Yup, Hover too long and chances are something bad will happen to one or more engines and ignoring the ekran whilst flying in icy conditions and not having ice protection enabled is very likely to end up in tears, both examples are well known to cause the pilot grief. The first time I experienced the hovering too long problem, I couldnt understand wtf just happened, but since then I tried it a few times and hovering too long definetly does cause problems simply because as you know the engines are working massive overtime to keep the helo airborne whilst in a hover and prolonging a hover for a long time isnt healthy.

Yea, I would LOVE much more different types of failures to be implemented in the sim, the computer failures that is listed in the manual but are not implemented really is needed, basically I would like a whole host of other types of failures to be implemented, as although the sim is great, it is SADLY lacking in the failures dept. I know we have the same failures as we had in lockon, but that really isnt enough given this sims expansive controls. We need much more electronic failures and a more indepth intergrated failure system in the helicopter/sim fullstop as what we have now just isnt enough as its always the same failures that crop up after getting attacked, now I am sure many more systems could fail which would give the virtual pilot a better experience. I am hopeful that the failure list grows with later expansion packs or even patches.

You paid an arm and a leg for shipping in the states ? I gave the other arm and leg for shipping in the Uk, they charged I think 7 or 8 quid if I recall, I cant recall the exact price but the postage stamps on the parcel only amounted to £4, and I think I paid a total of £27, 19.99 for manual and the rest on shipping, 19.99 + 4 or 4.50 doesnt amount to £27/28 I dont mind really, but it would be best to make it not so obvious to customers that what they are paying for shipping isnt exactly what shipping costs. The manual is great though, just a pity that the spanish release of the game gets it for free albeit in pdf format after ED said they wouldnt be releasing it in pdf format.

Legally they can stop anyone from distributing it once they become aware of it, but you know how these things are, if ed made a mistake by including this manual in the spanish version then it is already out in the wilds and is already too late to stop it from being distributed. It will no doubt show up on www.replacementdocs.com pretty soon if not already, and if it doesnt show its face there like the FC manual did, then it will be shared amongst friends and invariably end up as a torrent. I think most people will agree that even if the extended manual was freely available as a download, they would of still bought the binder version of the manual regardless if it was already available as a free download, mainly because those who bought the manual want a hardback version of the manual instead of in my opinion a stupid pdf file.

Ed must of released it then ?, either deliberatly or they sent the wrong file to the game CD copiers and the manual then found its way onto the dvd. I paid for my manual and tbh, I dont mind if its out there released in pdf format as getting it printed like the way ed has done is gunna eat up tons of paper and ink and if you get it done for you its gunna cost about as much as it costs to buy from ed if not more. No harm in letting people have the proper manual as it really doesnt add anything new to the sim if you ask me so their is no big secret to the manual, its nice to have as an actual book but as a pdf manual I rate it as I rate the original and thats with a zero cuz I hate all pdf manuals simply because I like to play and access a manual at the same time without having to alt+tab in and out of game every 2 seconds :(

The extended paid for manual IS NOT in pdf format as far as I know and ED said they have no intention to do so. So I suspect that the spanish manual is just the same as every other pdf manual, if I recall their is 2 versions of the pdf manual, the first one was replaced by another version that was slightly more upto date if I recall correctly, maybe thats what they mean by extended manual ??? But ED have always denied that they would hand out the paid for binder manual in pdf format and I cant see the spanish version of dcs getting it and noone else, it isnt even on the dcs website as a free download, so I think the extended manual you speak of is the second version of the pdf manual that was made to clear up some errors and bring the manual slightly more upto date.

Ah, well that explains it then, I always did wonder why they chose to not have mp3 access. Looks like Wav and OGG will have to do.

SCRIPTING BROADCASTING RADIO STATION PROGRAMS. Can we get the game to support MP3 filetypes ? as converting a entire folder of music files for a radio station to play in OGG or WAV is just downright crazy. I have 20 songs in my radio station already and the size is about 600mb and thats cut down size from 44khz to 22khz and changed from mp3 to wav. The game REALLY does need mp3 if its to have something of a decent radio station playback capability.

I would prefer it if they released a huey vietnam model gunship or the blackhawk gunship that has cannon and miniguns pointing forward, but all I can really say is "SEND ME A HUEY" :megalol: DCS needs a fixed wing aircraft for it to become a true success and they need it NOW.

For problem number 3, are you sure you have placed the service units within 100metres squared of the FARP ? I presume you will have and it probably is a bug, but if they arent within 100m they wont work. I havent bothered with advanced map making as yet because I havent got the time to re-adjust everything 100 times to make sure they line up ingame as they are in the mission editor. I cant wait for ed to fix the map problems and add the sat view back

First, go into your windows control panel, then goto system icon then if you have vista or xp click on advanced system settings and then click on the advanced tab and at the bottom of that you will see startup and recovery, click on the settings button, in there under system failure untick automatically restart, so the next time you get the blue screen error, it wont auto reboot on you and you will be able to tell us what info is displayed in the error and that will help us narrow down the problem. Usually the info contained in the blue screen error will pinpoint what has caused the error in the first place, so next time it happens, write down what the error is and post it and usually it will put you on the right track to a fix. No point in speculating what the problem could be, as it could be a million things ranging from bad software to bad hardware, so I wont speculate until you post what the error says.

I get these vertial lines in blackshark also :( Thought they would of been fixed by the time BS was released, but I have grown used to them now.

I gotta agree that some flight videos on the net could of been so much better had they moderated the amount of music in them or even replaced the music entirely. Most of the flight vids that are on the net all seem to suffer from Heavy metal syndrome, where the video is infected with large and loud doses of heavy metal music, I personally cant stand them but thats just personal preference. Music does have its place in videos as the right type of music accompanying a video can turn a mediocre video into a great video, but most videos take it too far with the crazy loud music and basically spoil it, if I come across a loud heavy metal video of say lockon, 9 times out of 10 i will either mute it or have the volume uber low asto not hear the music. I am not saying their is anything wrong with having music in videos, far from it, but it has to be done right and thats where most video makers seem to fail.

Do you have TIR5 hardware ? If so use the TIR5 software, because just the other day when I re-installed Lockon, I COULD NOT get centre view to work with trackir 5 hardware and trackir 4 software. I had to reinstall buggy trackir 5 beta software for centre view to work for me in lockon, maybe this is the same problem you are suffering from but in blackshark instead of lockon ? Also in vista make sure you run trackir and the game as admin, do it via right clicking on the shortcuts and selecting compatibilty and then select run as administrator. TBH, I think if you have trackir5 hardware, the reason you cant centre view is because you are using trackir4 software probably, as that was the reason that I couldnt centre view in lockon, I had to use trackir5 hardware with trackir 5 beta software in order for centre view to work properly in some games, however Blackshark was not one of them. Even if you dont have tir5 hardware, try using the tir5 software beta version and see if that helps, also reset the game to default controls so that your not having conflicts mapping buttons that are used ingame. BTW, page up and page down are used for throttle controls ingame, unless you have changed them manually in the game control section.

have you set the blackshark game profile to the same profile that you are using ? as by default, the game profile for blackshark is set to the "default" profile and that probably wont be what you need for ingame thus the correct profile wont load when the game starts. the profile that works outside of the game for you, set that profile so that it starts with blackshark in the profile list and also tick the exclusive box just to see if that works. Also if possible, take screenshots of ALL of the settings that you have in tir and also in the game profile list take a screenshot that includes the blackshark game profile so that we can see what settings you are using, which should make it much better for us to be able to help you.

Have you made sure that you are running trackir as administrator ? I had problems with Lockon just yesterday, I reinstalled it and for the love of me I couldnt get tir5 to centre view, it didnt work with tir5 and tir4 software, so I went back to buggy 5 and set it to run as administrator and it worked. that being said, centre view works perfect in dcs from the get go without needing to be set as admin, thats what I find and thats on vista 64.

I do this to centre my trackir. I remapped trackir to have keypad 5 as centre view, but ingame numlock must be enabled or tir5 doesnt pick up the command. And I have bound the keypad 5 button to the C button on my x52

I think that when he installed it that it got corrupted or corrupted something, or if he had other skins installed that it maybe clashed with them thus causing that problem. As Ed's xmas skin doesnt or shouldnt cause problems on its own unless when it was being installed corruption happened somewhere, personally I think it was a clash with another skin or mod he "might" of had installed, and only when adding ed's xmas skin did the problem show its face. If I was a betting man I would bet that ed's xmas skin is not the cause but another skin or mod is and only when they are combined does the problem arise. Then again I could be totally wrong :)

I dont think the ME will be fixed in the patch, as I recall reading that too much work is needed to get the ME exactly matching the game world, so I suspect that the earliest we will see a proper fix for object placement is when DCS comes out with the next addon, I really cant see it being fixed in the upcoming patch and however much that I pray that it will be, I just dont think it will due to lack of time.

Yup, some 3rd party skins cause you to kill yourself when you fire rockets, its solely a skin problem as everyone that I have read that had that problem also installed some skins and removing the skin/s ALWAYS fixed the problem.
