It will be, but the new manual covers the procedure.
-
I will do that tomorrow. Do you want screens from the instant of the explosion or just before, or both?
-
Nope. One release. Schindlers list quotes on a Friday afternoon? Things are getting a little surreal round here. Did someone leave a paint tin open? Godwins should be the official end of all threads IMO ;)
-
AFAIK its a WIP leftover from BS ATC comms. QFE is the russian pressure setting. Not sure how its related to the A-10 which has a 4 digit "pressure set knob". (manual P121 "Rotate this knob clockwise or counter clockwise to manually set a barometric altitude."). That imples that you just put the actual runway alt in there instead of farting about with pressures. Not sure where to find those apart from charts available in the forum. Not ingame) The "300" is most likely the same BS leftover. Thats high for the shark!
-
Trial and error. It's not Photoshop ;) (with you on the Nellis avoidance at the early WIP stage) Once you get them right, save them as a template group then you never have to fiddle again. Much.

Cheers. To be honest I think i hit one of those after I left the pub last friday night. But i was protected in that instance by my beer-armour.

That was so awesome that my awesome-o-meter just broke! There is something to be said for barrelling through the pearly gates of heaven/hell in a gigantic fireball. (to the sound of loud guitar riffs) "I've come for your drink and your women. Forget the harp" ( )
-
Are catastrophic fuse failures modelled? That would be cool and kinda scary? Wingman was told to STAY PUT around the IP whilst i took out all the anti-air defences. It was my mission, (i can post that), so there were no hidden enemies. This is a very weird one. Oh well, WIP i guess.
-
You have restored some of my shaky faith in my own sanity. IRL I would now be in the military stockade on charges of "forcibly inserting explosive suppositry into crew-chief"
-
I hear you, but the bomb was way below me when the explosion took it and me out. Not a bomb collision that i could see. My pitch change was slow, not violent at all.
-
Well, convinced I had been a dunmbas, I dutifully reviewed the .TRK and apart from a few mistakes, (leaving my lights on, second mav attack too close to SAM site), I was doing okay. The PIBL got a bit squirrelly as I got near release but the action takes place at 57:08 as I release GBU-10 bomb with +1 pitch. At this point the enemies remaining forces consist of 2 x BTR-80's and 2 x T-55's, none of which seem a threat. The bomb separates and falls away. Two seconds later I have 0 pitch. One second later I am a fireball! I looks like the falling bomb exploded and took me out in the blast. Either that or I spontaneously combusted. Please have a look guys and see if you can spot what I did wrong, (apart from what I mentioned). Second fly through was carbon copy and worked fine.

I wasn't in a dive or anything. No more than -5 (but I wouldn't swear on that). I just re-ran the scenario and made damn sure i was level and my bomb hit spot on, (the ground). I have the track file of the original incident which i will look at tomorrow. Going to hook tacview up. I've heard it can be persuaded to work with the beta. Pity it cant open trk files. ps. GBU-10 is my current favourite way to inflict mayhem, (apart from when i am practicing for the aviation darwin awards :music_whistling:)
-
Heading on target, I release my GBU and hold my path so as not to break the laser lock and..........BOOM. "what hit me? I was clear in, no threats left, check the debriefing..." bollocks

This is my first BETA game experience. I’ve done software testing before but never paid to do it. :helpsmilie: For me, there were two questions; Do I want to fly the sim now or later? TBH the KA-50 was getting old for me. That’s not a criticism of the sim bit more a limitation of the role of the actual craft. Hiding behind a hill at 7kn range picking off enemies then skulking behind another hill was super cool for a long time, but the constraints of the weapons systems and sensor suite began to feel limiting to me. The demos and posts about the hog were very tempting, as along with the F-15 the hog was my favourite plane in LOMAC/FC. I never did get on with the Su-25t as I found the Vikhr implementation almost suicidal, (lase, launch......continue to lase whilst having to head straight towards enemy....get shot down). The a-10c has much greater standoff potential to both, making it very attractive to me. Do I pay once and get the game for "free" when released? I’m going to buy this sim anyway right? Unless ED releases a dud, which by their track record doesn’t really seem likely does it? (This is where all the “blind faith” arguments start and end). So based on the fact that I have a pretty good intention of buying when released anyway then why wait? If I buy now, I don’t have to pay later and I can get my impatient hands on the hog right away. There are caveats sure; It’s a beta and therefore...... (Read up on what ‘beta’ means if unsure ;)). None optimised and with many features still to be fixed / tweaked (as above). We have no schedule of upcoming updates. They appear monthly, ( so far). There aint to change-log so new releases mean a forum flurry and a few days to determine whether what you are experiencing is due to bugs, your hardware or your untrained fingers. But the benefits are IMO very attractive You buy the beta; you got the game when it’s released. Whenever it’s released. You get to start learning the hog now so when it IS released.....you will be very handy. As a simmer, you get a whole new deadly arsenal to play with. As a simmer you get a whole new advanced flight model to fly with. As a simmer you get to take part in the evolution and perfection of what has got to be THE biggest release of the year at least. The forums are a very friendly and informative place where if you do have a question, (and aren’t too annoying about it ;) you will get help). If, for any reason, (and I am touching a scots pine here), it isn’t released in 2010, you can STILL FLY over Xmas as you have the beta. I just can’t see myself getting bored in this sim as the A-10c is far far more versatile than the KA-50 was and the new JTAC systems, etc. bring another whole dimension. This sim is HUUUUUUUGE. We are now a month in and onto the second beta. Some guys are very very proficient right now and are posting fantastic vids on YouTube, (checkout ExcessiveHeadspace’s & Tigerpwrr Channels). These guys are helping the rest of us get to grips with systems that are modelled with an extremely high level of fidelity and are somewhat daunting to get your head around from the manual only, (depending on how you like to learn). If things go on as they have begun, by the time the games goes gold, there will be a wealth of information and help out there for budding pilots. More than I have seen for any game at this stage of development. ----------------- Anyway, that’s my opinion. I bought, I downloaded, I play, I learn, I post, and after a month, I am still learning and getting better every single day. I haven’t played any other sim since. Now that’s saying something for a beta isn’t it?

A small problem on my Warthog
coolts replied to sofie_59's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Some USB devices get very tetchy about which port they work with. Manufacturers are very creative about the virtual USB devices that they create in device manager to enable all sorts of features and emulations. The Cougar for instance, to allow chaining the throttle, created virtual hubs and ports which could be clearly seen in device manager under the USB section. Not sure about the hog as I am at work but the normal “plug and play” capability of USB that we all expect is compromised significantly when the driver started doing all this kind of USB tomfoolery. My cougar was a right pain in the arse in this department. If I so much as pulled the USB cable out and put it back in the same port I had to re-flash the firmware. Moving to another port necessitated an un-install /reinstall of the drivers. So for those with vanishing throttles, etc. Drill down to the USB device and uninstall any TM created ones, reboot and re-attach the devices. You will know if it’s working as you will hear the Windows “bing-bong” USB noise as it finds devices. Good luck. -
Problem with Warthog Throttle
coolts replied to Jg2001_Rasputin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not sure about foreign laws, but in the UK you have statutory 1 year vendors warranty on all electrical goods so if anything goes wrong with mine, its back to Amazon, not farting arouind trying to get sense out of TM. -
I tend to use radar alt when down in the weeds / terrain masking. I dont want to trust my arse to someones map drawing skills, or my own fumble fingered baro pressure settings. Mind you, i've never had a radar alt failure yet. I may get some seaweed in the cockpit.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

You begin contemplating creating a beta changelog to "keep track of things" -
As a test i recently installed win7 32 bit onto an old animation machine, (P4 era dual Xeon w/hyperthreading). This monster cost £££££££ back in the day and came with XP. I installed win7 and it ran faster than with a clean xp install! Windows xperiance score of 5.5. not bad for an old warhorse. good for an office desktop for another 2 years. Conclusion Win7 has far better multicore and memory managememt yiedling smoother operations overall. Think about it. when xp came out 2+ cores and >1gb Ram were unheard of outside the server market. oh, and it fixes all vistas bugs I disagree. KILL XP! With the new NVIDIA drivers, Falcon AF & FF play fine with Win7 x64
-
If you ever intend to install >3.5gb or RAM, then x64 is the only way.

With every goon carring a MANPAD at least, every damn mission is a SEAD mission! I need to find a nice field full of cows to go strafe :pilotfly:

Help Adding commands in A10 for WH
coolts replied to Nightcargo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I set CTRL+F12 in the track IR menu. I dont have a HOTAS setup for that. You mean like a FOXY "shift" don't you? That will be TARGET. You should already have your keyobard set to US so it should work for you. I havent touched it yet to be honest. -
