  1. What you are describing seems to be the common issue. I hope I am in the majority with no problems. I did zip tie that cable on both sides on the connector to the headset strap but have had no issues other than the cable feeling like it is tugging at times. That really helps with it being so heavy. Many are saying the problem is with the cable. Others say try 60 Hz. Some say USB power.
  2. I guess everyone's head is shaped differently too and distance from the front of the face to the eyes. Maybe my eyes are sunk a few mm back into my head more. lol I have been loosening the straps slowly just for best comfort and now I think I could wear it easily for a few hours or more in comfort. Before mine arrived on Tuesday I read about someone who left those films on or I might have done the same thing. How many FPS are you seeing flying near terrain? I don't get much smear moving my head but without the reprojection on it is about 60 FPS near terrain and 90 FPS pointed skyward. The reprojection helps the stutter out the side canopy looking at the terrain at a very low altitude in the F-18 at a high speed. It's not bad with it off but it definitely smooths it out a bit. I am sure it is doing other smoothing. The clarity is so good I have been watching some of the free 3D VR movies on Steam. Some of them are stunning. You can make any size screen you want in the cliff house. 4K videos on YouTube look great too. I am very impressed after my Lenovo Explorer which always seemed fuzzy with a much smaller sweet spot. The entire DCS main menu is clear now. For spotting jets at a distance in A2A or seeing the green carrier landing lights (datum) from past 10 NM it is amazing compared to the Lenovo. It certainly makes the Case III landings easier in such clarity and detail. As good as mine is performing I don't see why a 1080ti or even a 1080 wouldn't work pretty well.
  3. I know my Reverb has worked perfectly with just over ten hours on it as of a little while ago. There are a handful of folks on Reddit are having a similar Reverb problem. It sounds like maybe the cable connector? One lens flickers or goes black. I would love to know how many actually shipped on the first go around. HP Reverb Stock Expected in July Following Delay, Early Users Report Display Issues https://www.roadtovr.com/hp-reverb-release-date-delay-slip-out-of-stock/
  4. I am using it w/o any problems.
  5. Has more Reverb stock been released anywhere (globally) after the first batch? The US HP Store site where I got mine still shows Out of Stock.
  6. I am wearing glasses and was concerned of the glasses lenses touching the Reverb lenses but there is a gap - even when tight. On my Lenovo Explorer the gap is so narrow they can touch and mar the glasses and lenses. I don't see any halo or anything funky. IPD may be the issue. I am 64 mm. I think that is why the sweet spot is so large for me.
  7. The WMR cliff house functions and Windows desktop are really useful now with the clarity of the Reverb. I was surprised how good Buzz Aldrin Cycling Pathways to Mars in 3D (free on Steam) was with the HP Reverb. Definitely worth the 20 minutes or less to watch. There are quite a few well rated free 3D VR movies on Steam. The Reverb is a game changer for VR IMO. steam://rungameid/608000
  8. With “motionReprojectionMode” : “auto”, in default.vrsettings enabled I do see a constant 45 FPS displayed (never 90 FPS even when all sky). The terrain is smoother near the ground looking sideways with it on. I am leaving it on for now. I guess with the added virtual frames the actual FPS you see is something approaching double that? To tweak more then I need to turn it back off to see the effect before re-enabling it.
  9. I would shift the SS to SteamVR as many of us are doing with the PD at 1.0 in DCS and see how it goes before I would buy a new card with a 2070. I suspect it will do ok. Especially if OC'd. XPlane is real demanding in VR one of the reviewer/testers said. Even more so than DCS. I tried using the SteamVR beta motion setting (uncommented it) and see a bit less judder when looking sideways close to the ground. The DCS FPS display is stuck on 45 FPS. I think the jury is still out about how much of an improvement it really is for my setup/config. since it is in that 58-60 FPS (without the motion setting) at the moment with the Reverb when near terrain. Still doing minor tweaking.
  10. I hope not. I can remember when the top cards used to be about $400 in the 90's. The indication from NVIDIA is the same or very slightly higher price than the current ones across the RTX line since they are starting to discount them. I think June 21st is the release date for the Super's. Might be a good time to pick up a 2080 or 2080 Ti on a discount if one's card is below about a 1080 Ti and looking at a Reverb.
  11. This should be published IMO. Nice work. The why this was working so well eluded me a bit. So what if SteamVR goes away?
  12. I wanted folks to see that humongous cable (the Pro has a second cable for a backpack) that comes with the Reverb. The long cable maybe is half a meter longer than the Lenovo cable - plenty long. I think I could tow a car behind my F-350 with that thing. :P I suggest attaching it to the back of your seat somehow so that there is little weight pulling on the headset. I really like the leather face padding on the Pro. While there is no 90 degree flip-up like the Lenovo headset the earphones articulate out and the headband does rotate about 45 degrees. Once I got the hang of it the headset is easy to put on with glasses. A couple of screenshots I took this morning just in SP below with the Reverb and my posted settings above. The second biggest thing I am noticing pushing the SS to SteamVR besides a performance and efficiency boost (CPU/GPU usage) is the lack of any shaking/stuttering/juddering (whatever the right term is for it). It's glass smooth which makes for a much more pleasant experience IMO. Please don't get rid of SteamVR. :music_whistling: HP is making everyone sign for the delivery in the US.
  13. I have SteamVR at 188% and PD at 1.0. There is too big of a performance hit above a PD of 1.0. You can chart CPU/GPU usage and see a huge efficiency boost using SteamVR SS vs PD. I see about 58-60 FPS next to terrain and 90 towards the sky in SP. IMO the Reverb is a game changer for DCS. I was just doing Case III carrier landings (night) in the F-18 and the difference between My Lenovo (1440 x 1440) and the Reverb is stunning. It's a lot more fun when everything is clear like the carrier deck, runway, and lights. Even the moon was pretty clear. The carrier deck has incredible detail now. It took a while to get used to seeing all of the text and labels in the cockpit clearly. Almost distracting at first. I have only had it a few hours so it will likely improve. I tried changing the shadows to flat but I am not seeing any difference on performance with the way I have the SS. Here are my current Settings but they will likely change... At the moment I am kind of hoping they don't get rid of SteamVR. If there really is a Windows bug affecting the max res in the Reverb it should only get better. :-) The big surprise for me was the large sweet spot. The main menu is basically all clear. I think it is mainly the luck of my IPD.
  14. I have been testing the Reverb all afternoon and coming from the Lenovo Explorer (1440 x 1440) I am really impressed. Just the difference in night carrier landings is stunning IMO but really everything. It sounds like getting I was even luckier than I thought getting one in the US. My only nit was the heavy cable initially but I solved that. I would not want to walk around with it.
  15. I was thinking I read they shared some WMR API's but it even seems like that isn't true. What a ripoff for the HoloLens.
  16. I just got the Reverb two hours ago and setup was basically plugging it in and making one adjustment on the video resolution from my Lenovo Explorer in SteamVR. The clarity and performance on my setup is very good with the way I have the settings. I can read everything inside the cockpit now but also can spot planes a lot better at a distance which I was just testing. The SDE is basically gone although if you really concentrate you can barely make out the very tiny pixels. My sweet spot also took a big jump but my IPD is 64 mm but I am actually using glasses which are working fine. I am very slightly near-sighted with the minimum prescription and am very close to not needing glasses at all. I also thought the audio is very good. The only complaint I have at the moment is the heavy cable. I routed it around the back over a home theater recliner seat I use and then I forgot about it. A few zip ties might help too. I can't see any mura - even looking at a white screen. I am curious on folks are handling that cable. The cable seems longer than my Lenovo Explorer.
  17. I ended up with nearly the same thing with the same results but adjusted the display quality in the WMR driver instead of SteamVR which is somewhat coded to vendor specific headsets (the May update affected the Lenovo Explorer among others). I have the display quality now set to Very High (beta) and my other settings are very similar. ED said they will eliminate Steam VR eventually for the Reverb. It is smooth as glass. I will be trying to get the Reverb going on Tuesday.
  18. Cool. Mine arrives on Tuesday.
  19. With all of the testing that had been done already with 1080 ti's and plain 2080's and the Reverb/DCS I am not too worried about performance at this point.
  20. I received shipping notice from Fed Ex on Saturday and my Reverb arrives on Tuesday 6/11! Ordered on 6/1 direct from HP. I am going from a Lenovo Explorer 1440 x 1440 to the Reverb.
  21. I snuck in an order on the US for the Reverb Pro on the HP Store site about 30 minutes after they loaded the stock (at 5 am on 6/1). It was Out of Stock by late afternoon on the 1st. Mine says shipping 6/18 and arrival on 6/26 but I was told me it might be sooner when I chatted with them. I wonder how many Reverb's they actually had that cleared QC? The HP QC VR manager told they are checking them really thoroughly in the first batch. I sent a ton of questions to one of the Reverb testers who has the same hardware as me (RTX2080). I feel confident it will be fine in DCS. Another tester did well with a GTX1080ti and high settings in DCS. Any optimization will help of course.
  22. Oh no - too many people know about the Reverb now. Will be tough to get one. I read in the UK a few trickled out on Friday. The delay/defect fix has them backed up. ;) I have been on every retailers list for about two months. :-(
  23. The pre-ordering has been pulled back it appears with the internal recall on the units to fix a defect.
  24. HP screwed the pooch on the Reverb? So hopefully the mura is fixed with the re-baking and delay. Better right than on time I guess. My Lenovo Explorer is fine until they get the Reverb debugged a bit more. Price will probably drop by then as the competition does their releases (Valve Index). :-)
  25. I thought it was a large 6 month update as Windows six month updates go but everything went well.
