Try calling Microsoft with a windows issue........ *hint* make sure you have a good balance on your CC's the TM "free" lines might just be a recording. then a message to "press 1" to be put through to support charged at your local rate

Me too. Mind you, its now 2.30pm and still no, "dispatched", email. When i pre-order games from Amazon they always dispatch the day before release so you get the game the day it launches. [iNSERT PICTURE OF TICKING CLOCK] I always had that on the Cougar TBH. A side product of having an axis control attached to something else that pivots, (the throttle handle). Offest angle required for Left and Right change when moving the throttle back and forward. Made slewing the cursors interesting. (Anyone remember VIRUS on the Amiga or ZARCH on Archimedes? Same thing. Completely mental control system. Required re-wiring your brain to handle correctly)

So, apart from the throttle hat config issues and the beta-release of TARGET, (which I’m not fussed about, although i know others will be flaming the forums about, as, IMO, waiting for a fully mature TARGET would have delayed the HOTAS release, and i would rather play NOW. After all, I’m playing the beta of A-10 and am happy with that.....) .......what’s it like compared to your existing HOTAS. Can you "contrast and compare" your initial thoughts? I have a stock Cougar and apart from the centre wobble and uneven spring force, have never had any issues, (although according to these forums that makes me rarer than a unicorn on a moped), and for a long time was contemplating a G940 for the FFB trim ability in DCS:BS. The many reported issues with this HOTAS put me off, but after all the “COUGAR POTS TRASH ROFLOL LMAO” posts I am starting to think that a loud minority can overshadow a content and therefore quiet majority.

There is now way TM could do a 100% co-ordintated worldwide launch, unless someone invented teleportation. But then the French teleportation workers would be on strike and the English teleportation workers would be outsourced to India. The Norwegian teleportation workers would be laid off due to exessive import-teleport-ation tax and anyone who ordered from Amazon would still be checking their inboxes hourly for a teleportation-dispatch email. muttermuttermuttermutter

GAH! just got an email from our receptionist to tell me i had a "parcel waiting for you". I skipped along to pick it up, "pleasebethehogpleasebethehogpleasebethehog", to find...... ....a halloween party wig. Which wasnt even for me. :( This is unbearable. -
Pinky mapped to external lights by default.

Amazon still saying the 29th. It's kind of reassuring though that the small businesses have been able to secure stock before the giants. TM arent prioritizing the mega-corps. Still jealous as hell. Three days till the weekend. Plenty of time. [watches clock] - not playing a-10 till it comes. The Cougar is dead!

I think amazon may be punishing us for making them knock of £10. Must lean patience. Some day. I will be checking the postroom every hour tomorrow.

Arent they built in Canada? All the Cougar spares i every got were shipped from Canada. TM are french/canadian after all arent they? -
There is a 'first bra strap' fumbling moment. Sweaty anticipation, a pause, then..a massive explosion in the tgp. Bullseye. Rounds on target. Can't be beat. You can shove WOW. It's a hogs life for me ;P

Heh viper went first. His epic letter pummelled them into submission. Ours were like the final 'finger prod' off 'worms' that pushed them over the edge. Here's hoping for a happy Friday!:thumbup: -

Wont you be too busy burning sheep/tyres/aristocrats to be playing with HOTAS? :smartass: I blame the weather. Its too sunny and dry. Gives people ideas. You never get riots in Manchester. Too wet and windy. :cold: -

Amazon are saying it’s released on the 29th and delivery between the 28th and 29th. Not sure what to make of that. Amazon usually deliver on the day of release so may post the day before to ensure that. That’s cutting it fine for me as the 29th is Friday and its getting delivered to my work. if i change the delivery to my house assuming it may arrive on Saturday and it arrives on Friday, i will get one of those annoying postman "you weren’t there so we may try and deliver again. If we can be arsed, and haven’t all gone out for a fag" cards. It’s a logistical nightmare. I might just leave the address to my work and spike the security guards pop with 10 pro-plus tablets so he is awake if the postie comes on Saturday as every time i come in to pick up my car / bike on a Saturday the lazy sod has his feet up and is snoring with a newspaper over his head. Mind you, it’s a comfy chair and the heating is on, but…….this is serious!! (GF is away all weekend so the plan is TM HOG+DCS:HOG+pizzas+beer+phones switched off) [starts reading Su Tzu’s “art of war” to see if there is a “tactical weekend deliveries” section] -

Booked next monday off work to play with the hog. I've re-read the SIMHQ review about 5 times and cant take it anymore. I will miss my stick rotaries but, hey, i can keep the Cougar throttle for F-16. Can i have DCS:A-10 Beta #2 before then guys? :harhar: -
Once you move the reference point though....... I will experiment in the TGP for A-A, (i read that post before starting this one). I wonder if you can turn it off? If its a hangover from older A-10's then it's just taking up HUD real estate IMO
-
What do it do? I can slew it, i can depress it, but i don't know what to do with it? :book: I originally thought it was like the "gun cross" from falcon and i could use it to calculate AOA, but if it can be moved...... Then i thought it was like the LOMAC A-10A pipper for designating CCIP targets, but in DCS you designate with the CCIP pipper. hmmmmmm

I learned the startup on 2-3 sittings. Not bad. not too complex. I think what Hassata means is that the A-10 has gone from a dedicated CAS platform to somewhat of a multirole one. The actual deployments and combat roles of the hog far outgrew its original design. That’s a testament to its original design though, and that of the Falcons. That’s why they have enjoyed such longevity. Multirole = versatility = lowers costs = happy budget holders. I know what he means though. Putting along at 300kts @ 20,000ft just feels wrong and i feel very vunerable with just 2 x heaters at that altitude. If a Flanker appeared on my RWR at that altitude i would feel very out of place. And be screaming for my CAP. IRL though youw ouldnt be doing that until total air superiority was achieved. In MP games though we will be hog-meat so wil proable stay low.

Thats cool. Some of you guys have picked up the intricate mysteries of the CDU very quickly. I keep putting it off as that part of the manual is a bit baffling, (as a pdf - it will be easier once ive got a nice ring bound manual). These vids help a lot. Can this be done from the UFC? I dont like to go "heads down" whilst fliying. I can create offest markpoints using the TGP as per "headspaces" tutorial, but would like to save them as a flightplan.

I am slowly converting the 'man' half of our study into a cockpit. First a HOTAS appeared, then TrackIR, and now 2xMFD's Next week a TM hog and retirement for the Cougar. She has some pictures of cats. [and a wardrobe full of expensive and worn once clothes and shoes]

Bloody hell, we've had mandatory seatbelts since the '70's over here. Are you allowed to have loaded guns on the drivers seat? (looks for passport) And we haven't been allowed to drink-drive since the Vikings were over here. Bloody Sweyn Forkbeard my arse! ;)

My i7 930 @ 4ghz chugs with an overclocked gtx285. Like andy said, the beta is not about performance, it's about stability on various hardware platforms. please DO NOT make buying decisions based on A-10 performance. However tempting it may be with the next gen of AMD @ Nvidia GFX cards on their way for xmas ;)
