  1. This last patch really messed things up, for me at least. I kept wondering why my Harrier would start diving toward the ground even though I had autopilot set... kept wondering why the joystick in the cockpit was jumping around even though Windows game controller showed my HOTAS steady as a rock. Well, turns out that the last update set my thumb controllers as pitch and roll, not to mention a slew of other commands with the buttons.Clearing the Oculus control column hopefully cleared this up but I haven't tried it yet as I'm now looking for a solution as to why my FPS has dropped to the mid 20's. Everything was working great before the patch, now it's almost unplayable.
  2. Glad I found this thread. Was planning on buying the Syria map during the next sale. Think I'll hold off for now.
  3. So I have to ask, what is the general consensus on the differential braking/steering? Someone on one of the MP servers told me it was a pain compared to the NWS. Thoughts?
  4. Interesting, I've avoided downloading the new version because I don't want to give up the NWS and in fact the release notes that I read say "Removed - Nose Wheel Steering" Hope we can get some clarification.
  5. On certain mp servers, like the 149th and 4YA, I am unable to click on the comms menu to bring up ATC, Ground Crew, etc. I have the white dot showing from the mouse, but it doesn't activate the selection, nor does the VR controller cursor. I'm able to click on all the plane controls and F10 map, just not the comms menu. I dont seem to have this problem in other servers I play, but happens in the 149th and 4YA. Not sure if there is any correlation but both 4YA and 149th are hot start and the others (that I can click on the menu) are cold start. Kind of a deal breaker when you are wearing a VR headset to have to use the F keys for ATC and Ground Crew comms. Any suggestions?
  6. No suggestions??? I've also noticed that I can NOT click (with either mouse or VR controller) on the comms menu in the 4YA servers.... but I am able to click on the menu in Seventh Fleet servers, Vietnam server and some others. Not sure if there is any correlation but both 4YA and 149th are hot start and the others (that I can click on the menu) are cold start. Kind of a deal breaker when you are wearing a VR headset to have to use the F keys for ATC and Ground Crew comms.

    Flood light?

Ahhh thanks. I've been looking through Chucks guide, but missed this.

    Flood light?

OK, dumb question here... but where is the switch for the bright flood light, located on the nose wheel located? And what is it called in the Control Menu? Working on learning the Harrier and for some reason I cant locate the switch or find the right Control application in the menu. Tried just about every light listed. Thanks
  10. Thanks, I'll try hovering a little longer to see if they board. I guess the rescue hoist is non-functional.
  11. I've been flying the Huey in the Vietnam server and have been working on SAR of downed pilots. No problem picking up a pilot in a clear area but what do you do when the pilot is in a heavily wooded area? I see in the Controls list that there is a "Rescue Hoist" but damned if I can get it to work. Is it a working control? What other option is there for the above scenario?
  12. Hi, I'm Auger and I'm a DCS VR addict... An unrepentant DCS VR addict. I've flown many years in flat screen, since the days of Chuck Yeagers Air Combat and the beginning of Warbirds MMO. I can only fly in VR now and I break into cold sweats when I think of returning to a flat screen. I think I might need a support group.............. Nah... on second thought, gonna check the price on the Reverb G2 to replace my Rift S, then fire up DCS and go back to learning the Harrier, and practicing my landings in the Huey.
  13. As am I. I'm trying to learn the C version, but am finding it overwhelming and intimidating. Understanding the control of the two MFD's in the C is giving me fits. I feel I'm pretty proficient in the A and prefer it's simpler work flow. I'd buy an updated A version in a heartbeat, but I don't think it will ever happen.
  14. I'm mostly a mud mover, but I'm in the same boat. I'm happy with the Rift S as far as the immersion factor is concerned. Don't think I could ever go back to using a monitor, but I sure could do without the screen door effect and I'd like a little better clarity. I'm also thinking about making the jump to the G2. If you make the jump, let us know how you like it compared to the Rift S.
  15. I'm still using a Rift S on an i9 9900k, RTX 2080 computer. Getting kind of tired of the screen door effect and not seeing the cockpit gauges clearly. I'm trying to learn the A10C and the AV-8B and the MFD maps are all but useless. I'm in the market for a new VR headset, but dont want to spend all my time constantly tweaking settings to get the best graphics. My computer is in the corner of a small room, so not sure about having to set out base stations. It sounds like the Reverb G2 may be the best option for me, but I've read of glitches in the system, like sound issues, etc. I'd like to avoid the Oculus 2 if at all possible, now that Facebook has taken over Oculus. Any recommendations?
  16. Even with the brightness turned all the way up, I'm finding the gunsight hard to see in daylight also. Aside from that, the A-4E is probably my favorite plane to fly. Wish more MP servers had it, but I understand why they don't. Just glad we've got the Vietnam server hosting it. It's been great flying the mud moving missions.
  17. If you're trying to use the computer aided bombing, you need to set the switch to "computer" (CMPTR) instead of LABS. Although some YT videos show using the LABS selector, it doesn't work for this version, but the CMPTR selector does. Hope this helps.

    Tiger II for 2.7

Agreed and I'd gladly pay for the upgrade.
  19. Guess it depends on the servers you're playing. I fly the A10A on quite a few MP servers. I'm still trying to learn the basics of the A10C. If he likes the F5, he may want to try the A-4E. It's a free high fidelity mod that's fun to fly. I've only found 1 MP server using it, The Vietnam War Server, but it's a good server with fun missions and there's usually a few people flying in the evenings.
  20. Just want to say thanks for putting this server up. I've been having a great time flying the Huey, though I eventually get shot down. I just updated my A-4 (from 1.3) and am working on relearning the basics after being away from DCS for a year and a half. I have yet to figure out SRS, but it's on my list. Thanks again.
  21. Well renamed the Saved Games DCS folder. DCS created a new folder but I'm still having Control commands that I'm unable to pull up and assign a command, whether it be keyboard or HOTAS. As you can see in the attached screenshot, APU Off and APU Start will not allow me to open in the Throttle category and APU Start/Off will not allow me to assign a keyboard command or a Virpil Joystick button press. There are quite a few other commands in all the modules like this. Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? Thanks
  22. Thanks Gumbie. I'm using a Virpil stick, Warthog throttle and VKB pedals. To be clear, some of the blocks within the controllers settings are dark and wont even open up when I double click on them. A search yielded two solutions (from quite a few years ago), one said to move the Saved games folder, another said to move the Config folder. Not sure which to try or if there's a newer solution. Also wondering if this will change all my graphics, VR settings, etc. If so I'll have to make note of all the settings so I can get them back up. Any help greatly appreciated.
  23. Been away from DCS awhile and recently got back into it. Today I decided to start learning the A10C. As I started setting up my HOTAS commands, I noticed that some of the control commands will not accept input. There are some blank spots in each category that will not accept keyboard commands, throttle commands and joystick commands. This looks to be the case with just about every module I own. I've been flying the A10A, the Huey and the Gazelle with no problems, but they were all setup almost two years ago, though even they have blank areas that I cant assign commands. What is the fix for this? I think I remember reading somewhere to remove the saved game folder, but doesn't this remove all my settings, missions etc???
  24. Much thanks QuiGon.
