  1. Once you get the matrix mapped, it's pretty easy from there. As far as getting more than one keystroke on one switch throw, that shouldn't be happening. Check your soldering. I've been an electronics/engineering tech for going on 20 years now and, honestly, I got lazy lol! I went with an X-Keys board. 128 key combinations with a really good macro recorder for on release states as well made for a good buy.
  2. Your pilot would short circuit the electronics in the helicopter cuz a person can't sit in there that long without having to take a leak eventually :D
  3. As promised - Here's a video I made using the TH2G and FRAPS Once I get my video camera back (someone borrowed it) I'll shoot one of how my desk set up looks. The video shows exactly what I see ingame. I use the Acer X203H monitors (can read about my adjustment with those in the youtube description). What I did like about these monitors though was the bezels are tapered front and back. That worked out nicely on my desk since it's a corner desk. The two side monitors are at a 30 degree angle in relation to the center monitor, so I get the "wrap around" effect with reduced bezels. I have maybe 3/4" inch worth of bezel seperation between the monitors as a result of those tapers. Also, being matched monitors, I did not have to use the TH2G's bezel adjustment at all either :)
  4. The problam with large groups of players in ArmA is that it's always a challenge to get everyone on the same page unless it's clan vs clan
  5. I was referring to Huxley (posts above mine)
  6. If I were younger and still into twitch reaction shooters, I'd probably be on the hot seat playing it right now, but it took too long to get this far.....I'm old LOL!
  7. FYI - Huxley is in closed beta for File Planet suscribers ;)
  8. Only games like Huxley (MMOFPS), Infinity Quest For Earth (MMOG aka first person Eve), DCS Blackshark can break new and innovative ground now. Everything else has been done. Graphical advances are fine, but are generally released in a game without any new or real substance. A good case was COD4. Looked pretty, but the gameplay was the same type of gameplay that's been around for years. Got boring after about 3 months. While ArmAII may not have broken any staggering new ground, it gives us something with a more current look to it than the original OFP. The processing power just isn't there for a full out sim across the board (FM, AI acting like bonafied humans, land vehicle effects, person beside you jumping as hot brass falls down their shirt, etc) Not everyone could afford a dual quad core system with Tri-SLI ;) And, for the record, the flight model sucked in OFP as well but the game was still fun as hell to play :D
  9. Outstanding job! Well composed and easy to follow. Many other videos gave the "how" but the "why" provides a geater understanding of what's actually going on :) I would suggest providing a basic white background/black text version fo the checklist for thoe of us who do not have color printers ;)
  10. There's things all through OFP/ArmA/ArmA II that can be termed as unrealistic. The basic bottom line is that total realism is not feasible even with today's compueter processing. 9-10 years ago, a game like ArmA II would have shattered the boundaries and would have been atop every rave review out there. These days, we're so accustomed to eye candy and ballistics that we tend to ignore the positive attributes and just rip the games apart in every small area they fail. OFP/ArmA/ArmAII were always intended to be Strategy and Tactical Sims from the first person perspective. A sandbox for mission makers and players who wanted to work in organized units rather than running like mad using quick reaction skills to score a frag. So the flight model isn't dead on. It was never touted as a flight sim in the first place. The helicopter dynamics were always their main focus. Fixed wing were added atop the rotor wing dynamics. It's a helluva game and will be alot of fun to play with other tactically-minded people....especially on the no respawn-no repair missions. Those missions carry the gameplay to a whole new level :D
  11. Hopefully someone will make a mod to introduce natural weapon sway into OFP2. That rock steady console aiming is going to kill it imho lol! Also, it's unkown at this point if OFP2 will have TrackIR or freelook capabilities due to the console nature of the game. Still gonna by it tho. May be a midpoint between COD4/AA/Bf2 and ArmA2 :)
  12. F-15 Strike Eagle by Microprose (1985): Fighter Piot by Digital Integration (1984): Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer (1987): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyu0w1fzyIc Yep, I'm old lol!
  13. Haven't played ACE 1.09. Still have 1.07 on my server simply cuz I've been too lazy to update  I know in 1.07, I could get a good sprint distance loaded up with an M-21 SMD, an AT-4 launcher w/ 1 round, 1 M67 frag, a satchel, and some mags. Start carrying the stinger, javeling, dragon, M107, M109, or a ruck sack and that would become an extremely heavy load evenin real life. Not much running with those items.
  14. I'm putting together a video that shows not only BS with the triplehead2go, but also a couple of other games along with studio multitracking, pcb layout (glad I ain't the only one on here lol), general office apps, and web authoring. There's also a good thread on the TH2G in the BS GD forum. I'll link it when I find it.
  15. From what I have been seeing of ingame footage of OFP, I think it's going to cater to those who want something larger than and less arcade than COD4 and BF2, but not quite an all-out sim like ArmA. Personally, I plan on getting both and hoping I'll enjoy them equally :) I have a friend who has ArmAII and, so far, he's really liking the improvements over ArmA.
  16. They're not dying, they're just becomeing mroe of a niche genre. In the old days (C64 through the early x586 days) it was primarily adults grabbing the games on for the computers. The computers themselves cost a good bit back then, so they weren't considered a toy for the kids. My first online gaming team back in 1998 had over 80 active members and none of them were below the age of 22. It was just that there was a plethora of adults online. As kids infiltrated the scene though, many adults gave up the past time as they didn't want to babysit online as well. Kids don't have the patience for a vertical learning curve. They want to turn on, load, and immediately start blowing things up. Definitely not a flight sim generation. So, with market demand for high learning curves down to an all time minimum, the flight sim genre was bound to take a serious hit. Suits me fine though. At least I know that in the sim community, I am more likely to be playing with adults rather than whining, screaming children. I'd rather play with 300 adults rather than 10,000 smack-talking brats who feel entitled to do whatever they want with no regard to other people at all.
  17. And found a sign that just HAD to become my new sig lol!
  18. They're all nice, bright 4 pointed muzzle flashes visibile from any angle at any time in OFP2 ;) The only time I ever saw the muzz flash from an AK during the daytime hours, is if they were in a shadowed area like a narrow alley or inside a house. Lighting, what a wonderful thing :D
  19. 1st Gulf War three times and Bosnia twice. Rarely did I ever see muzzle flashes during the day from my M16A2 or my M4A1.
  20. Few things about OFP DR are already bugging me 1) It's being optimized for console play 2) Muzzle flashes visible in daylight 3) Vehicles and players have a shiney texture at night 4) Very little weapon's drift after running a full sprint, stopping, and scoping in while standing I have a longer list, but all of that can be seen in the gameplay videos if you search enough ;) ArmA2 has bugs on release. Big deal. Every game I have tried over the past three years has had reported bugs on release. Too many chipsets, too many architectures around those chipsets, too many GPU chipsets, too many manufactures around those chipsets, and too many variables across several OS versions. All added up = impossible to beta test before launch for smooth running on all machines.
  21. Like I said in an earlier post, releasing it for bug finding in Europe has been the way it's been since the orignal OFP. Just back in those days, people had more patience and dealt with the bugs in favor of the game's potential (aka, far less whining and complaining). ArmA was already at v1.05 at the US release and there was the 1.08 patch that was released almost simultaneously. I don't agree with their system of making people buy the game to get it widely beta tested uner all the different architectures, but I also don't expect a bug free game on release anymore. The corporate machine dictates when things go out the door, not the quality department. As for the AI, alot of the people complaining have dual core machines. The micro AI in ArmA2, and this was posted by BI more than once, relies on one core of a Quad Core machine. Without a QUad core, a player will not get the full experience. That being said, there's still going to be problems with the AI until they get the micro AI process smoothed out across all OS variants and architecture combinations.....and that's a huge number of possbile combinations too.
  22. Here's a good review from tacticalgamer.com: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/armed-assault-armed-assault-2-discussion/139436-tacticalgamer-review-arma2.html As far as the buggy German release, they've done that since OFP. It's like getting people to buy to beta test. Kinda cheap, but I guess their logic is that once a person buys it, they'll be more apt to find the problems. Then you fix them before a world-wide release.
  23. AA and AF are setup via the nVidia control panel Control + W will reload when you land (Control + R will refuel)
  24. The MCDP was not installed into the F-15C until a major retrofit in the 1990's. This also included an upgraded PACS. My guess is that ED had the technical data on the early variants of the F-15C, but used a photo of a later version to model the cockpit. The original "MFD" was monochrome only.
  25. Ironhand said it best in the TWS Mode tutorial at flankertraining. The variant of the AN/APG-63 is five generations behind current techonology. The newer variants of the radar are pahased array and the display (MFD) has changed as well. Of course to model that in would mean modeling everything else in the current models into the game as well ;)
