TM will post them to you at about 5-6 euros (inc posting from Canada). takes 5 or so weeks depending on your location. I replaced almost every pot and replaceable part in my Cougar for the princely sum 20euros. Go through their support site as linked above.

Well, I’ve had no problems with them. They’ve replied to my emails (after a day or two), and sent me parts very cheaply for out of warranty repairs. They were sent 1/2 way round the world as well. Yes i had to do the repairs myself but i bought a knackered 2nd hand Cougar so I was expecting that. If it was still within warranty I would not have been a happy camper. The forum thing is a problem, but from their point of view, they may not want 10 million people bitching at them 24/7. I suspect they will bow to pressure when TARGET is released as that ties in several controllers so will benefit a forum. The alternative would be for them to post a massive “covers all eventualities” FAQ on their website. TM as a whole however need to increase their web presence as their site is very old and clunky and consists of several layers of increasingly historical code.

You are therefore volunteering for INITIAL REVIEW duty then

I'm in Ebay selling mode with my FSX stuff right now. FSX + Acceleration + numerous scenery addons. I’ve been through 3 PC upgrades since it came out and it still runs like crap. The money you have to spend and the effort you have to go through to get a nice FSX experience is absolutely disgraceful and the “out of the box” experience was very inadequate IMO. Saying, “it’s the mods that make it” doesn’t cut it in my book. Fair play to the people with patience and cash to tart it up, but the whole “no one flies the default aircraft” is another nail in an already very magnetic coffin. If its not the default planes or the default scenery or the default weather that people are paying for then what is the bloody point of FSX? The menus? You may as well buy C++ and make your own sim. There is room for a good civilian sim there and I will give XPlane10 a look, for the times when I’m not “going CAS on their ass” in DCS:A-10. Let’s hope the Xplane devs learn from the FSX debacle. Paid mods and add-ons are there to enrich and extend, not take the place of something that should have been there from the start.

Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!
coolts replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Awesome GA. This vid is now my morning "before i leave for work" pick-me-up. The pacing and music are spot on. The calm before and after the storm show your skills here are improvong all the time. Simply superb. The vid is now on a fileserver at my work, (hope thats okay?) and i am spreading the word. I even had a few console button mashers asking me about it, so, therefore IMO, i believe the content is spot on. (reel 'em in!). I wouldn't want a movie showing dial twiddling anyway, thats what the tutorials are for. Different critera, period. Now, more please! -
mmmmm faster, less resource hungry. Win 7 is superior to xp --> vista in every single way althiughy upgrading from vista @ £150+ would be a tough sale as i got mine cheap. would'nt go back though

Hey guys, i've just had a rare moment of clarity. All of us who have preordered....... With no DCS:A-10 yet are we really going to sit there for a month setting up a profile for Falcon or FC2? I would rather iron all my socks to be honest. Unless H.E.A.R.T. makes alt-tabing all day fun! ......[thinking] ......[still thinking] ...... If TM include profiles for AF and FC2.0 i will drive over to France just to give them a hug!

Sounds amazing and potentially will draw the FSX market share now abandoned by MS. If the rendering claims addup it should be stunning.

I may take a few days off work just to setup FC2 & Falcon ;)

TM Warthog HOTAS & MFD Mapping
coolts replied to blaster454's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can use your g25 pedals. I did. Loads of others use them. they work great in DCS. If you get stuck, let us know as they can be a bit fiddly to setup. Or get a bigger desk :music_whistling: Or if you really want to twist....... -
We are still on producers note #2 right? They are converting to DX11 right? A bundle with TM may make sense down the line but no way will TM delay the Hog for DCS launch. There would be no point economically as they have no competition in as far as comparable HOTAS releases in the pre-xmas window. They will ship ASAP to start recouping dev costs. Besides, if ED "did a Falcon", and rushed DCS:A-10 in a state that needed 6 years of patches to fix, who would we blame? Keep your powder dry and wait for santa.:music_whistling:

TM Warthog HOTAS & MFD Mapping
coolts replied to blaster454's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No Twist on TM Hog as there is none on Cougar. Same type of handle. Honestly guys, i was a twistie for years and never saw what all the fuss was about. I pIcked up a 2nd haNd steering wheel & pedals combo for Colin McRae and thought, "i wonder if they will work in LOMAC". A bit of fiddling later and OH MY GOD ITS LIKE PASSING YOUR DRIVING TEST / BAMBI LEARNING TO WALK! Never looked back. And as for space. What do you have under your desk? -

nope. twist rudders are the spawn of satan -
The problem was IMO that they never went far enough with missions, etc. and the fact that it took them 25 YEARS TO INCLUDE THEM. Most simmers need a feeling of progression and involvement which the largely sterile environments of FSX simply couldn’t offer. Your aircraft was empty for instance. Where are my hands? They got by for years on goodwill from within the company but when Bill Gates went, so did their free reign. “Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates was fascinated with Antoine de Saint Exupéry's book Night Flight, which described the sensations of flying a small aircraft in great detail” I know that there are a bazillion add-ons and that some just enjoyed the feeling of flight, etc. That’s fine and each to their own, but being a “PC Pilot” Mag subscriber there are constant letters beginning with “so what do I actually DO?” with regards to MS Flight simulator. This flagrant in-audience-assumption-attitude just doesn’t work in today’s gaming software market and an audience which generally has; · Less time to spare · More distractions · Lower attention span (because of the above) · No availability of proper printer manuals. (FSX didnt even have proper pdf manuals for crying out loud. How elitist is that? Can you imagine ED releasing A-10 with no manual?) The devs just didn’t take these points seriously enough and relied on the theory that “those who bought it before already know what to do”. That theory may hold true for a company selling fishing rods or cars, or even small indie devs, but not software from a publisher with global marketing. There are of course limits to what can be achieved in a civilian sim, but surely they could have had a career mode, etc. hopefully with q total re-boot of the franchise they may achieve this and I am sure they won’t want to alienate the existing FSX audience. Just look at the Silent Hunter debacle for an example of a franchise that should be moved to pastures new, (or publishers new).

If it broadens the scope of flight Sims then it’s got to be a good thing for the genre as a whole. Let’s not sniff too much here. Pilotwings on the N64 had me gripped for months. Not the same as F4 for sure but the sheer sense of flight in their hang glider simulation was......uplifting. Sure the end result was trivial in a "collect stuff" way, but the feel of being airborne and at the mercy of the winds. They nailed that. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love switchology and submodes and all of that. Hell, I’ve preordered a TM-Hog mainly because of all those switches, but I got into this genre for the flying, not the button twiddling. That’s an extra treat. Besides MS switching the development of an IP from one team to another happens all the time, not necessarily a bad thing. How many of the current ED devs worked on Flanker?
-
Hmmm. After talking to a few devs at our place the consensus seems to be; · Aces studio hadn’t released a product in 4 years · Apart from the acceleration expansion pack · That’s a record that would get anyone fired unless they were growing bonsai trees So…….. Even if the first release is “inclusive”, the tech is there for hardcore sims. And firing one group, waiting a few months then hiring another group to work on a similar product WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT NAME is common business practice to avoid constructive dismissal litigation. Ask any employment / HR lawyer.

Day #1 plan install start trackir HOTAS setup TM warthog working gfx setup all sliders to the right instant action whats that warning sound? my rudders the wrong way round! explode rtfm i cant wait.........

Well, there are my new desktop screenshots for the next few months. To be honest, i was expecting a little GFX bump over BS but nothing like this. Very pleasantly surprised. Almost real. ;) ;) I wouldn't expect a host of DX11 features, but moving to he current gen API brings the coders at ED into the right pipeline, (DX9 and 10/11 are built on completely diffenert principles. Unified shaders, etc. post 10 I believe), for future releases and lets them tap into advanced feature as and when they see fit. Bring it on!

better multicore usage apparantly. now they need to get it to recognise additional ram and stop all that HD thrashing and texture popup. its evolving very nicely though

PAH! PONG on Binatone home system had amazing fluid "paddle" control HOPAP (or Hands on paddle and paddle) . Not very good landscape though. Or clouds. http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=3&c=1035 very realistic "white-line" flight model perfectly captured the real feel of PONG Many real PONG players preferred the dynamic "ball" campaign system and persistent scoring. And check out those switches! Eat your heart out TM Warthog! SWITCHES Game selection and player options (power, speed, bat size, angle, serve, sound) Splinter groups ruined the great PONG community and gave rise to abominations like ARKANOID, (shudder), which, though featuring better landscape graphics, failed to run on more moderm Binatone systems with NVIDIA white lines. DAVEK1979 - loved the speccy joysticks the best. Had my Kempston for years. Till my Amiga 500

TM are a French\Canadian company so i should think so. We will know when the pages finally appear properly on Amazon. If they come with a free voucher for DCS: A-10 i will personally get a Charles De Gaulle poster for my office. And I won’t draw on it ;)

Bumfire - OAH runs smoother on my pc than ArmaII. less forests. more sand! I know my pc is pretty beefy but i can tell the difference so you sure will. oh, and BTW, its mint! to be honest, i loved Dragon rising. for four days (and the intro music). once i completed it there was a loud MEH and on ebay it went. It wasnt.........gritty enough, (and no codemasters, i dont mean 'top gear' style camera filters). it wasnt "flashpointy enough". when playing it i wasnt scared. in the original OF i was in a state of constant terror. hiding behind a shrubbery listening to the sound of an approaching BDRM....rumblerumblerumblerumblerumbleRUMBLERUMBLERUMBLERUMBLERUMBLE PLEASEGODDON'TSEEMEI'MJUSTASHRUB
