*** Official ED Campaign Creation Competition ***
-Bazong- replied to Arne Anka's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm in a similar situation as your squadmate, hence I've not released any of the many beta's I've made :P But I figure that I enjoy the game just as much in the mission editor as in the cockpit so no pressure.. :) -

Mine too!! :D Real life and a little little bit of Silent Hunter 4 gets in the way sometimes :P -
If so, that might just make me start playing Lockon again :)

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
-Bazong- replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think it's funny some people are so skeptical to FFB (some even say in one sentence they've no clue how it works in sims, and in the next sentence that they would'nt touch it with a barge pole :D ).. One can allways turn FFB off and be left with a stick that has adjustable tension.. I also agree with the idea that some forces on the stick - even if they're not felt in the stick on the real thing - can make a more realistic interpretation of flying (I'm not thinking of gunshake here), as long as any such options are optional I'd be happy.. :) -

Wow.. I'll postpone my G940 purchase, and maybe maybe there won't be a G940 for me.. :) -
Logitech G940 Review on Black Shark
-Bazong- replied to Duke49th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes that would be best, depending on how it compares - I'll know if I need to stock up on good used msFFB2's :P Or if I can finally put to rest after loooooong and loyal service... I'm hoping my final verdict will be the latter. -
I don't know about diodes for the matrix - I thought ghost keys was inevitable if anything but momentary switches was used in a matrix..? Indeed, it's a very affordable card I thinks. If one could do these things via the GUI, alot of people scared of programming and scripting would be introduced to cockpit building.. The Mach3 (for cnc machines I thinks) plugin for the card makes me think that it could - with an addon card - run stepper motors for physical instruments also..

You've played too much Black Shark when...
-Bazong- replied to manne's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
When you crashed your car because neither the gear shifter or the pedals worked to change your course.. (This could be a general flightsim syndrom though).. :pilotfly: -
Even the pros put their blades together
-Bazong- replied to wickedpenguin's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Heh.. Where did all this about "air-superiority-gaining-Ka-50/52's-zooming-over-the-battlefield-cartoonish" come from!? My argument was purely about the fact I don't think the design is "nuts", most people (real pilots and us virtual pilots) have no problem not getting blade-strikes (when flying sober). That leads me to believe that those that do have that problem would be getting boom strikes in conventional helicopters instead (we'll see when the Apache comes out :D ). If one makes sure those red and yellow push lights don't blink and beep - there's no problem (just as with any other helicopter). Besides -
Yes outputs from lamps and lcd's, but also inputs for switches (since almost all the keycommands mappable in game are toggles) so as to assure sync between physical and ingame switches..

Logitech G940 Review on Black Shark
-Bazong- replied to Duke49th's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thx for your input guys, indeed I read EcoDragon's review but it's probably the only really negative review I've found about it. Since I have an msFFB2 (modded with ministick from a logitech gamepad :D ) the only alternatives for me are to buy a "less used" msFFB2 or the G940.. ;) -

Do you have a more detailed review? (I really would like to know your thoughts as I see myself having one soon).. thx -
Sweet!! Very good job! I'll be downloading as soon as I get my G940!! :D

Oh I very much don't agree, flying sober I've only had a blade clash once and that was being under fire and panic. I've probably flown 150hrs sober or so. No problem at all to keep it within safe limits I thinks. I'd imagine that you'd get a boom strike with a normal helicopter in the situations you get blade clash in the Ka-50(?) -
Hi Boris! Very much appreciate you taking the time to post here!! I believe there are a few IO-solutions for Flight Simulator X/2004 which are reasonably easy to use for cockpit building even if one does'nt know much about programming. I have'nt been able to find any for DCS or IL-2 though, that's why I like your GUI - makes it easy to get going with momentary switches and rotaries at least... If there were a plugin for DCS I think you'd get quite a bunch extra sales :smilewink: It's a promising simulator and with the A-10C module on the way it'll find a much broader audience once that is released. From what I understand it's relatively simple to interface with DCS if one has the knowledge, plenty of information on that here on this forum..

So Who Are the G940 Owners?
-Bazong- replied to blaster454's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Will have one soon! :) -
Hi! I don't know how to make it read data from the sim (yet), I think it would have to include some third party app though. I only saw C# mentioned in the manual, but I have'nt looked very closely yet..
-
So after a bunch of confusion and trouble I've got it up and running :D It's nice I thinks.. With the VERY easy GUI program one can configure; The 5 analog inputs (which pops up as a 5 axis joystick when you plug it in), set up a matrix keyboard (8x8 maximum it seams) using desired inputs, you can then assign any keys (it does'nt differentiate between right and left when it comes to shift/ctrl/alt) or macros for the matrix or switches you might have on the inputs.. When the device is configured, one does'nt need to run any background program or anything, it just pops up as a 5 axis joystick and a keyboard.. One can also test LCD's and some other things with the GUI.. For the advanced user alot more can be done, there are examples of how to speak to it in C# etc.. Won't be looking into that just yet though..

SAITEK X65F NEW CONTROLSYSTEM
-Bazong- replied to huteng's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For the trim to behave realistically in BS? Have you flown IL-2 with msFFB2 (with gunshake disabled!!)? If my passion were for jetfighters I'd probably own a FSSB modded cougar, but I want to fly old planes and choppers mostly.. -

I'll also be getting the G940 now that I know :D I can understand why some might rather want a force sensing stick though, if you fly fighters mostly (F-16 and others has it). Eventhough I've never tryed a force sensing stick I don't think it's for me (I like old planes and choppers mostly)... -
Oh, I heard about the lawsuit.. But that was only about specific mech models I thinks? The mech in the teaservideo is similar to one that some other mech game has... I've assumed that the lawsuit would'nt stop the development of MW5, I sure hope not!!
-
Is it multicore after the patch!? I find that hard to believe. I never heard any mention of it (and I even read the entire patch readme)...
-
Mechwarrior 5 is probably going to be developed by Pirahna games I thinks, but it'll be called just Mechwarrior.. There is an announcement, a teaser video and an interview..
-
Very beautiful and practical build!! I had something similar in mind for a while, but then I remembered that I don't have a wife :P Your collective is especially nice!!

One will be very much more motivated to not crash or get shot down, makes for a more immersive experience :D
