KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
Tehrawk replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Like I said before, your start up procedure couldn't be better! I am trying to do the weapons employment, but I have a very minor problem. I use 3 monitors with Eyefinity. I had to alter a file to allow me to zoom out far enough in the cockpit. Or else I have a very restricting view. All people who have multiple monitors have to do this. Somehow this particular mission overwrites this, and I am left with the default zoom value. Though this is really a minor problem, for the sake of a tutorial anyway. -
KA-50 Blackshark Abreviated Cold Start
Tehrawk replied to BigfootMSR's topic in User Created Missions General
Just got around to trying this mission. It really is the best way to learn the start up procedure. I like how concise it is. Once you run through it a few times, and you start anticipating the next steps, it will take roughly five minutes or so to get through it. A great way to learn, and a great way to refresh your memory, for people like me who have been away from the sim for a while. I would love to have navigation and weapons deployment missions done in this manner. Also I agree with PeterP, this has to be included in the next patch! -
Triple-head/Multi-Monitor GUI and NVG Fix
Tehrawk replied to PeterP's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
This is fantastic, makes a huge difference for me. Briefings are a pleasure to view now. But the biggest plus is the display of mission text on one screen. Cheers PeterP. -
It was a night of firsts for anyone who attended. It was the first time live stream was used in such a manner for training. The first time the seasoned vets on the server seen so many Sharks in the air. And the first time I have gotten such professional and easy to understand instruction, for completely free! Not only does Tyger know what he is talking about. But he is able to present it, in an easy to understand, easy to follow manner. Not a lot of people can do that, especially while trying to maintain a heading in a Black shark. Let alone perform some tricky manoeuvres. One of the first things Tyger said during the training session, is something along the lines of. Some people tend to jump straight into combat, ignore a completely fundamental part of the sim, and as a result, get completely disillusioned with the game. Well this rang through for me. Thankfully this problem I didn't even know I had, has been completely rectified by Tyger. Now instead of attempting, and failing, the campaign missions when I fire up Black Shark. I will be practicing my hammerheads, funnels and break 180's. Really, if you have any reservations about attending any future events, just don't. An hour into the session, and just 30 minutes in the cockpit. The runway looked like a complete disaster area. There were no judgements when someone crashed. Just hop in another chopper, and try again. It wasn't expected that people learn the techniques there and then. Just have a better understanding of them, so that you could practice them in your own time. Which is one of the most valuable things I will take away from the session, an achievable goal. It goes without saying, but needs to be said, thanks Tyger!

CYBORG EVO FORCE FEEDBACK PC FLIGHT STICK
Tehrawk replied to JimMack's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
As far as I know, the Evo uses a spring to centre it. So when you trim, you will still need to let go of the stick. -
FreeTrack will work in a similar way. For free. You can use reflective dots instead of LED's. Can you get 6DOF to work with Cachya in BS?

There are a number of things which are better assigned in game. Such as zoom and collective. As WynnTTr has said, check the Axis Commands, you can reach it from the drop down menu in the controller config screen.

Wow, this has got to be the dumbest thing I've seen on this forum. At least since that whole push/pull throttle thing.
-
Oh cool, Ill give that a shot. I'm not too worried about the Deployment campaign, if I don't get dynamic mission selection its OK. The campaign seems pretty linear anyways.

Ugh, I've had this happen to me twice, so bloody annoying.

Help with X52. Can't setup zoom on slider
Tehrawk replied to murdoc311's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The slider is perfect for zooming. Unfortunately the constant moving of the camera when its assigned will completely wreck your head. -
For a while I was cursing my wingmen for clipping me. Then I realised it was because of the way I was manoeuvring. High rpm plus sharp turns at high speed was causing the rotors to intersect and destroy themselves. Maybe this is what is happening to you? I cant help with your monitor setup, I haven't had great success with it myself.

If the game is given a more favourable and honest review. That will generate more interest. There is a good chance people will become curious of how it is to actually fly one of these military machines. I know I first became interested in PC games, back when I had a 486, because of all the reviews in magazines about all those realistic simulations. I just had to know what it was like to play such a thing.

Have to agree with MBot. I was just about to post the same thing. I would rather see this discussion taken to off topic.

Sorry if this has been posted already. I did a few searches but I didn't see anything. http://ptyxiouxos.net//greekbotics/user_projects/Flight_Simulator/thanos_home_motion_flight_simulator.htm This is a motion simulator based on the old JoyRider plans (http://www.acesim.com/main.html). The guy has added windscreen wiper motors and his own pc interface to drive the motion. The components are cheap and readily available. The main materials are PVC pipe and mechano type strips of metal. It looks complex, but if you look into his walkthrough of the construction you will see its surprisingly easy. The interface is on his site as well. You just need to print out the circuit board and solder the required components. Few choice youtube videos: LiveForSpeed:- This one is good, as it shows some of the latest features to be added. Lots more shaking and "turbulence" to the motions. F16:- This video shows the ranges of the simulator. IMO this thing would be ideal for Black Shark. I'm going to start on mine during the summer, I cant bloody wait.:pilotfly:

Saitek, new beta 2 software (10th Feb)
Tehrawk replied to Tehrawk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah that could work. Thanks a lot S@uDepp I really appreciate it, its been annoying the hell out of me for the last few days. PM sent. -
The training missions are very well made. I looked at the "start up procedure" one a few times. Once I had a good idea I started it again, but I pressed "Esc" and then selected "control". The nice thing is that the instructor will still continue to talk. It made learning the procedure a whole lot easier, having him remind me of what comes next.

Saitek, new beta 2 software (10th Feb)
Tehrawk replied to Tehrawk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Could someone upload the 64bit version to Rapidshare or something similar? I have very unreliable internet. This combined with Saitek's crappy servers means I have wasted the last few days trying to get this file to finish. Transferring through messenger will not work, as it will time out on my end. -
Cant believe how easy this was to set up. Thanks a lot for sharing.
