  1. I'm looking for people from the UK to fly with at the moment, as it's hard trying to form up with someone from America or something who are jittering all over the place due to their high ping. I'm yet to fly with anyone who doesn't have a ping of about 200. Twobells, you interested? Also LupinYonder, you're UK too? Awesome, drop me a line eh! I've spent all of tonight practicing with the DataLink in Ka50.com multiplay server, all high pings, but it was a lot of fun having one dude fly recon for the rest of us. I'm still trying to suss out the VHF radio though.
  2. This is an extremely good idea dude, but what if you are directly next to or above something that is exploding? Then it would be quite the opposite of realistic. Even so, that is probably less likely. So i'm gonna get this for sure :) Cheers!
  3. Hey cows have two stomachs, man!
  4. Thanks for the advice
  5. I tried to word it so that it wouldn't look like i was making it out to be a bad thing, but I had a feeling people would assume i was though. It was just an indifferent observation really.
  6. Unless you're Hindu ;)
  7. Oh really? I guess i'm just behind on the info. When i said fielded i meant field-tested on the comanche. Being drunk and on a forum isn't a good idea for reliability of information. Heh heh.
  8. lol, the picture in the first post of this thread looks like a toilet from the future. I'll take 3.
  9. It's really easy mate, just download the PDF files and load them into photoshop. the following thread has a great file that the chap who started the thread made especially for people like us to use, what a complete legend. Be sure to thank him and give him rep! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39832
  10. There hasn't been a new military grade heli of the gunship class in America for a very long time. The Comanche was probably the last gunship designed and fielded, wasn't it? granted that was only in 1996, comparatively young compared to the 30 or so year-old Apache. And that never made it into mass production (although that chopper's role wouldn't have really called for such a design). Also, the Ka-50 probably didn't get that much press until relatively recent years, since its inception in the 80's. I think the main thing is that a new gunship hasn't really been designed yet, since the Helix's and the Ka-50's coaxial design got attention. Even then, the Ka-50 never made it into full field production. If America does ever design and build a new gunship, they will probably look into the coaxial technology. I certainly hope they do. One of the things in military technology that really gets me excited is when they design and build new aircraft! Although the new Joint ops F35 really disappointed me. It took away one of my favourite military birds - the Harrier. It also looks quite dull.
  11. If i had vsync disabled, the first thing i'd notice is how terrible the rotors look. I never had Vsync enabled until i got my new Syncmaster flatscreen. I got BlackShark at the same time, and the rotors were tear-central. So i immediately enabled Vsync and haven't looked back!
  12. I have a feeling DCS are hoping that a lot of A-10 fanatics will probably snap up an A-10 module. Let's be fair, the aircraft is a very American weapon, and anyone who is an American patriot (most of them) will be hardcore up for jumping in a slow, deadly killing-machine such as that, to pop some infidel armour, or whatever the target will be. That's just how i see the aircraft, i could be wrong. I know a quite a few Americans ans they follow the archetype that would go for such a module for such reason. The AH-64 is more of an icon really. It is also quite popular, but for different reasons i think. One thing is for sure though, i will more than likely buy any mudule for any aircraft they release that is of the depth and standard of the Ka-50. And as the technology and engine evoles and becomes better, which i have to assume it will; the more they do, the better they'll get. I imagine the devs will also become better at what they do, making better models, cockpits, systems. And bug-eliminating. These are exciting times for Aircraft sim enthusiasts. Edit: By the way, have they confirmed that the Apache will be multiplayer? I absolutely love playing Battlefield 2142 and the Project Reality mod for BF2 for the high level of enjoyment i get from flying pilot and gunner with some of my online friends. It's such fun having a solid team of pilot and co-pilot in the one bird.
  13. lol, oh right. ;) So errr. Is there such a thing as a Cobra sim? That seems like an interesting chopper
  14. You didn't actually say it was over, instead of saying "peep from" you said, "peep for", which made absolutely no sense. However now i understand.
  15. I just don't give a damn, y'know? If i'm going to voice my opinion, i'm going to do it in public. I've spent all day in a crappy job doing quite demanding work. I got in at midnight. I want to come here and unwind a bit with some like-minded people, if i get defensive over what he says then so be it. [EDIT BY MOD: RULE 1.2]
  16. [EDIT BY MOD: RULE 1.2] I am here for the community spirit, and to enjoy the company and discourse provided by other people who also enjoy this game[...]
  17. Also, by the term 'Game' that i used earlier, i didn't actually mean it in the sense of an arcady thing, i meant it is computer-based, it's not real.
  18. Oh mate, get over it. I did not steal your rattle or your candy. People get so desperately bothered when people suggest that it is a game. Well y'know what? Simulators can be whatever you want them to be. I am not spending hours each day just trying to take off in the damn thing in full simulation mode because i want to fly the real thing, or because i wish i could. I do this because i get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It's a challenge, and is satisfying. I am not "Missing the point". To me it is a simulator, wrapped in a game. And if you don't like the way i think, then i don't really care, but stop throwing wobblies if someone sniffs at the word "game". It's a friggin' forum, it's for expressing ideas, oppinions, thoughts and desires. If you want to pretend you're a real pilot and brag about how you can fly a Ka-50, then go ahead, but don't steal my right to feel what i choose to feel, and i won't judge you for yours. Anyway, i wasn't being entirely serious about the whole ad-lib thing, i was messing about for the most part. Of course DCS isn't going to do something like that, do you think i'm daft enough to believe that? I was provoked into a debate, so i was playing devil's advocate if anything.
  19. IN SOVIET RUSSIA, KNOB TURNS YOU.
  20. Not really dude, it's a game, it's not like it uses particle physics to make intricate calculations based on material density and surface composition. It could very easily just be worked around. One could use their imaginations and ad-lib in some alternatives that already exist in modern technology. Sure it might not be 100% sim-approved and based in reality, but i'd rather play an extremely close rendition/interpretation of a comanche than not at all. Stop thinking so non-laterally, man!
  21. Do you guys use Hyperlobby by the way? Does it work with BS? I've only been using the integrated multiplayer server browser, which tbh leaves a lot to be desired.
  22. You're a complete legend, cheers mate. I have attempted to create my own camo for this whirly-bird, but the effort involved with creating a new skin from scratch, while working out where everything actually is, has been putting me off a bit.
  23. Cor i absolutely love it dude! If you want a hand with texturing and you can create a decent UV unwrap i could take a look. I want an excuse to get my fingers wet with texturing again.
  24. 32th. Thirtytooth? But seriously though, this is a huge limitation it would seem. Can you land and have it repaired? blowing stuff up is an integral part of the game, if you lose that ability, you would have to resort to rockets which i suck at using, or the cannon which isn't the most effective weapon in the world.
