  1. sorry, but you haven´t understood it. I´m not suggesting taking resources to develop a demo, or build a package with only some functionalities among all that are ready now... or something like that. I´m suggesting to allow it to be downloaded as it is now and call it a "demo". There is no need to divert a significant amount of resources from devopment. ED only have to "deploy" it Should be easy. Maybe 1 day of work? No, again, a demo is not an EA. Demos has existed from the very begining of the computer games. EA versions not. EA are more complex than a demo. A demo usually consist on 1 stage of the game, or 5-15 minutes of gameplay, to allow users to take a first contact with the game. And in this context EA are updated frequently, but a demo don´t. (F-18, F-16, Hind are EA.... I wouldn´d dare to call them a demo) So, the idea is deploy it as it is with no significant cost on resources or time. And leave as it is until the EA is finish. Techically it shouldn´t be a big deal. The cost shouldn´d be a big deal. ED will not have more complains by doing it, posibly they will have less. If ED have another reasons to don´t do it, it´s ok. it is only a sugestion.

First of all, I don't want this thread to turn into a fight between those who prefer to wait and those who prefer to have at least something to play now (and I don't pretent another thread to flame ED either) I only want to offer respectfully a mixed option, that can please both sides of the table. Before explaing what I mean with "DEMO", some points to be considered: 1) Yes, we understand the delay. 2020 and 2021 have been hard years for all of us. Many have lost friends, relatives, had the COVID, etc. (I am an IT project manager myself, and I fully understand your situation) Said that... I don't know, but the product seems enjoyable enough to me, based on testers comments and Wags videos. 2) NO, what I propose it is not the same as the "early access" version. The problem with DCS "early access" is that people have high expectations about EA product. This is because most of the players use Open Beta, many of the products are "early access" for years (and even when they come out "early access" state, they are not finished) and nearly all the learning curve for a new module in DCS is done in EA state. So EA is an euphemism for v1.X and people want EA with a lot of quality. So DEMO is not EA. 3) NO, this is not the same escenario as what happened with F-16 release. IMHO the problem with the F-16 was not about the quality, but the expectations and lack of information before the release. People was expecting at least 80%-90% of the EA "you will have" list achieved, and nobody told different before the release. So, when the EA come out with all the fanfares related with an EA release, many where highly dissapointed. And what is worse, they did not know what to expect in the near future ("having into account other EA rate of updates, is this going to be like this for months, years or what?"). Proof of this is, as a few weeks goes by and they verify that the module was not forgotten but is constantly updated, the complains almost disappear soon. 4) If you prefer to wait for the EA version, just do not download the DEMO. For myself (and I think for many others too) I prefer to have something now to play, enjoy and learn some systems, than wait 2-3 months to have it and spend 1-2 months playing in my spare time to have enough skills to enjoy it. Then, what I propose is allow to download a DEMO for those that have purchased EA: 1) Maintain your timeline. Maintanin that EA discount, maintain Wags demostrative videos, etc. Just give us the posibilitiy to download it (and, please, for STEAM users too. Do not punish us ) 2) Give us a real list of what can be done and not for this DEMO. At the Apache is as it is now, you don't have to guess it and deal with the failure in the expectations when the DEMO is downloaded. "You will be able to fly around, use the head mounted display, gun down targets, use hellfires, hover, crash, use 40% of computerized funcionalities... or whatever" "You will not be able to cold start, buddy lase, use datalink, use multicrew, use AI, damage model is not good so wou will not be killed by missiles, expect close to desktop 50% of the flights... or whatever." 3) Allow it only in single player. Just to avoid nearly-imposible-to-kill Apaches (as happened with the F-16 in MP) 4) Since this is a DEMO, be clear that it will not be updated. Is only a cookie to make us happy while we wait for the "full" EA. This way you'll have both sides of the table "happy" (and those that are not, will not be happy whatever you do). And, even having to change your deadline again because any reason, people were less disapointed because we already will have this "toy" version to play a couple of weeks or months. Please consider it and thanks in advance
  3. hi, you don´t need to unpack the whole thing and re-pack it again. if you are not able to change the mapResources file directly in the zip, alternatively you can: Open the zip in a new window Find the mapResources file in the zip (inside "l10n-> DEFAULT") Drag and drop it into some location of your harddrive, Edit it with notepad++ and add the lines, as is shown in the video. SAVE IT Then, drag and drop from that folder into the zip window again in the same folder where you found it in step one. For the audios, it's quite the same: Open the zip in a new window. Access l10n-> DEFAULT Take all the audio files Drag and drop them into the zip window

  5. I have fixed some bugs and tuned some parameters. Please download the MEP again. For those of you that already have "installed" MEP in your missions, just replace the enhancerScript.lua file with the new enhancerScript_v1_1.lua in the star_mission trigger
  6. In the other hand, take into account that MEP is not a mission "per se". It is something to be added to an existing mission (please, make backup of the original .miz file. If you do the MEP "installation" wrong, you'll be able to star again from scratch ^_^) The mission will work as it worked before adding the MEP, but you'll have the F10 enhance menu, that will allow you to call for support. You can do the mission by yourself using the ME and then add the MEP to "enhance it". Or you can take any other mission done by other users and downloaded from the forums. Or you can add it to a DCS pre-existing mission. (usually you can find them in #MAININSTALLATIONFOLDEROFDCS#\Mods\aircraft\#WHATEVERAIRCRAFT#\Missions) i.e: I have steam version, so I can find my AV-8 pre-existing missions in the subfolders allocated in C:\steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\AV8BNA\Missions But, again, do the MEP changes in the .miz file having the Mission Editor closed. Otherwise the Mission Editor will overwrite the changes done outsite DCS. ^_^ Find some clarifications here:
  7. For those of you that are having problems with the MEP sounds, I believe that you are doing the copy/paste part with the mission opened in Mission Editor. If you do that way, the original mission is "in memory" so, as soon as you save it, the Mission Editor overwrite the changes you have done in map_resource file Check it this other way: 1. Create the mission without MEP 2. Save it and close the Mission Editor 3. Copy the sounds and the changes to the map_resource file (THIS PART MUST BE DONE WITH MISSION EDITOR CLOSED. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!) 4. Open the mission again, add the enhancerScript.lua and save it. 5. changes whatever you want anytime. This time, the sounds and changes to map_resource will not be deleted by the Mission Editor. Hope this help! ^_^
  8. Yes it could be use in multiplayer too. Take into account that, if there are players from red and blue coallition at the same time, it will not work. It is intended to be use in PvE

  10. Yep, I think Steam hace discount coupons that can be applied to some particular products even (i.e: DCS mods) This way, It could be equivalent to the standalone good will gesture and ED can get some aditional unexpected purchases.
  11. Hi AlphaJuliet, I have found it in Soganlug (you can see it in the track) and in Nalchik. No idea if this happens on more theathers or airports, sorry. Happens on cold and hot start from the parking (and I believe that starting on ground happens too). I have notice 2 behaviours: Some times you start to taxi and the wingman don't remove his wheelchocks even. After a while (maybe 5 minutes) they are removed, but once he start to taxi, at one point he get stucked in some "invisible" wall. Other times he start to taxi behind you, but at some point he get stucked too. thanks!

  13. Ah, by the way ED. I'm not refering to sun reflections, I'm refering to the static "reflections" of the pilot's body, parts of the cockpit, etc. ^_^

Yeah, but crashing the aircraft and been killed in the process is realistic IRL too, and I don't see any news like "DCS player kills himself on behalf of realism after crashing his aircraft into the ground." ^_^ Jokes appart, that's the reason why I request an OPTION to remove the reflections. Those of us that apreciate our eyes, will be very happy removing them (especially in VR). Those that prefer realism, could maintain the reflections. Sometimes we must trace a line between realism and comfort.
  15. Hi ED, Should It be possible to make optional the reflections on the cockpit glass, MFD, HUD, etc for all aircrafts? Sometimes they are very annoying and make harder to spot objects or texts (specially in VR) Thanks in advance
  16. Yes, probably with the update the missionscripting.lua file you modified during the first "installation" of the campaign was automatically overwriten. This happens every "major" update of DCS ^_^ You have to comment again the sanitize lines.

  18. Yes, I complete agree with you. It's their product and they can lock whatever they want, when ever they want. But we, as clients, have the right of complaining (with respet) about these decissions taken without having into account a great part of the community, that suffers bad performance of the product in VR. We are not talking here about interfering with the product copyrights, or hacking, or cheating. We are talking about enhancing it (and, for that, we give you thanks modders) If they implement this enhancements in the core. Good If they lock some libraries/folders and allow the modders to improve performance by other means. Good If they lock the libraries/folders and the performance is not improved in VR at the same time. I will complain. If many of us have the same problem and complain about it, they will know it.

  21. Hi, Are you sure that you have bindded the radio menu for the briefing room? This module is like an aircraft (in fact is a rotary aircraft) and the keybindings must be configured independly.
  22. For those that want to use planes or helos that are not among the client slots of A.R.E.A18 missions: You can use DCS mission editor to change the type of the "client" aircrafts in the mission. Just choose the type you want. IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE CURRENT AIRCRAFTS, JUST CHANGE THE TYPE AND PAYLOAD. For changing an aircraft type in random daily missions, edit the following files: ST1_Noche.miz: (night) ST1_tarde_desp.miz: (afternoon) ST1_tarde_nubes.miz: (cloudy afternoon) ST2_Noche.miz: (night) ST2_tarde_desp.miz: (afternoon) ST2_tarde_nubes.miz: (cloudy afternoon) For changing an aircraft type in one particular history mission, edit the following files (where X is the ordinal number of the mission): ST1_Mission_X.miz ST2_Mission_X.miz
  23. For those that are having problem with playing A.R.E.A18 through "campaing" DCS menu: DCS campaign system sometimes doesn't work propertly or the missions get corrupted because reasons. Please, use this workarround: Open and play missions from Mission Editor instead of Campaign menu: 0. For play the Intro: open and play ST0_main.miz (Warning: this will re-start your current financings. 1. For random daily mission: select one of these (they are the same, the only different is the weather or time) a) ST1_Noche.miz: (night) b) ST1_tarde_desp.miz: (afternoon) c) ST1_tarde_nubes.miz: (cloudy afternoon) 2. When you reach certain financings, the mission will tell you that next mission will be history mission (provided you have installed v2.1 or above). Just open and play it ST1_Mission_X.miz (where X is the mission ordinal) Take into account that for now I only Mission1 to Mission8 are playable. I will make more missions in the future. ^_^

IMPORTANT: for those of you that have downloaded and started the campaign, to avoid loose progress, backup the following files. After download the new version and "installed" it, overwrite those 2 files with your backups. ../status/financings.lua ../Area18.cmp Changelog: - The random daily mission will warn you when the mission after the current one will be a history mission.
  25. Not sure what you mean. ^_^ I meant that they start as default, but you can call radio ATC and request turn on/of. Same way as you request "inbound", "taxi", etc
