing of the past. I think LNS have done a top job on this release.
