Lol, thats one way of looking at it. -
Yea Ultra HD is 4k-8k size, basically its the new name that we will be using instead of saying we have HD tv's now, we will be saying we have UHD tv's. Although some japanese firm NHK made a 8k screen and they said its so clear and detailed that it makes 3d useless, they also said that the human eye cant discern anymore detail than roughly 8k, so they think that 8k screens will be the limit. But supposedly the screens are so clear that you can walk right upto them and see incredibly small details. Cant wait for 4k to become mainstream. http://ajw.asahi.com/article/economy/technology/AJ201306140093

how not to get shot down / intermediate steps
bumfire replied to Geezuz's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You can even eject and jump into a uaz and go for a drive instead, all whilst keeping your feet on the ground, better yet, turn on invincibility and you can drive your jet all over the map :) Lots of fun to be had on the ground. -

How not to get shotdown. Easy, dont take off and you cant be shot down. -

Planes can fly to the side of the clouds and scan obliquely or they can fly under the clouds aslong as the clouds were high enough, some clouds are higher than passenger jet cruising altitudes so a stealthy fast recon plane could easily fly just slightly below the clouds so long as it was going fast as G2A missiles are practically useless against aircraft travelling at greater than mach3, sr71 demonstrated that. Also plane based optical cameras give a better resolution picture than any sattelite can. Being able to read a newspaper from a space sat ( which is one of the most common misconceptions about spy sats ) is pure hollywood bs, but with a plane with high grade optics its a very real possibility to read the large print headlines from one. Ok sats are good for certain things, but for different targets they have to change orbit which takes time and wastes the precious little amounts of fuel carried on these things. USA Having a secret plane that has taken over the sr71s job is a cert, heck they still use the U2 for intel gathering. I personally believe they have a stealthier faster flying version either already in service or on the drawing board or being tested, whether its manned or a drone is another matter altogether, why do I believe you may ask ? Because america isnt dumb when i comes to aircraft and intelligence. Basically, it would be extremely dumb of america to of not replaced the sr71 with something else and it would be dumb to think that they only use satellites to do the job now. Both planes and sats complement each other and I cant see the US intel agencies just dropping air intel and replacing it with intel purely from space based satellites, especially when its known that planes had the better optical resolution and much clearer photos compared to the sats. As i said earlier, I don't know if their is an actual aircraft thats classed as the aurora, it could of been a cover for the b2 for all i know, but I do believe that their is some type of sr71 replacement, if their wasn't the sr71s would still be flying just like their older brother the U2.
-
Not sure about an aurora perse, but their is definitely a stealth spy plane flying about, as space spy sats are not as clear as air based spy planes and sats cant see through cloud to get a good picture unless it uses radar or some other trick which wont give you the resolution of an optical air based spy plane, thus for the foreseeable future air based spy planes will still be needed. Imho, their is something out there as spy sats are just not that great for doing certain jobs.

B2s can go over mach one, well only when they blow up :helpsmilie:

Su25/t does'nt have reset trim, some other aircraft do but the 25s do not, all manual i am afraid.

Great song, although the video could be a nike advert. but it is a great tune.

To post the youtube videos, do it like this if you want. type then on the youtube video that you are viewing copy everything after the = in the url like this =mD9Ma3KnOYg then put [/ YOUTUBE] at the end no spaces at all anywhere, I had to add a space between / and Y or you wouldnt see the command, you would just see an empty white box. it should then look like mD9Ma3KnOYg[/ YOUTUBE] but minus the space between / and Y if done correctly you end up with this.

DD, when will this be available ? Any rough estimates or is it a case of, "it'll be ready when it's ready". I cant wait to get my hands on another tank sim. Cheers
-
I was just wondering if anyone knows, is Steel Beasts worth buying now ? Or is it too old of a game/sim to justify spending 100 bux on in 2013. So is it still worth buying or would it be better to forget about it now ?

74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' to close shop. 'An ode'
bumfire replied to Heli Shed's topic in Multiplayer
I dont know you or have never spoken to you on the forums, but some of your points regarding ED and its future path strike a chord with me. As for No you no 74th. Well as I said, I dont know you or havent spoken to you but, one man does not make a squad. Why, if they still? want to play dcs can they not carry on without your continual guidance for the time being ? someone could take over the reigns albeit on a temp basis or even have a few ppl in control or every few months the reigns are handed to someone else int he squad so that everyone gets involved with the day to day running of the squad. I know that being completely involved in something wears thin and time off is needed, why not close down for six months to a year and come back ? and in the meantime those who are still in the wing can continue doing whatever they wish to do. If you have got 4 years worth of time in this sim then you WILL comeback, I dont know anyone who hasnt got sick of lockon and its successors to some degree or another and binned it for a few months to a year and then came back. Anyway, I dont know you or any of your squad mates and dont know how they feel about this whole situation, so whatever happens now and in the future i wish you the best of luck. -
Request to unbind FC3 from my login ID
bumfire replied to Wang Han's topic in Payment and Activation
Try loggin into the dcs website with the username wang han and then try wanghan, just use the same password and goto the myserial page and check to see if your fc3 serial is attached to any of those login names. Try it and see if that works as that happened to me and I had to use a different username to the one I originally signed up to the dcs website with. So try wang han and then wanghan when logging in and see if your serial is in one of those two accounts. -
Nice video, but for some reason it wont let me rep you :(

Cant wait for the f18 to be released.
-
I would be happy if it was locked down to FC3 only, but it wont be as FC3 is now apart of dcs world. Its just wrong is all am saying, modules like that should only be allowed in a standalone FC3 type version or even FC4 and not be apart of dcs world. Thats all I am saying.
-
Next we will end up with the Starship Enterprise as a DCS module with the way this is going. Basically, why model aircraft that are so highly classified that it's likely that the info regarding its systems and performance will never be released in our lifetime. Personally, I see no need for the F35 as a dcs module or any other aircraft similar to it until the vast majority of the info is available to the public so that it can be modelled correctly, as I foresee dcs airquake part deux in the near future due to new dcs modules that have the performance of ufo's.

Yes the friction wheel at the top of the warthog throttle doesnt have any axis and doesnt do anything ingame, but the inc-dec lever, the big grey thing that sticks out on the throttle is also for friction, well its used to set friction on the real warthogs throttle, but I use it for zooming in and out. Basically if you were sitting in a real warthog aircraft, the black friction wheel at the top of our warthog throttles isnt there, the grey inc-dec lever does that job instead and is also named friction. Slight confusion, but basically the grey lever is also called friction increase - decrease, just that thrustmaster didnt label like it is in the real aircraft as they probably thought two things named "friction" on one throttle would confuse people, so they left it as inc-dec and omitted the word friction that runs vertically next to it. I was assuming that was the friction axis that you was speaking about.
