  1. So much better than the Huey theme song. I love the Huey wallpaper but can't stand the music. Is there a way of changing it to something of your own liking?
  2. As others have said get rudder pedals. I can't imagine flying (mostly landing) the Huey with a twist as my rudder controls. I've been wanting to upgrade my old x45, but the the twist rudder has steered me clear of it. The x45 has a rudder rocker switch under the throttle, so it's easier to control in my opinion.
  3. I remember doing that mission in BS1 and you never get hit. You only see explosions around the FRAP. I recently bought BS2 and I am hoping to get back into the campaign. Glad to hear it Is still fun.
  4. I too have noticed this as well. During the startup, gradually increasing the throttle does nothing until I get to maximum throttle. I have not mapped my throttle to anything, I simply use the mouse scroll to achieve this. Also I have not cleared and re-loaded the default key profiles. Not sure if that is the solution or not.
  5. Besides, you'll probably map your most used functions to your HOTAS or joystick. When you're in the heat of a dogfight, I doubt you'll spend the time to look down, find your switch and use your mouse to toggle it. At the end of the day you'll have a lot of animated buttons and switches that you'll only make use of during start up and flying the flight plan. I too love full immersion but developer resources aren't unlimited and they have priorities. At this point you'll have to rely on partners or 3rd parties to implement clickable cockpits or if we're lucky DCS will get the needed funds to spend time and resources making a fully clickable cockpit. For me the most important thing is that the flight model is simulated well.
  6. Downloaded FaceTrackNoIR using the pointTracker plug-in and it works quite well. I find that the head movement is a bit smoother than I was able to achieve with FreeTrack. Two thumbs up!
  7. Just took at look at their webpage, the installation looks quite simple. Are there any files that need to be overwritten in the DCS directories in order to make it work with DCS? I'm still using freetrack, but interested in trying out how smooth FaceTrackNoIR is. My current setup is not too bad and pretty smooth. But when compared to someone using TrackIR, I start to drool.
  8. Not certain, I imagine it wouldn't hurt to get all of the BS1 upgrades, but found a couple of posts that might help. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=112452&highlight=upgrade http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1853674&postcount=2
  9. These kinds of sales and price drops happen so often (especially since Steam entered the scene) that it's hard to be upset over it. When it happens to me (it's happened to me for every module now except BS2 and P-51) I get bummed out for a little bit then I'm over it, because something good will come out of it, by getting new users into the game. That's more people who will be flying around in your favourite aircrafts in multi-player Introducing new blood into the DCS products will bring about people with new ideas and maybe even come up with better ideas for missions and campaigns. Without the sales I simply couldn't afford to get all of these modules at once. And I feel that DCS (or ED) knows this, so they put these modules on sale; and know that people will be more likely (willing) to play full price for a module to support them after having paid dirt cheap prices. To be honest I was more upset when BS2 came out and they had BS1 players pay to upgrade to BS2. Lastly, remember all of the learning, enjoyment and friends you've made so far playing these modules. If you were to buy these modules only when the steam sale happened, you would be a newbie again and wouldn't be griping about it.
  10. For now you have to press the HOME key to start your engine. I was stuck on this for a while yesterday.
  11. I too am in a similar boat as you. I previously purchased all of my modules through the DCS site. I recently bought 2 modules off of the Steam sale. What I ended up doing was only obtaining the serial key from the steam bought modules, downloaded the modules from the DCS site and when I launched the game input the serial keys when prompted. Here are the steps I took: * Bought modules off of steam site * Looked in my steam library, saw DCS world, clicked on install (or play now). ** NOTE: I already had DCS world installed on my machine, but when I right clicked on the DCS world row, I didn't see the option to get the keys * Once the download started, I right clicked on the DCS world row and selected the 'get keys' menu (I can't remember the exact terminology * Copy and pasted the keys into a text editor * Paused the steam download * Closed steam * Downloaded the modules I bought off of the DCS site and installed * Loaded up a mission for the modules and input my keys when prompted So far so good!
  12. Same here. I got around it by mousing over the throttle, scrolling down until is no longer rotates right. The you press the throttle stop button (located in the lower right hand corner of the collective controls box), then mouse over the throttle again and scroll down until it stops rotating right. The next part of the training sequence will kick in. It will highlight the 'throttle stop' button and tell you to start up the engines. However this does not work. You have to press the HOME button (I was unable to find the engine start button). Once the engines are running, the next part of the training never kicks in unfortunately. Though I suspect that that was the last step in the training.
  13. Thank goodness you guys are posting all this info. How are you guys figuring all of this out? My only gripe is that these changes/instructions are not documented except within a post in this thread which will contunue to grow.
  14. Can you post your settings for freetrack? That 30 zoom smoothing multiplier sounds like something that I've been trying to figure out.
  15. I'm all for this improvement as well. Assigning a pause button to TrackIR is a good idea. Though I use freetrack, anyone know if there is a similar function?
  16. Great work Belsimtek team! Couldn't wipe the smile off my face when watching that video.
  17. Track? What is your speed and your dive angle? Acute your dive angle is to the ground, the more your rockets will stray from the projected impact point. I would suggest trying a steeper dive angle to increase your accuracy.
  18. PeterP that is one hell of an amazing setup. :worthy: Do you use freetrack or TrackIR?
  19. Never knew the mission didn't require the destruction of the entire platoon. I too felt the default mission payload was not adequate, some forums users said that I should use my wingman who is armed with laser guided missiles, but I don't know how to tell him to attack the mission objective without attaching AAA or other vehicles in the area. Now that I know I don't have the entire platoon this mission has become a lot easier. I still feel there should be some kind of indication that the entire platoon does not need to be destroyed; and it's just plain silly (or incomplete) that there is no indication.
  20. I feel for ya. I too got back into the DCS sims after hearing about the summer sale and the 6DOF cockpits and was a disappointed that the trainers for the aircraft weren't as polished as the A-10C module. However, the trainers are sufficient to get you going with the basics as the key commands haven't changed much. You can't take control at any point, but you can create a mission that has the same components, as the training scenarios are quite simple. Once you have the commands for the basics, it's just a matter of putting it into practice to become more fluid with it. The A-10C trainer has nice icons to indicate which switches and knobs to turn. None of the FC3 aircraft have clickable cockpits; so you remove the nice visuals from the equation and you are essentially just watching a video. I started playing the Su-25 campaign, couldn't pass the first mission, when and created a simplified mission based off of the campaign mission and kept playing it over and over again, until I felt comfortable. I still haven't passed the first mission of the campaign (yes it's sad), but I'm getting better at it. My problem is that I can't figure out how to tell my wingman to use his missiles to kill the mission target. Instead he goes off and kills whatever he sees first, leaving me with rockets to take out IFVs that shoot at me when I get a good solution to fire rockets at them.
  21. I've pretty much gotten the hang of it. The only time I get caught up in it is when I try to land quickly at a specific spot. But just getting the bird on the ground isn't too much of a problem. I still have trouble with a smooth approach without yaw or keeping the bird straight. But I can eventually land it where I 'd like to and make my co-pilot shit his pants :pilotfly:
  22. I am flying the su 25. So no anti tank missile racks like the su 25t. I will try looking through the radio commands more closely. Because I can lock on to anything to tell him to attack my target I am not sure he will know what to attack
  23. I'm frying the first mission for the SU-25 campaign and I'm tasked ti take out what looks like 6 mbt and some air defenses as part of a convoy. But I'm having trouble taking out mbt as they take quite a few hits for me to destroy them. The default payload for the mission is 4 laser guided missiles, 2 cluster bombs and a pair of rockets. Should this payload be enough to take out the convoy? Or is there another ideal payload for taking out mbts with the SU-25? (other than cannons)
