  1. What difference would it make, other than being able to fly all aircraft from the same GUI? Or am I missing something??
  2. Now you're making me curious!! How does that system work?
  3. I'd really like to see something like that!! More random system failures would be cool. But, even cooler would be if the game tracked the choppers condition in a dynamic campaign and the likelyhood of failures depended on the time between check-ups, recent battle damage and/or stress, the moons position relative that of venus etc.. In short, I like peoples thoughts about how system failures and the pleasure of landing in one piece after failures would really start to make sense in a more immersive campaign environment.. I really hope we'll get there some day.
  4. I have an FFB cyclic, but use the old system for the pedals (tryed the new but did'nt like it)..:joystick:
  5. I have an MS FFB2 as well, it works very well with the game me thinks.. I've had it for 6 yrs or something like that, it's still going strong.. I thought FF made a huge difference in IL-2, and I liked it in Lockon and BS for the realistic trimming. Also very curious about the Logitech HOTAS, if it seams nice after some reviews I'll definetly buy it :)
  6. Very cool!! I love mechs! Was very much into the Mechcommander series.. Star trek is also great!! :D And your mech is amazing man!! It'll be perfect for the new Mechwarrior game inbound..
  7. Wise words!! :) Another thing comes to mind, how does it feel using a cockpit with gauges and all with TrackIR? If one deactivates the virtual cockpit in game, would it be hard to know which way I'm looking? Are external parts of the aircraft that are visible from the cockpit (such as the stub-wings in the case of the KA-50) visible if the virtual cockpit is deactivated? I've only had the fortune to try a sim-with-cockpit with a big great dome around it (that was obviously very cool), so I'm curious as to how it'd feel with a large screen and trackIR..
  8. Sweet!! I had a feeling there were more than me wanting to do this, seams the only reasonable way for a cockpit suitable for many different aircraft.. I've just started looking, but the simmeters workspace 2.0 program and their instrument packs looked interesting (they claim they´re compatible with Lockon, IL-2 and others.. seams it's popular for glider sims running Condor). But I've read they are'nt in business any longer :/
  9. Interesting!! That's more than I knew about the PCIP, I hope they release it soon.. I have no intention of using mechanical instruments though, so it would be very nice I thinks if the PCIP could also draw instruments on a screen.. Even if the PCIP won't be able to do that, I might be able to use the data to feed som other app that draws the instruments..(?)
  10. Wow, that's beautiful!! :) Amazing work!!
  11. Hi all!! I've been pondering to build a general russian-style fighter pit, for use with DCS mostly.. (just started on some blueprints, will post them when I've made some progress).. I'm hoping to be able to use one large 22" or 24" widescreen to show instruments, warning lights and MFD's. Then as the DCS series goes on I thought I'd make overlays for my favourite aircrafts with holes, rotaries etc appropriate to the aircrafts instrumentation. I'm also thinking I'll have 10" or 12" touchscreen (in addition to lots of switches) to make it flexible enough for many different aircraft.. So to the questions: Is it possible to view the Abris and Schkval AND instruments like simmeters or similar on the same screen (or should I split it up into 3 smaller screens)? And how would one go about it? Should I use a different pc for this screen? Also, the "cockpit-tool program" (forgot what it's called) that ED is supposed to release.. Has anyone a clue on whether they plan on implementing instruments, MFD's and warninglights that I can arrange as I whish? Any other thoughts or suggestions are off course more than welcome!!! :D I've also gotten alot of inspiration from all you other guys projects!! Lots of impressive stuff!!
  12. This is awesome!! Thanks to ED and Arne Anka!! I'll try to participate!! :)
  13. Heh.. I posted on the CA forums I thinks, were you the one calling me a pirate for it? :D But the difference is that you don't need to have the computer you intend to play black shark on hooked up to the internet, ever, you only need access to the internet at some point.. You could use an internet café for instance, to get the final activasion code and write it down on paper.. Thats a good bonus compared to Steam. So as far as I'm concerned I like DCS starforce much better than steam. Now I really will stop :P
  14. I agree completely, mine was behaving oddly on my last computer. I did'nt fly until I got the issue resolved (once one has gotten used to it one never goes back). Their support was great! (It turned out a reinstall of windows and using a USB port from the little seven-pin connectors on the mobo solved the problem).
  15. You guys will have to tell us what you think of the sim when you've had a few hours with it!! :)
  16. Hi-tech!? There are no systems in the chopper able to detect threats where the relevant counteraction is to release flares other than the pilots eyes/intuition.. I believe it's supposed to be set up to an appropriate program according to the expected threat and then used preemptively during the attack.. That is, you push the "start popping flares" button and get on with it. If you've planned your attack and CM's nicely, you should'nt have to press it again.. ps. I also have that button mapped to my cyclic though :P
  17. I fly fully manual on relaxation flights. In combat I use all the dampeners/stabilisation channels or whatever they're called (the four blue buttons) for normal flight and the flight director for slow flight or hovering. I trim constantly however (I use FFB) regardless of the above.. I'll also use alt-hold sometimes..
  18. However comprehensive, when I bought the game I did'nt know whether I could remotely activate the game at home (where I've no internet). And I'd read it 3 times.. But then maybe I'm just dumb :P edit: Sorry about third post about this, I'll stop now
  19. heh.. oops.. :P The particular game I was thinking about was Empire:Total War (a steam game), which, because I have no internet connection at home, required me to haul my computer to the office where I do have a connection in order to install the game. There was no way of remotely activating the game.. On top of that, they released an unplayable game and the only way to patch it is through steam.. :/ Now after a grand patch it's an absolutely fantastic game however :) Where as with DCS, I downloaded it, installed on my computer and then I got a code which I could email somewhere, which in turn gave me another code which I took home to activate DCS.. (don't remember the exact procedure, but it did'nt require any hauling of my computer).. I think that's a nice feature of the new starforce, since some people for various reasons cannot have an internet connection at home. @ Acedy: I obviously was'nt writing to ED, I'm sure they know everything about their (IMO) very good copy protection.. I was just sharing my good experiences with it :) If that's not ok I'll say no more..
  20. I like it alot more than steam for the simple reason that I did'nt need to haul my computer to work just to install it (like I had to do for certain other games), it just took a little back and forth with a USB-memory :) Very acceptable copy protection I thinks!
  21. Indeed, looking forward to SoW but I have stopped hoping or looking for updates, I'll just get it when/if it gets released.. Two weeks!! :D
  22. Interesting to watch the video, of those examples; Lockon looks rather "stiff" by comparison.. Looking forward to trying 6dof (just upgraded from Tir3 to Tir5 :D )
  23. Cool!! I'll get this I thinks.. :) Never flown a sim of this era before. Also looks very beautiful in an IL-2'ish kind of way..
  24. I thought IL-2 was stunning when it came out, the feeling of flight was absolutely the best that had ever been I thought.. (and still goes strong) It made stalls and spins feel quite real (from an R/C pilots point of view anyway) like no sim before. Another thing that was very nice in IL-2 was how your pilots head moved slightly as you pulled some G's, that made me "feel the plane" very well me thinks.. I don't know if X-plane 3.w/e possibly had a more advanced flightmodel than IL-2 then but I thought IL-2 had a better sensation of flight. I never liked Lomac (much due to the rudder :P ) until Flaming Cliffs and the Su-25(T)..
  25. I'd also like a Harrier, definetly on the top of my list.. :)
