  1. cool! thanks, which file is it?
  2. Are there any plans to fix this in the next Beta release? I was about to raise a bug but found this thread which indicates it's a known issue: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=212876&highlight=ALE+47 It is rather annoying to have to set up manual profiles in the air, one of the first things I do in the A10C is to setup countermeasure profiles on the ground just before takeoff. It certainly helps if you're straight into a hostile environment.
  3. If it helps I did a short video on attaching a BUK (SA11) site a few years ago, it goes into why you should use mark point on the targeting pod and using terrain masking for attacking SAM sites. Also be aware you can avoid pretty much any SAM if you use countermeasures and manoeuvring correctly. Chaff and an immediate 90-degree turn perpendicular to the threat works wonders. I used to practise "playing" with SAMS in this way, especially radar guided ones.
  4. Agree totally, I'm in the same boat as you having just returned after a sabbatical and do remember the conversations around a dedicated server version. The situation does appear to have improved somewhat since those days in terms of stability but.... being able to run a server headless remotely would open up more game server solutions such as cheap hosted solutions...
  5. Hi everyone... I was just wondering how people were finding flying FA 18 approaches using the Alpha indicator. It's rather a new thing for me as I'm used to basing approaches on airspeed Vref. It's taking me a while to get the hang of looking at the "E" indicator in the HUD and not looking at the airspeed. The concept is obvious and is how most fast jet pilots are trained but it's totally different than small AC GA flying. I remember asking a Tornado pilot what the approach speeds where for Tornado's and his reply was "We just look at Alpha, don't pay much attention to airspeed"
  6. As an aside, VEAO have just gone bust and ceased trading, no more updates for the Hawk I suspect, a bit of a waste of money IMHO
  7. I've hosted 8 players on an i5 4670k with only 16 GB memory fine, slightly faster but not an awful lot of difference. As said previously, depends on the scripts you have running and the amount of AI.
  8. Hi Phil, I'd be happy to accompany you in some online shenanigans, I'm new to the Hawk myself but have been "around" DCS for some years, I'm on a metered connection so would not host a server, there are plenty out there though or you could host yourself. I'm based in Germany so only one hour difference and also fly evenings when I can. PM me and we can set something up.
  9. Agreed, CCIP and CCRP is something I got used to in the A10C, not having it in the F5 is a drag and rather discourages me from any serious AG action. It's a "purists" aeroplane though and I find myself flying it more than my new FA-18 at the moment, probably because I'm too lazy to learn all the systems... ;) at the moment...
  10. I wouldn't say the F5 is the best but It's a useful aircraft to have in your stable. I've had years of fun with the A10c and appreciate the full modelling of all the systems.
  11. I've just returned to DCS after a 3 year break, I must say the F5 is giving me loads of fun and is a great student platform for AA skills. I was predominantly a mud mover on the A10c previously and used to run away when confronted with anything more than a helo.... well anything really... I'm also training on the new FA 18 but have a way to go before I'm anywhere near proficient, the F5 definitely teaches you to preserve energy and I've already taken out a couple of F18 's on various MP servers. Just being positive, good job on this module. :)

    Whats changed?

Yep, I bought the Hawk way back and wasn't that impressed although it was an early version... IMHO. Mirage I also have already, can't remember if it was a PFM though, I've decided to stick with PFM modules from now on.

    Whats changed?

Hello everyone, It's been over 2 years since I've "played" DCS, after catching a glimpse of the F18 and upcoming Tomcat, I dusted off my rig and spent the next week trying to get it back in a playable state. I'm basically wondering what's changed and which new modules to shell out my well earned cash on.... So I've purchased the F/A 18 and the F5E to add to my stable and also also purchased all the new terrains. I've realized 1.5 has been deprecated and everyone is now on 2.5 which has a new graphics engine. My main question is how are the old beta versions of the Hawk, Mirage etc shaping up and are there any monumental changes in functionality between 1.5 and 2.5 apart from the sweeter more efficient graphics? I could probably go through all the change logs to find out but I can't be a#$%d. Thanks in advance
