How about telling them to attack just one target at a time (not the most efficient solution I know)?

Can someone procuce a tank killing video..
number3 replied to Offlinepilot's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Maybe with 15 wingmen...? -
Tried this out a couple of times and my missiles also landed a few metres behind the target. :fear:

I haven't tried this out with the latest 1.2.6 update 1, but in the original 1.2.6 patch and 1.2.5 this wasn't a problem. I noticed that firing an laser guided missile requires constant adjustment to keep on the target until impact. Personally I use a snap view (because the reticle dot will cover the vehicle and it's hard to see exactly if the dot is right on the vehicle) and constant adjustment of the reticle as I move closer to the target. Can you post a video of this? Or try using a snap view to help keep the reticle right on the target.

Change it to any setting besides off and the IFF warning light will go away

Can someone post a video of this behaviour? I'm at work right now but can watch a video :)
-
It possibly requires that. Seems to be a common requirement when new updates are release.

DCS 1.2.6 Update 1 was released: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1892527&postcount=2 Not sure what "Flexible sight line of sight is now controlled separately from view camera control." means though. Anyone?

Question about tutorials, both in-game and out
number3 replied to guitarxe's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
Thanks for the links. I previously saw the navigation video and yes it's quit helpful. May end up trying the Dragon's training packs. Truthfully for me it's spotting vehicles that gives me a world of difficulty. If the ground colour is dark where the unit contrast colour is minimal then It's extremely hard to find the units unless you know exactly where to look. Or sometimes I'll find a unit because I see the tracer fire, pull an evasive maneuver because I need to properly line up a shot or avoid being hit, then when I turn around again I've lost sight of the unit and only have an idea where they are until the fire at me again. I love flying this bird, but man spotting units in dark terrain is fracking hard! -
As per your wish, the template has been released. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1890674#post1890674

Great game, but I have a few questions...

You may be able to squeeze out a couple or more frames if you use the point tracker module for FactTrackNoIr as it is the least CPU intensive of the tracker modules http://sourceforge.net/p/facetracknoir/wiki/PointTracker/ -
Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2

So does this mean we'll never have a season sale for a product that came out only 2 weeks prior? Maybe it's just me, but everybody loses out on this one. -

It's a temporary sale to get people involved. If you paid full price because you can afford it, wanted to support the developers or wanted to get your hands on it early, then you got your money's worth. It was within your budget, you supported the developers (though any purchase supports the developers) and you got your hands on the module early. There is no better way to get new customers into a market than by lowering the price. Guaranteed those same customers (who enjoy the product) will purchase more modules. I'm certain that if ED didn't see this strategy as profitable or beneficial, then wouldn't do it so often. -
Haha, I was hoping/routing that you would manage to shoot them down. Run and hide it is then :)

That's partly what message boards are for. To assist people is getting up to speed. I'm sure may of us have posted questions that have been answered before (myself included). People will master it. They just need to be put in the right direction. -
Pre-patched mission attempt: I tried this mission last night with no luck. The insurgents just love shooting your right engine. For some reason the right engine won't complete it's startup. And when I start the left engine first then rotate the helo so that the insurgents are shooting at my tail, I still get hit in the right engine and can't take off with enough power.

This is great! On multiple occasions I almost pulled the trigger for the Mi-8MTV2. Now I can afford the module and contribute to DCS WWII. -
I read that about the Alert mission recently, where it is night time. In BS1 there was no ground fire hitting you and you could gingerly start up the helo and get out of there. I'm currently on that mission for BS2 (haven't tried it yet). I haven't downloaded the fix yet. Going to see just how quickly I can get her in the air. For mission 3 (the bunker destroying one), I didn't bother going in after destroying the bunkers. I just hovered there (I was honestly waiting for the guy to tell me to roll in and support them) and after an explosion and some smoke the ground commander said thanks for the support. :music_whistling:

Yeah I noticed it. From the video a couple of rockets landed where they were "supposed", the rest strayed. I guess the only other way to be more accurate is to increase your dive angle and speed. Similar to setting up for a dive bomb run. I just completed mission 4 yesterday. Not much to do in that one other than to locate the bunkers and keep out of range of the AAA. Next mission is Alarm and from what another user said it sounds like you have to be quick with the startup routine. So that will be fun to try again. Hopefully I can pass Mission 8 though, sounds like it's still the problem child I experience in BS1. Been flying some missions online too, a lot of fun.

lol, it would seem so. If I recall, my attempts at firing Vikhrs at the hinds would always miss. Though, I think it's possible to manually fire the Vikhrs and guide it at the target. If you do manage to pass it, let me know what you ended up doing, because I'll be on that mission in a few days.
-
I also had a world of difficulty completing that mission for BS1, never ended up passing it and put down BS1 because of RL. Recently got BS2 and I was hoping there were some improvements (or it was just easier to pass). EDIT: I just found this though http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3505902/Black_Shark_2_Deployment_Missi.html#Post3505902

Even more cool. Thanks for posting the video highlights. Is your payload the default payload for that mission? I'm surprised they didn't give one of you guys a laser guided missile. Firing rockets from that range is spray and pray. I'm doing the deployment campaign for the KA-50 right now. I completed about half the missions in that campaign back in the BS1 days, but it's fun to do it more proficiently.
-
Speaking of rain. When a helicopter is running and it rains, do the rain droplets hit the canopy and obscure vision? The KA-50 and UH-1H have wiper blades, the former has working blades. But I'm wondering if rain droplets just aren't modeled hitting the canopy or while the rotor is spinning the droplets don't touch the glass.

Flight Engineer - is he necessary? :o)
number3 replied to Flagrum's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
lol, wow! Sounds like the supermodel is more useful than the flight engineer. -
Good job. I quite enjoyed the read. Makes me want to get back into the frogfoot. But I'm bent on becoming proficient with the shark again and passing the campaigns. Anyway, keep it coming.
